I see from the above website (great articles by the way, much better than the official site, very informative, and full) that Paul Lawson is still awaiting clearance from the Celtic medical staff before he can even begin training again. Does that mean that he's been injured and we signed him injured?

I see also from the same site that poor Neil McCallum has broken a bone in his foot and is set to miss much of his loan spell with Alloa. Not good!

You can turn right out of Queen St until you reach Hope St, get a 62 or 40 Bus. Bust stops have appropriate numbers on. you will see the ground or the Thistle Supporters.

10 quid for a child. Thats shocking.
I bet that Hamilton fan that was moaning about our prices on here a few weeks back is going crazy on a Jags forum :D

I will be making the short trip to Firhill the morrow, I can do it on a fiver petrol, which is nice :D Hehe.
I am looking forward to this one, we have had good results here over the last couple of seasons, just hope we get another tomorrow. Could be a tricky game with them still unbeaten aswell so they could be really up for it and Derek Young will be wanting to prove a point too, but i think we will be too stong for them. 8). Looking forward to seeing McLaren and hope he settles in quicker than Lawrie :D. Shame about Lawson, is he def out or is there a chance he might be a sub.

This is what i have found on the official saints website

CASH ADMISSION PRICES 2006/2007
For most games this season only the East and Main (West) stands will be open. Admission to the East Stand is for St Johnstone fans only and is priced at £16 for adults, £5 for senior citizens and £4 for Under 18s.
The same pricing structure applies to visiting supporters who will be housed in the north end of the Main Stand or, for larger supports, the North Stand.

Well That wasn't too bad at all. Really not sure we got out of second gear but had some good passages of play. Hardie's ball for Savo's first goal and the quick free kick for Scotland's third.

Thistle were dire and one dimensional. Long ball in the air and we got dragged down to it occasionally. Second half we turned in something akin to a friendly match. Now thats not a criticism, we just did what we had to.

Not one negative. Standouts for me were. McManus, Mensing, Hardie and Scotland.

Radford 72
09-09-2006, 06:23 PM
Thistle made it easy for us by playing a ridiculously high back line but we still created plenty and should have had at least two more.

McManus and Hardie stand-outs for me, as well as the two strikers obviously. Their movement was superb.

Great Performance, the game was won within the first 10 minutes.

Willie McLaren ran them ragged, the best Saints debut I have seen (or can remember!).

Scotland scored 3 of his 5 great chances, all goals were well taken- the first was a great strike.

Same story for Savo 2 good goals, although me missed a sitter with his head in the first half after a great cross from Hardie.

Thistle barely got a touch of the ball in the first half and struggled to get over their half way line apart from a 5 minute spell after we went 3-0 up then after they scored the penalty. I had money on 4-0 at 80-1, bugger.

The game was as easy as the scoreline suggests, the main threat from Thistle was the mentalist in the crowd who was wound up, what a clown- hope someone has a photo of him dragging his knuckles along the ground.

Good goal at the end as well, quick free kick as the Thistle defence made a half arsed attempt to form something which could be vaguely described as a wall- Scotland played through before smacking the ball high into the net, Easy!

With the Gretna old men falling to Dundee, all that sits between us and the league title is Livi- no problems there then?

*edit How good was it when Hardie did the bit of skill down the right wing in the second half? Skinned the midfielder, did a Ronaldinho then backheeled it for the cross? Brilliant stuff!

Temple reports up now - can only echo everything said though, we dominated that from start to finish and Thistle were very, very poor. Excellent goals and if we were a bit guilty of cruising and easing up in the 2nd half it was mainly due to the fact that the points were well and truly in the bag.

Thought McLaren had a good debut but could have run at their defence a bit more - the build up to the 2nd goal was class. Jason was on top form - the first goal was a belter. And 4-4-2 looks a lot more effective now we have a winger!

What happened to the PT fan in the 1st half - he was totally losing the plot but not really causing anyone harm but before you knew it the polis and stewards were involved and he was marched out. God it's not as though he didn't know what to expect when we come to town   :***: :***: :***: :***:

09-09-2006, 07:25 PM
Well - what can I say. We won 5-1 without getting out of 2nd gear. If we really wanted to we could have had double figures - Partick were rubbish at the back. I don't want to get too carried away but......what the hell it doesnt happen very often.

There were several superb performances in the team today and I liked the look of the line-up. Goran linked well with Willie McClaren on the left (the type of player we have been desperate for, great to watch) and Hardie was like a man possessed on the right - what a performance. Mensing and Sheerin (who all of a sudden has learned how to head a ball :? ) were very solid in the middle too. Back 4 were good and Lawrie played well too. McManus is the most talented defender in the league by far.

The strikers were excellent too, worked hard and spread an awful Partick defence all over the place - they could have had 4-5 each. Well done Saints, great stuff.

I just want to say well done to the fans too who were excellent (its much more enjoyable at away games) and well done to the players who were concerned about the lady who got hit with the ball - you wouldnt get that in the premiership.

Well i couldn't wait to see Saints after being at the two Scotland's games and my confidence about my club team or country team wasn't dented. Fantastic, well chuffed at that!. My confidence is sky high and the faith couldn't be restored more. We WILL get there! Even if it does take the Scum to do us a fvour on the way!

Met Mclaren's family who were sitting behind us the day and they said he would thought he needed a few weeks to settle in - YER MAW! :***: Thought he was one of the best today aside from Mad Mental Martin Hardie. Mensing, McManus and obviously the two upfront were good too! Jason STILL could have had two more goals at least - but we got the four (+1) we were after!

Tactics were spot on and a good team performance and the players looking a bit more rejuvinated after their weekend break.

Special mention for the team who made an effort with "Oweny's Tart" Wee Mags today  - very concerned with Savo approaching the stewards to ask for ambulance staff (who took a good while to finally arrive, just as well there wasn't a major need for them apart from Mags being checked over! However, a Mr Scotland did visit us in the pub back in Perth to present her with today's matchball signed from our team which is a great gesture from him. So well done to the players for that - a great gesture.

Down the left we were fantastic, midfield was good and everything clicked. Just hope we can maintain it - cos we ain't gonna play partick every week!

That's quite an important point Hazel. Hope the lady in question is okay.

I don't think the organistion at Partick is that great, I had to go through the pensioners gate today but pay £15 where was the adult gate and how do PTFC know what adults nd what pensioners have gone through.

Also when we left there was an ambulance trying to get into the ground and couldn't get through at one side and had to go all the way round again.

on the pitch thought Saints played well today and as someone else said could have scored moe, much of the game was played in first gear. Second joint top and when you cponsider the daft point we lost we should we should be well clear.

Meant to say earlier, and only just noticed SaintSam's post on P&B bringing this up......

Sheridan was woeful when he came on, there really is no need for him in our team - at present, and with a bit of luck not in the near future either. He came on and gave away a silly foul or two and done absolutely nothing except disrupt our free flowing play! But hey, this is probably the first game he's played and not been booked this season!!!!!!

So much for the improved Partick but Saints are on the way up. Fantastic.
To also catch 3 points and 8 goals on Gretna (+4 us, -4 them) was just the icing on the cake and wipes out their 6-0 Hamilton advantage. Awesome. 8)

We certainly lost some of the creativity with Sheerin having to go wide and only having Mensing and Sheridan through the middle - but at the same time McLaren looked knackered and OC didn't have too many options.

Glad to hear the wee woman that got hit is ok, i was sitting about 5 rows behind her and it was a fair old crack she got. Credit to Savo, Stevo and Jason for checking if she was ok. I think it was the wee reserve keeper O`Brien that pointed out to Jason that she was hurt and he came straight over and looked genuinly concerned. Also great that the team signed the ball for her. :D Where did she go?, did she get to see the game after it?

All three substitutes were completely ineffective when they came on but I think Sheridans addition was more noticeable because he went straight into the middle of the park alongside Mensing causing the same old restriction problems we've seen so many times before. Temple is right though, Coyle didn't have many more options and McLarens lack of fitness was telling towards the end. That is a problem than can be solved with a little time though.

However, as I said on Pie and Bovril, I wonder if there will even be a place for Sheridan coming off the bench when Lawson is fit? Surely a much better addition into the middle of the park to replace any tired legs than Sheridan? I agree that he gave away a couple of needless fouls and left us looking quite vulnerable at times as well though.

I was really disappointed with Peaso when he came on, we looked completely lightweight up front and Savo was onto a hatrick. Fair enough Peaso needs to build up his match fitness, but I wouldn't have hooked either striker on this day for him.

"And make absolutely NO mistake St Johnstone are NOT a great footballing side. Hell, they aren't even a GOOD footballing side. They are at best mediocre."

Well another well deserved 3points in the bag. Saints were on top form with jasan getting to in 6miutes and being 3 0 up at half time the game was basicly over. We did get to 4 0 until they got a penilty but we got one back and a 5 1 win was ours.

I completely agree with hazel, there is no need for darren to be in the team we played better when he wasnt on and when he came on he was gash.

Like others have said well done to Stevo Savo Jasan and Jim for coming to see if Wee Mags was alright. U definlty wouldnt of seen that at larger clubs, thats what i like about Saints the Players care about the Fans.

O and another thing thanks to sjfc1884 for toping of a good day. falling asleep on the bus and when we turned the corner basicly fell of her seat and pood her pants......Quality :***:

Does anyone know what Halliwell shouted into the crowd in the first half? I couldn't make him out.

Aye "how long is there to go?"!

cracking performance from whole team except that old **** sheridan, made 3 tackles when he came on an 2 of them were fouls. he looked well off the pace on sat! just realised he is not good enough for a jersey

There is no need to be disrespectful to the guy. After all he has been a good player for Saints and does always give 100%. Just because he's maybe not what we need at the moment doesn't mean he's not a Saints player and he's not trying. Granted maybe his age is catching up with him but thats not his fault. If he plays and you don't like it blame Coyle not Sheridan.

I personally don't think he is what we need for most of the games in this division but I do think he can do a job when were under the cosh against someone.
