I have been able to set up a world cup prediction league for us to try our luck.
All it takes is a quick 2 minute registration and you are all set.
The league will be divided into 3 sections:
1. Predict the winner
2. Predict the score
3. Predict the goal margin
I have been able to secure a prize for the overall winner which will be a free betting voucher with multibet bookies.
To register go to www.toptipper.com
Just register and subscribe to the FIFA world cup, from there join the group known as Saintees.
They send out e mails with the games if you select the e mail reminder, 48 hours before each game.
I hope you will all join up and we can have some fun, whilst we wait for the season to start again for us.
I will post a new message with the rules for deciding the overall winner.

The rules for deciding the overall winner will be as follows:
The person who finishes with the highest position in all 3 comps will be deemed the winner:
e.g. if you finish 4th in the winners, 9th in the scores and 7th in the margins that will give you a combined score of 20 points.
The lowest combined score is the winner.
You must tip in all 3 to be eligble for the betting voucher prize.
It there are multiple tippers tied for the overall prize, the winner will be the person who has the highest table finish in any of the 3 comps.
If it is still a tie after that then the person who finished the highest in the pick the scores table will be deemed the winner.

If someone under the age of 18 wins the betting voucher, their uncle Perry will be a bad uncle and place the bet on their behalf.

I have to agree but it's worth logging in and out and a few times to get the navigation experience...... there's 14 of us now.
C'mon we need more!

It's quite simple, you predict the winner, the score and the margins on each game.
Just make sure you have the e mail option on, as you will recieve an e mail 48hrs before each game reminding you to tip.
You can also make your tips through the e mail.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them :)

14/5 is the best available on Brazil and I really can't see past them. I've been convinced they'll win it since their performance in the Confederations Cup last summer.
People say they are weak defensively but their back four come from AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Bayern Leverkusen and Real Madrid. The holding man in midfield plays for Juventus! You don't play for those clubs if you are weak... oh, the keeper plays for Milan too!
Germany and France both have big-game experience so the best odds of 8/1 and 14/1 are tempting as backup.
The usual suspects will flop as usual but I think Portugal could have one final tournament in them. They've a top class coach and aren't under as much pressure as they've been in the last two major tournaments being hosts and on the back of their Euro 2000 performance.
Wouldn't be surprised if either Holland or Argentina (or both!) crash out in the group stages as Ivory Coast and Serbia are no mugs.
Fancy a bit of Ronaldo (11/1), Adriano (14/1) and Pauleta (33/1) for top scorer too.

Finners, go FIFA 2006 Woerld Cup, then there will be choices along a bar just under the top level - choose Groups.
You will then see a choice to 'Join An Existing Group'.
Type in there - Saintees
There's a few people not entering scores, they are just putting in the results e.g. Germany to win, but not predicting a score or margin.
pezza70
12-06-2006, 03:11 AM
You must enter all 3 comps to qualify for the over all first prize
Just join FIFA world cup and then the Saintees group
Tick the e mail option and you will get a reminder 48 hrs before each game

Jimbo
I sent him a email and he said, he will be doing it tonight our time.

Now I know why he wanted the table updated :***:
Some people are only tipping in pick the winners, thats fine, but to be eligible for the first prize betting voucher you must tip in all 3

24-06-2006, 12:29 AM
I will work it all out today and post the table after the group stages are now complete.
I appologise for the tables not being updated, but as I dont run the site or even know the person who does we are at their mercy so to speak.
Now that there are less games it will be updated more frequently I guess.
pezza70
24-06-2006, 11:27 AM
Ok folks, sorry for the delay, I cant update unless the site owner does his tables so I can do ours.
28 tippers have joined up, but only 24 are tipping in all 3 comps, so I have only included those scores in the table.
Remember the lowest overall combined score is the winner
The table stands as follows after the round robin stages:
1. Jimbo 3pts (he is perfect and leading all 3 categories)
2. Cool Blue 7pts
3. Steve McQueen 9pts
4. Real Madrid 14pts
5. Pezza, Broon 21 pts
7. A.d.i.d.a.s 22 pts
8. Blueheaven 27 pts
9. Theweesausage 28 pts
10. Dunfermline_saint 30 pts
11. Saintbryan 32 pts
12. Dayle09, Saintinthecity, Jimbob47 36 pts
15. Pink 44 pts
16. Scadek 47 pts
17. Rory_J, Sainty69 54 pts
19. Saintkev 59 pts
20. Beej 61 pts
21. Jonnyb7 64 pts
22. Radford72 65 pts
23. Calinho 68 pts
24. Auchterardermark 70 pts
I went with everyones user name instead of real name.
Our prediction league gaffer is perfect leading in all 3 sections, but the top 4 are breathing down his neck, a few poor predictions and its game on.
I will update again at the end of the round of 16, if that is ok with everyone else?
Ronaldo

Here is the latest table for us all:
1. Jimbo 3 pts
2. Coolblue 7 pts
3. Steve McQueen 13 pts
4. Real Madrid 14 pts
5. Pezza 19 pts
6. Theweesausage 21 pts
7. A.d.i.d.a.s 22 pts
8. Blueheaven, Saintbryant 27 pts
10. Saintinthecity, Scadek 33 pts
12. Dunfermiline_Saint 34 pts
13. Jimbob47 36 pts
14. Rory J 38 pts
15. Broon 39 pts
16. Dayle 09 42 pts
17. Pink 47 pts
18. Sainty69 56 pts
19. Saintkev, Calinho 61 pts
21. Auchterardermark 63 pts
22. Radford27 65 pts
23. Beej, Johnyb7 66 pts
So there it is, our prediction league gaffer is still on top but he will have to be on his game as Coolblue (Ronaldo) is breathing down his neck.

04-07-2006, 12:12 PM
Ok folks, we are at the semi final stage, meaning only 4 more games to go, the table looks as follows:
1. Jimbo 4 pts
2. Coolblue 7 pts
3. SteveMcQueen 10 pts
4. Realmadrid 12 pts
5. Pezza 19 pts
6. A.d.i.d.a.s 21 pts
7. Theweesausage 23 pts
8. Blueheaven, Saintbryan 26 pts
10. Dunfermiline_saint 31 pts
11. Scadek 34 pts
12. Jimbob47, Saintinthecity 35 pts
14. Broon 40 pts
15. RoryJ 41 pts
16. Dayle09 44 pts
17. Pink 47 pts
18. Sainty69 56 pts
19. Beej 61 pts
20. Saintkev 62 pts
21. Johnnyb7 63 pts
22. Radford 68 pts
23. Calinho 72 pts
24. Auchterardermark 73 pts
Our prediction league gaffer still leads 2 of the 3 divisions and is second position in the others making it very hard to be caught, but a few wrong results and he can backdoor it quicker then a English supporter out of Germany.
A big congrats to RealMadrid who now leads the pick the winners division a great effort to be 2 tips in front of the rest of the field with only 4 more games to go.
pezza70
10-07-2006, 09:55 AM
This is the final table folks, a tight affair all the way to final game today
1. Jimbo 4 pts
2. Ronaldo ( on count back ), Steve McQueen 8 pts
4. Realmadrid 11 pts
5. Pezza 15 pts
6. A.d.i.d.a.s 23 pts
7. Blueheaven 26 pts
8. Saintbryan 31 pts
9. Dunfermiline_saint 32 pts
10. Jimbob 47, Scadek, Saintinthecity (in order on countback ) 35 pts
13. Rory_J 40 pts
14. Broon 42 pts
15. Dayle_09 44 pts
16. Pink 57 pts
17. Saintkev 62 pts
18. Beej, Johnyb_7 (on countback) 63 pts
20. Sainty69 64 pts
21. Radford_72 68 pts
22. Calinho 71 pts
23. Auchterardermark 73 pts
So that is it folks, our prediction league gaffer won the competition, he finished first in two of the three divisions, and second in the other a huge effort.
A special mention to Realmadrid who finished 5th out of 1105 people in the tip the winners competition, only two points from the leader, a huge effort by Martin.
Jimbo finished 3rd out of 650 people, just one point from the winner in the pick the margins
SteveMcqueen finished 7th out of 650 people in the pick the margins
Jimbo finished 3rd out of 621 people in the pick the scores competition again just one point from the winner, awesome tipping by all 3 in particular.
A big thanks for everyone who entered and tipped, I know that the site is a hard one to navigate and I appologise that the updates in the earlier rounds were slow from them, but as I dont control the site it was out of my hands.
They did donate our betting voucher, which we were able to use as the first prize, so maybe that compensates a little for the slowness earlier on.
Finally Jimbo, I will be in touch with you via a PM in the next few days working out how we are going to transfer your prize to you, so you can hopefully turn your tipping prowess into some hard earned dosh for the wallet.

No probs Jimbo, just needed a little bit of time to work out the positions.
Last year on that same site, they had a Scottish division 1 prediction league, and I won the tip the winners section, always good to jam it up the dundee tippers who were in it.
