View Full Version : PSJ Trip 2008
Just to pass the time I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the annual PSJ trip away. Having experienced both Worldnet and Madrid it got me thinking about both trips. So just for the sake of it please cast you vote and post any comments below. Cheers.
P.S It is hypothetical so I didn't include a "don't mind" option for all you fence-sitters

Hull & Madrid :D
really tough decision, enjoyed worldnet but the weekends we went to hull and madrid were something else entirley.
Ideal scenario would be win the lottery then we could do both.
Too close to call I reckon - Worldnet was class, but Hull and Madrid weren't bad either.
I'd probably swing towards a Hull-esque trip so we don't have to play 32 games of football in the space of 24 hours!
Absolutely gutted that missed Madrid so a trip to somewhere like that again would be brilliant I reckon. Or Hull would do the trick!!
WorldNet was top quality as well and would be more than happy to go there again but in terms of affordability we could probably only do one or the other.
Whichever doesn't involve getting woke up a 7am for breakfast.....

somewhere like cardiff, man that would be the baws
If we're talking about possable destinations, i'd prefer a foreign trip. with the price of flights and drink your just as cheep going to Eastern Europe as down south these days.

Perfect :D
It has been decided that we will probably go away on a trip of our own some time next year - anyone with any concrete suggestions speak up now!! Other internet teams have been places recently so will look into that.
WorldNet is on the back burner therefore but might be revised nearer the time dependent on circumstances.

How about a trip to Germany or Italy and catching a match over there in addition to playing a couple of matches. Plenty of ex-pats as well should we not get a local side to play against.
I like Chopper's idea, but we would probably be better going to a cheap-as-chips place to increase the chances of getting a decent size group together. It's possibly a bit random but what about somewhere like Tallin? Think there are a few ex-pats there and from what I've heard it's dirt cheap.
Chops, am I right in thinking you've been there? Do you reckon it'd be suitable?

I have been to Tallinn - its not as cheap as you would think!!!
In fact, being honest, it would probably be cheaper getting to Berlin (Air Berlin, Ryanair, bmibaby etc) and have more to spend over there than flying to Tallinn.
Berlin would be cheaper to get to than Madrid was and probably about the same costs (at most) than being in Madrid. Prague is also an idea, however Kev would be better at informing us of that trip!
Options so far:
Prague
Berlin
Tallinn
and I will suggest
Warsaw
Barcelona
Anyone any ideas how to take any of these forward? Most important thing is obviously that we get a game of football wherever we go.
When would be suitable to go?
June 2007 or
July 2007
During either of these times it may be difficult to go see a game of football due to it being pre-season unless we went to somewhere like Russia or something!
All opinions and suggestions welcome!

Now Moscow - what a shout G :***:
If we chose Germany, could we make it a weekend in late September/early October to coincide with Oktoberfest? This then covers many a pint of beer along with at least one if not two games of football on the Saturday and Sunday (to watch) and play a couple of teams over the course of a weekend.
Of course, the downside would be missing a Saints game...................

Downside my arse!
Warsaw aint a bad shout tho - cheap as chips and easy enough to get to, as is Krakow (Beej and Elvis will vouch for the accommodation we got when we went there as being absolutely perfect for us!)
No idea how we would go about getting a game. Whats the foreign contingent like on the IFA list Al?

There is a boy from Inter Milan on it, that is about it!!
I have also been to Krakow and it is a decent place to go, lot of history obviously but more importantly for you monkeys a lot of pubs selling cheap beer!!
When I get time can do a bit of research on the internet, should not be that hard to arrange a game surely?

Anything come of your research Al?
I think I will change the title of this thread to 'PSJ Trip 2008' as it is unlikely we will be going away this year I would have thought. However, I propose we have a trip next year for sure. It is currently 11-1 in favour of a European trip rather than WorldNet 2008 :D

Ehm, eh, not found a cure yet anyway :(
Ryanair has added new flight routes from Prestwick, including Kaunus. Might be work a wee look.

Krakow and Prague (or even Budapest) all covered by the budget airlines and have the potential to be a cracking drink fuelled trip.
Get To Krakow. The Bears know a cracking little Polish Karaoke bar!
Just to throw another idea into the ring - Wigan is an absolutely cracking nightout, loads of pubs and clubs and not that far away. Sharkey could also get a team for us to play against no problem so that would be sorted.
The best fried chicken I have ever tasted is also available, even at 4am.........
Simply an idea - if we got a list of them together we can look into where to go.
