Tough first home match on the new grass and as so often seems to be the case in Perth, a 2-0 win for Rangers. Good seasons or bad seasons, games against the Old Firm are so often like today's one.

Callum Davidson for me... assured perfromance at left back, wasn't afraid to be direct (midfielders take note) and go forward when he had the chance.
Thought Encks, Mackay and Jody also played well today

Haber for me. Won plenty of headers and 2nd half looked prepared to run at their defence. Also thought Enks,Jody and Callum Davidson had decent games.

Callum by a long way. Enks and the back 4 all did really well. Wright was excellent first half, but Callum was the only player with any real ambition. Some good movement second half too, while Morris and muzz played keep ball like we were 1-0 in an Italian cup game and ignored him.

Glad to see a few other folk have voted for Jody Morris, as he gets my vote too. Sad thing is, I didn't want to say that in the original post, as felt it would only generate a series of replies questioning both his contribution to the team and the validity of my opinion because I voted for him.
His pass for Callum Davidson in the first half was excellent and I think we saw why he is picked in the role he is ahead of Kevin Moon. In any ten minute period, I suspect Mooner misplaced more passes than Morris did in the whole match. A sideways pass to an opponent is most often better than a forward pass to the opposition.

I would never question the validity of your opinion Radford and I'd hope you would reciprocate. We see things differently, and that's ok. It's life.
I agree that the pass to Davidson was excellent and I'd agree that Jody played well in spells. He begins to lose the way when he doesn't see an option, starts dancing round in circles and losing possession.
It seems, to me, that we are uninspiring in the main when Jody plays. Not always, but mostly we are better and drive forward more when he isn't there.
One thing's for sure, Jody splits opinion in this place right down the middle.

Morris does his job well, but there were no options for him today. I agree that a short or square pass can be effective, but that is about all there was today. The only balls to Haber and Sheridan were to feet, when they dropped deep to get into the game, and subsequently had the whole defence to beat, with their backs to goal. The two forwards need to play together in this respect, because they kept coming deep together.
There was nothing creative in midfield, but on this occasion I would suggest that Robertson, Muzz and Moon were all playing like Jody.
I rate his ability, but question if his game fits into an attacking 4-4-2 with no wide players. He can control the game all he wants, and can pass beautifully, but if there is no-one to feed, it's a waste of a player.

i really cannot believe mooner got pass marks.
he was pulled from pillar to post, all over the shop, left his full backs vunerable when posted missing on numerous ocassions, he was out of his depth.
i really felt for him, he should not be played wide, he just can't do it.

Enckelman as he prevented us from getting a real drubbing. Ando & Callum Davidson also played well.

robertson was shocking but has not played much football last few seasons think in time he will come good anderson was poor for me he was out of position alot and played them onside alot main problem was no natural wide men in midfield need some pace there believe we have the forwards to get goals this season if we can get the wingers to supply them

Morris showed his class as did Enks who made some wonderful stops.
Frazer Wright can only get better.

why did nobody feel the need to either shoot or cross on so many occasions? never gonna score if we dont get the ball into the box?

Callum showed his class today, for me anyway. Twice the player Grainger will ever be
Enckleman was class, clearly he should have been dropped though after last week and we should have played our reserve keeper that everyone seems to have seen a multitude of times in the irish league.

Encks for me, still a bit suspect at corners and needs to know when to come and claim the ball and when not to, but thought he showed real quality on 2 or 3 occassions when in one on one situations or shot stopping.

Encks for me,impressed with Wright and Ando did ok, would like to see them given time to form a partership, same goes for Haber and Sheridan, they did ok and should also be given time to form a partnership

Ditto. If more players had the vision of Morris we would be on easy street. Callum Davidson did ok in spells as well.

Morris for me. I agree with Andrew that he can sometimes be too negative, but today he tried to get things doing but had no options to pass forward to, due to a static midfield.
Muzz getting a vote is hard to understand, load of silly fouls in first half and went missing in second. Disappointing after he was so influential last week, he just doesn't contribute enough when we are in possession.

Morris seems to be too far ahead in terms of thinking for some of our players, looks like half them are running away from him at times, instead of running into space!

Agree with this. Jody for me. People critise that everything has to go through him but I think that is because he is usually always available for the easy pass - sign of an excellet player. When he is in possession, unfortunately the best option to pass to a team mate is square or backwards because the forward option is not available as there is no one in space to receive the ball.

I thought Jody was the best player on the pitch on Saturday. Surprised TFOD aren't more interested in going for him than Davidson actually (which isn't meant as any criticism of Davidson) - I think that if you put Jody into a more attacking team he'd really excel.

Anal retention. Oops
Seriously, if we have so much of the ball wtf are we doing with it?
As for positional sense, can't he pass that on to some of the others?
Possession and positional can gtf. I want goals.

His attacking positional sense is good. He times his tackles better than morris. He's not in there to retain the ball, he's in there to win it. You are comparing apples and pears. Can you not just accept they do different jobs in the midfield?
Davidson gets it, Morris keeps it, Millar and Craig are supposed to use it!

Morris to Ando & boot up the park because Morris can never spot the runs made by Callum & others.
