Who will follow in the footsteps of the previous winners of this fine award? Same system as the last few years will be in place and will be recapped when the leaderboard is posted.
Echoing the Co-operative Insurance MOTM, I'm going for Jody Morris.

I'll go with that too, Jody Morris. Thought Irvine looked a bit rusty.

Obviously a solid team performance, Davidson and Grainger seemed composed as did Jody.
Strikers done their job today , but I am going for Filipe Morais who looked class at times.

Jody for me - solid as ever. No real bad performers though.

No bad performers as has been said. I vote Liam showing his worth in the midfield and never stopping for the whole 90.

Torn between Morais and Deuchar, but I think Morais edges it. Had some fantastic wee runs and should have had a goal.
Special mention to Alzo for THAT save, though.

MAIN that save was worthy even if his kicking is suspect.....can they not get boots that compensate for his hooks and slices !

Main's kicks were utterly dreadful, to be fair.

Went for Deuchar, as he scored 2 and set up Sammy's second goal with a couple of great 1 touch football from both of them.

Morais. Not much in it between him/Jody. Refreshing to see someone running at players.

The Doc for me. Really classy performance from him.
I was a Holmer fan but the Doc is a much better footballer and his flicks etc are into the right area etc.
I totally agree with Mike180279, It was a great sight to see Morais, Craig, Irvine, Grainger, Davidson all running at players...

Went for Deuchar, thought he was great today, also brownie points for Morris and Morais

Chose the good doctor myself. Has the size & presence that Holmes had but so much more nimble with his feet. Big up to Alzo aswell for 2 superb saves.

Goals win games so Deucher gets the nod. Morais just behind him.

No stand-outs, so it's going to Savo for a magic strike.
Can't understand the criticsim of Irvine, recovering from a knock and no support from Mr Morais, he done just fine.
Mr Radford any chace of listing the players in formation order as opposed to squad number? Awfy confusing for thick folk like me to see Garters so far down the list.

For entertainment value it has to be that Phillip Morris chappie for me.
Oh,and 101, that will be"did"just fine!!!!

Thought our three best players today were new recruits Grainger, Deuchar and Morais. It's difficult to seperate them, but for their influence on the scoreline it's between Deuchar and Morais for me. Each caused Stenhousemuir endless problems. I'll go for Morais though. Hope he plays like that every week.

Morais for me,chased and harried well, great pace and some good touches and turns, just hope his temperament has calmed a bit since his last outing in a Saints shirt. Was very impressed with the link up play between Grainger and Craig down the left.

Thought all the new boys slotted into the side really well.Morais and Irvine looked like they had been playing together for years and if we can get the same balance down the left it will be good times ahead.Main was at his shotstopping/heartstopping best. For his age,the composure he shows and the amount of fouls on him, going for Davidson. And I thought Massone got a steal from livi.

Morais for me.Good to see some creative play from a wide man.The Doc should score a good few goals from cross balls. The Doc also looked good not just winning headers but knocking the ball into good areas.
geoff was right!!
01-08-2009, 08:56 PM
The doc for me ahead of Morais, thought Irvine was poor and if he wasn't fit then why didn't Del start with MacKay?
the mad referee

Thought Irvine looked a bit rusty.
Thought Garry Irvine played ok out wide when he was aked to make the runs down the touchlines, which was not often enough IMHO, but GI did not get into the game as much as I Personally would have liked. So on that note My vote belongs to ONE JODY MORRIS

Kenny Deucher. 2 goals, 2 set ups. Can`t do much better than that.

I thought Morais looked really good today. More importantly he looked willing and chased everything. Deuchar was my 2nd choice, if I'd got one, and thought Murray Davidson looked a real prospect too. He'll get better and better.
Should really have had Zorro's laddie on the voting list though. His winning penalty for the young Saints lads at HT was just like his old man when he dropped the shoulder to skin the goalie then calmly slot it from a tight angle.

Jody Morris for me. Ran the show. Praise also for Main, Irvine, Morais and Deuchar.

kinda stuck between Morris, Morais and Deuchar, all for different reasons. Morris is just different class in the middle though.

I went for Danny Grainger...maybe just cos I havent seen a decent left back in a long time but thought he looked the business.
The rest of the team played well and it looks like they gelled well during pre season so well done the management.
went for Deuchar. Scored 2, set up 2. Looks like he's gonna be a very important player for us in the coming season. Filipe was also superb. Very refreshing to see a winger getting to the bye-line and following it up with a good quality ball. No real failures though.

Morais just ahead of Morris for me. As has been said no failures

Dr Deuchar for me. I'm certain he'll be a key player for us and he showed it yesterday, scored 2, setup 2, won tons of headers and found team-mates 9 times out of 10. Totally underrated player IMO.
Having Doc in the team instead of Homer for movement, winning the ball in the air and actually finding his team-mates is like night and day.

I had to go Deuchar. Morris played well but it wasnt by far him playing at his best, have seen much better from him

I'd totally agree with that and it's been possible to be pretty certain about that after just a few games. Deuchar, along with Morais and Grainger were our three best players yesterday for me. Been really impressed by Grainger so far and likewise the other two, who were both heavily involved in our goals yesterday. Morais really provides a spark in midfield and, like the manager has said, brings something different to the squad. Deuchar was brilliant here a couple of years ago and scored two good striker's goals yesterday.
Going to go for Morais though. Special mention to Alan Main as well for his outstanding stop from the FK. Best save I think I've seen from him since his return and was the sort we saw regularly a decade ago. Hopefully the arrival of Graeme Smith will bring the best out of all our goalies.

Must say I was impressed with Deuchar, Grainger and Morais, thought Davidson turned in a fair game too. Not sure about MacKay though but time will tell. Main had a good shift between the sticks, good to see him chasing off their no 11 after he knocked the ball out of his hands :D

Deuchar was immense and is going to be a handful but wee Phil had that special touch of class- taking on men wide, getting crosses in and getting into goal scoring positions too, so he gets my vote
