After the guy's sensational performance last night, he is now being added to the list of greats along side pele and maradona, i have to say i am a bit young to remember these guys, but what are peoples thoughts when comparing these players to Ronaldinho. I personally feel Ronaldinho is exceptional, the best player i have ever seen.......If only he went to Man utd. or maybe even saints!! :P

Ronaldinho and Messi are potentially the two greatest players in the world for years to come IMO. Ronaldinho is better than Pele was but not quite as good as Maradona.

the problem is its impossible to compare different players of different times, football is a different game now, refereeing has changed, the overseas contingent has come and now you have players of every country in every league. comparing different positions is tough too, no doubts he is a class act but is difficult to say whether he is better than batistuta or vieri were at their job of getting goals, or as good as an on form zidane or makele at their midfield jobs, or maldini or schmichael in defence.
Its like comapring george best with wayne rooney
brazil do have a habbit of producing amazingly skillful players thats for sure.

aslong as it is not Micheal Ballack! hes man uds's. I cant believe he spent waht 19.75 mill on Ramos he has not impressed me, i knw he is young but it wasn't like madrid to spen any money on defender let alon almost 20 mill.

Ballack would be on my shopping list for Madrid. He more or less got Leverkusen to the CL final in 2002.

was he the player at the last world cup, who went down in a heap claiming he was hit in the face?

if it is him, i think the dog should of been shot, if its not him, I reckon he is the best player in the world at present, but to compare him with Pele, Best, Puskas etc is a long way off.

My biggest hate in football is players who dive on the ground and roll around trying to win penalties. Not only are they a disgrace to the jumper they are wearing, they are a disgrace to themselves and their family.

Couple of quality pics there Shandon (or should that be digger!).

Rivaldo is the cheating bar steward who went down pole-axed holding his face when the ball hit his shin - and, as such, his career has gone seriously downhill since (especially at Olympiacos in Greece). Sad end to what should have been a great career for a really talented player.

Ronaldhino is the best player in the world just now in my opinion.
There are very few players who consistently open up defences - every five minutes or less as far as I can see.
There is no doubt there were more of these players in the past but as Jimbo said the game has changed and defences and midfield players all drop back into precoached systems or game plans now and this reduces the amount of these players around. This makes him one of the greats of all time alongside Maradona, Pele, Cruyff etc. I personally put Jinky Johnstone and George Best up there too.

Ronaldhino gets a lot of heavy tackles on him but never seems to suffer extreme injuries and i think that referees nowadays are better at protecting these kind of players than just a few years ago.

When they mentioned the team lineups on Saturday night I was surprised to hear Messi's name as a starter but this kid is brilliant. I knew that but I thought they might ease them in against a smaller team. The forward line of Ronaldhino (link from midfield), Eto'o and Messi is phenominal. They also have other forward players of Larsson, Iniesta and Guily on the bench, two of whom have played against us.

Rijkaard has slowly got them playing in the Dutch style, very much as Mainstand once said like the Dundee Utd of the 80's. When one player gets the ball two make thmeslve available rapidy and just like chess they think ahead and others have made themselves available if one of the two receiving players gets the ball. If they get trapped they then have to dribble out and that's when you see Xavi, Ronaldhino, Messi, Eto'o etc. do their stuff.R ijkaard was under severe pressure from many of the members at Barcelona when he came in but he stuck to his principles, the President stuck by him (Joan Laporta ) and was helped initially by the signing of a Dutch friend in Edgar Davids.

A great win at the weekend against Franco's fascist club. That's the way they see it in Catalonia. :D

What i like about Ronaldhino is the manner he plays the game, always smiling, not ever malicious, goes down when hacked and gets back up, no writhing about. Great example to kids and the fact he is a genius helps somewhat too.
