When I was a young lad I remember a line of trees were planted along the main path near to the Sports Centre. Each tree had a plaque and it signified people who were born in Perthshire. The one that sticks out was Bobby Moncur who was captain of a very good Newcastle United team. When I was back home I noticed that there were some quite mature trees in roughly the same place. I wonder if they are the same trees because I think the young saplings with the plaques at the time were an easy targer for the vandals who frequently were in the area. On the same theme, did the tree that the Queen planted outside Bells Sports Centre survive ? It was planted during her visit in 1977, the year of her Silver Jubilee.
