I don't think so - we're close but lacking 2-3 quality players. Plus I'm not sure the likes of Sheridan, Stanic or that ageing striker bloke with the broken toes would have the pace or stamina for the SPL.

Sorry to disagree but I think Stanic is one of the only ones who are good enough for the SPL.

I don't think there's any way the current squad could keep us in the SPL - for all the progress we've made this season, we're still 10 points behind the team that's top of the first division, and I think the jump in class between the two leagues is pretty big.

As for the players we have at the moment that could cope with the step up, I'd have serious doubts that Cuthbert, Paston, James (lack of pace), Sheridan (his age), Anderson, Henry, McCann, Fotheringham etc would be good enough. Off the top of my head, in my opinion only Mensing (at his best), Rutkiewicz, Stanic (maybe), Stevo (again, at his best), Sheerin (ditto), Scotland, Milne and Dobbie (when he can be arsed) could remotely be considered to be SPL standard. I feel that we'd probably need at least 6 or 7 players good enough to go straight into the first team to compete effectively at that level.

If we were to go up and we would could entice a few players better then we have right now, especially in the midfield then anything is possible.

Young Jackson will be a star in the SPL sooner rather then later, lets hope it is with us.

i think if siants were to win this league then obviosly their would be 1/4 of the team would have to go . then just maby we would be able to stay in the spl depending on which players we have :***: :***:
