There's no chance of any of us turning it down but that doesn't make it right. It's not like these guys have particularly hard jobs, it's an easy life for most of them.

Even the figures for the Championship are shocking - the average wage of a Championship footballer is almost £200,000 a year. These guys are nowhere near top footballers and some of them are just rubbish!

any idea of he average wage of spl players outwith hearts, celtic and rangers? i reckon they would close to the bottom level of the english leagues.

No wonder we can't compete if guys who play in League 2 are on nearly £50k basic wage. The jump up in wages from late teens to early 20s is unbelievable, an average wage of £32,500 for a 21 year old playing in bloody league 2! complete nonsense. No wonder so many of these guys are total rockets and blow it all on booze, geriatric hookers and geriatric horses.

Not that I'm prying or anything (well I suppose I am actually.... :?) but anyone got any idea what a guy like Scotland would be on?

I'm not surprised by these figures but yep I am sickened. Talk about being over-payed.

these figures hide the worst of it though - they are averages! so the poorest(????) paid players and the highest paid players distort the figure so the highest paid is probably a lot more than that figure!

its shocking - especailly when people have to pay stupid amounts to go to games - how much of gate incomes funds these players? that would be intresting!

Chelsea were rumoured to have offered Henry 125,000 a week to switch, that's 6 milllion a year !

That's crazy money ,even if he is one of the top players in the world

Wouldn't like to put a figure on it, but remember Scotland basically had no choice but to sign for Saints if he wanted to stay in the country (plus, Saints tend to make quite a public point of not breaking their wage structure for individuals) - so I can't imagine he was in much of a position to demand particularly high wages.
