Perth Sheriff Court closed for fumigation

A Scottish court has been cleared and fumigated after a man who was charged with breach of the peace appeared to lose control of his bodily functions.
Proceedings were halted at Perth Sheriff Court after the man was spotted with a large brown mark on the rear of his trousers.
Staff then removed stained cushions before the court was recalled.
The court's public toilet was also closed due to a hygiene issue but it is unclear if the incidents are related.

I got this from a colleague in an email entitled "Sometimes the news really is crap"... It had been sent in from the Perth Sheriff Court freelance.

A criminal court was abruptly halted and evacuated yesterday (THURS) over fears that an accused man may pose a health risk to members of the public.
Sheriff Linda Smith called a halt to proceedings at Perth Sheriff Court after XXXXX was spotted with a mysterious stain on his clothing.
Mr XXX, 50, was clearly seen to have a large brown mark on the rear of his trousers as he walked from the dock in courtroom number two.
The sheriff declined to start the next scheduled case and instead ordered every person waiting on the public benches to immediately vacate the courtroom.
Court staff were then detailed to remove a number of cushions, where Mr XXX had been sitting waiting for his case, from the area.
They were carefully placed into black plastic bags and removed for industrial cleaning, while the courtroom was quickly fumigated.
A replacement cushion was placed in the dock for the next accused when the court proceedings recommenced more than ten minutes later.
Mr XXXX, who appeared to have enjoyed a libation before entering the dock, is alleged to have breached the peace at his home on 19 August.
He is alleged to have conducted himself in a disorderly manner, shouted, sworn, brandished a knife and uttered threats of violence in Perth.
He denied the charge and is due to face trial next month.
A court source said: "It was noted when he turned around that he had a sinister-looking brown stain on the backside of his trousers.
"When staff had a look they discovered that he had left a mark on the cushion in the dock so that had to be removed.
"He had also sat in a couple of places on the public benches during the morning so those cushions had to be taken out and bagged for the safety of the public.
"It was then discovered that the public toilet in the court foyer was also a scene of devastation. It was declared out of order. It's not clear if the two things were connected."
He said: "I have seen courts stopped over the years for a number of things, but this is definitely a first. You cannot be too careful. You don't want people getting ill."
