Any chance of getting Ricky to ref Kev? Was relatively feisty when we played them in Stirling so could do with a ref.

If it is Ricky from the Hibs game then he is scheduled for cup final duty on Sunday so wouldn't be available.

Aye - but most, if not all, will be refereeing as it is the last Sunday of league matches - only one cup final left after Sunday.
Beatson is the only qualified ref I know that would be available for Sunday. I am sure they wouldn't mind, as it was really only getting tetchy between us last time due to the standard of their ref.

No sure if I agree with that or not, they had a few folk that were mixing it to say the least.
Anyway - Beatson are you avaiable to ref on Sunday?

We really need to know kick off time and venue asap please as I need to notify our players and some might pull out!
Like I said on the IFA e-mailing list,Bilbino require a impartial ref at every game they play as we have had some problems with other teams over this and we need to know for definite if you are able to get one please.
Our ref is a fully qualified and impartial ref and some times he isn't the best ref in the world,he is certainly fair to both teams.
If you are struggling for a ref,why not try Ewan Dow who is a Aberdeen fan(used to play for Inter MaLamb) and stays in your area-his e-mail address is ewan.dow@btinternet.com

As has been stated numerous times, the kick off time and venue will be confirmed when they can be. It is not possible to book the pitch that we play on until the Thursday before the weekend, I imagine Kev will confirm at some point today. This is the way it is, the game will go ahead and other teams never seem to have a problem with it.
As for the ref we always have a struggle on our hands to get a ref for our games but do our best in the circumstances. Of course we would like a qualified ref for each game we play, that goes without saying, I am sure all teams would. I recall some "problems" in the last game we played against each other and that was with a ref; I could speculate as to why these problems arose and would say am not surprised they happen with other teams.
Internet football is meant to be a laugh, a chance to meet and get on with other supporters teams, I feel you might be taking it somewhat seriously.
Cheers

I didn't mind the ref at Stirling, one or two players didn't play it in a great spirit... that bothered me, but most clubs have this... we have tried to get a ref, I will try Ewan Dow, but if not we will have to referee it... it's not the end of the world, you'd do well to remember this is a fun set-up in which it's about meeting fans of other teams, playing footy without pressure and not about winning a league, in fact winning at all.
If this is not good enough, we can play it is a friendly or whatever, we don't care about the league... just want to play footy and have a beer.
Anyway, pitch is now booked at North Inch, 11 o'clock kick-off... Bells changing available from 10am. PSJ meet at 10.
Will your boys be coming back to the pub afterwards?

Hi Kev, would have been happy to do it but unfortunately IÂ’m already helping out at an all day event at Scone race-course on Sunday.
Sorry bud.
Ewan.
Looks like it's us refereeing, if you are not happy, we could do a half each, or play it just as a friendly, it's entirely up to you... just let us know.
The IFA says regarding refs and I quote;
Internet football is renowned for the friendly spirit in which matches are played. It is rare therefore, for a qualified referee to be used in a league match.
Normally where both teams have a full complement of players and substitutes, each team will referee a half each. Players are reminded that such referees will make mistakes but will have made an honest decision. Dissent is unnecessary and in contradiction to the spirit in which games are normally played.
Common sense and honesty is called for on behalf of the players in order to assist the referee. Without linesmen, a referee is not going to be able to make a split second, fractional offside decision. It is generally accepted that only "very obvious" offside decisions can be given, and where there is no referee of any description, it is not feasible to play the offside rule.

Just to clear a few points up-
At no time did anyone say that the pitch could only be booked nearer the time and that this would have been done on Thursday-You stated it would nearer the time (which can mean almost anything IMO).I am more than happy that this game was only booked today and wouldn't have kept on asking if someone had stated this in the first place.
The reason I need to know is that I (the person who arranges Bilbinos fixtures and lets all the players know),would not be on the internet after tonight and really needed to know by tonight at the latest. All other teams we have played are in the same boat, but most are able to book it a week in advance. Please accept my apoligies if it has seemed like I have come over forceful, but I was starting to get a bit anxious.
On the matter of us taking it serious-I can understand that you may see us taking this serious, but even if we did, this is our own right to do so.TBH,I see it as a fun event, but I do want to win anything I take part in.If you think we take it serious, how do you view teams like SpartaJag,KaisAyr,etc who train twice a week for this?Ourselves-its a game of footy we want to win,but also meet other fans and have fun.
On the matter of a ref-We have a couple of bad experiences with teams where we have been happy for a member of their team to ref,but they have blatently cheated us.Because of this,a few of our players refuse to play against teams who can't supply a ref.Maybe you can take this view that this us being "serious" about games, but we take it as the view that their ref is taking the "fun" out of the game by blantently being one sided!
I would like to thank you for the effort of trying to get a ref though and we will still get a team to play you guys.If the ref on Sunday is impartial (it is obvious he will make mistakes and we will not fault these),then everything will be fine.

Just to clear a few points up-
Thanks for getting back.

Fair enough, looking back was not very clear on this issue so can understand your concern.
On the matter of us taking it serious-I can understand that you may see us taking this serious, but even if we did, this is our own right to do so.TBH,I see it as a fun event, but I do want to win anything I take part in.If you think we take it serious, how do you view teams like SpartaJag,KaisAyr,etc who train twice a week for this?
We want to win as well, don't get me wrong but in the main view playing in the IFA as a social event. The other teams you have mentioned take it seriously as well and that is conducive to the way the IFA has gone over recent years. I think it would be more worthwhile for teams of this standard to play in one of the many amateur leagues that are around but that is a debate for another time.
Ourselves-its a game of footy we want to win,but also meet other fans and have fun.
That is good to hear but to be fair there was not much camaraderie after the last game we played, usually there is a pub that both teams go back to after the game for example.
On the matter of a ref-We have a couple of bad experiences with teams where we have been happy for a member of their team to ref,but they have blatently cheated us.
I am sure most teams can relate to this experience, including PSJ. In the main though I would say that volunteer refs do their best in a tough situation.
If the ref on Sunday is impartial (it is obvious he will make mistakes and we will not fault these),then everything will be fine.
There would be no reason to think otherwise and an element of giving the benefit of the doubt has to come in here.
Looks like it's us refereeing, if you are not happy, we could do a half each, or play it just as a friendly, it's entirely up to you... just let us know.
As per Kev's point above are you prepared to ref a half or do you want us to organise it for the whole game? We are happy to take care of the whole game if necessary.
Will your boys be coming back to the pub afterwards?
Will you be coming to the pub as per Kev's post above? We need to know in order to organise food etc.
cost per team please.Cheers.
Kev can let you know this one but should not be too expensive.
Cheers mate-looking forward to the game.
As are we, see you on Sunday for a game that will hopefully be played in the IFA tradition and spirit.
Cheers

Cheers to Al and SaintKev for getting back to me.
I totally agree what you are saying on the pub issue, this is something I have brought up with our team before.
TBH,Not many of the guys in our team like drinking :? and there has only been a couple of times this season that we have went out for a drink after a game.I would love for us to do this more often and hopefully this is something that will happen next season.
Sadly,we won't be going to the pub afterwards, but I would like to think that we will make more of an effort on this aspect next season against you guys.
On the ref'ing side-it would be good if you guys could ref the whole game as at the moment it looks like we only have 11 players.I am phoning people today to try and get the numbers up,but we WILL have a team to play you guys so don't worry.
Anyway, many thanks for taking my points on board and I am sure the game will be played in the good spirit of IFA.Many thanks again for all your hard work in getting this game on. 8)
No worries. We will take care of the reffing.
See you on Sunday.

PSJ lost 6-1 on Sunday in first game of season with goal from Kev. Oppostion MOM was G, PSJ MOM was Stevie Carr.
Again I did not feel Albino were a significantly better team than us; basic errors are costing us all over the park; we are gifting teams goals and not taking our chances. We need to cut out the individual mistakes or else we have a long season ahead of us.
Thanks to James and the Stirling boys for the game, fully deserved the win. Would be better to let us know if you are going to be late for kick off however, we only get the park for a set amount of time and 11am kick off was agreed.
Thanks also to Beatson for reffing the whole game. Never an easy task and very much appreciated.
Next game is on Saturday against Arab FC at home. Full details on seperate thread and it is also the awards day.

Firstly I would like to apoligise for being late-I forgot my phone on the morning and couldn't contact you.I think a couple of our boys where up there, but I wasn't sure if they told you we where running late.
Many thanks to all your guys and ref for playing this game in the true spirit of IFA.There seems to be less and less teams in the IFA league who play fair and you are a credit. 8)
I thought we dominated the first half and the score line reflected this. However, you guys polayed a hell of a lot better in the second half and should have scored more.I cleared the ball off the line twice and you had a couple of other good opportunites.
I think we edged the win,but the score should have been closer.
Many thanks to the guy who ref'd as I thought he was very fair and did his best(ps.it was still a pen though-***).
Cheers again and I look forward to playing you guys next season and we'll defo be out for a pint with you afterwards. 8) :D
