Has anyone ever been let down by their mortgage lender because they took too long to instruct a survey?
I had an offer accepted on a house 'subject to survey' but apparently you need the survey done within 48hrs. My mortgage lender were giving me a 'free survey' but failed to get it actioned in time. Now there is another bidder on this house and I'm having to bid more money. I'm livid with my lender for this. Has this happened to anyone else?

you can extend the survey time Broon if the sellar is willing it is in the conditions of offer. It often takes longer than 48 hrs to get a survey in most situations so sellars agents normally will advise that. Its all about what is in the offer so your agent probably to blame not bank as it has nothing to do with them and your agent should have contacted them about timescales..

Thanks for the reply. They refunded my fees and apologised when I complained. Not much compensation but at least I am not out of pocket!
