In the interview on Scotsport's website Coyle says that Savo's done his hamstring, which normally means at least a few weeks out. Looks like we're going to be seeing a lot more of Dobbie then, and hopefully the extra games will improve his match sharpness. Are we able to recall Jackson from Cowden, because we could end up really short of strikers?

My understnading was that Savo had flu, OC took him off because he was suffering and couldn't get his breath. At least that was what I was told by the bench at half-time....

Dobbies going to have to start doing something soon

perhaps playing on a regular basis will help improve his game

I will admit I am not one of his fans and did not want us to sign him (I posted that on the old forum) but he's fit and we need him to perform

Does anyone think Dobbie is actually match fit? he looks way off the pace TBH

Dobbie will get back to the way he started the season, he just needs games.

I have confidence that he will come good....

Im not one of the Dobbie is crap brigade. I'll say one thing a striker needs time to settle into a team. The lack of reserve football will be ekkecting any player who is not getting a regular start get off his back we know that the guy has skill.

As for the old trumpet who sits behind me in section J give up your season ticket do not come back you are not a Saints supporter you obviously dont get to speak in the house. What to you think you will achieve by shouting at Stanic one of the better performers on saturday just after he had been polaxed in the first miniute to get up with play then giving him a torent of abuse. If you read this forum you old coager sit down and shut up your friends spent the last ten miniutes of the game after you had left on saturday talking about you and planing to move there seat next season.

I think Dobbie's a smashing player - he proved that last season and at the start of this one. But I don't think even his biggest fans can deny that his form since he came back into the team has been honking. You can tell when his confidence is high, because he used to constantly try long-range shots whenever he had the ball just outside the box - but on Saturday he had several opportunities to try a "Dobbie special" and didn't take them. I think that says a lot about his current predicament.

Totally agree, by the way, that the lack of reserve team football does seem to be taking its toll on the fringe players and that's got to be a worry. Can anyone post a reminder of why we don't compete in any reserve league any more?

As it was a stroll in the park (or most matches were anyway) for our boys with a) us being full time to the rest of the league b) us being more talented than most of the other teams.

Coyle felt it wasn't benefiting us as it wasn't making us step up a gear and challenge the boys to play, he said there would be bounce games organised most weeks...but that may be proving harder than he thought judging by the lack of action for bounce games. Only been around 5 or 6 this season i think? :?

Maybe we need to look at rejoining next season because we need the fringe players to get match practice to cover injuries, as it has been proved last few weeks.

I think we have to get into some kind of reserve league. Bounce games are OK if we can get them but at least in the reserve league there is some kind of compatition whereas a bounce game is no beter than 2 Saints teams lining up against eachother.

On the reserve team football issue, is there any reason we can't join the Reserve League West? I think the Reserve League East has been disbanded in any case.

pretty sure you are correct, not enough teams IIRC.

back to Steven Milne who is obviously a great player.
He didnt look interested in the second half last Saturday
he just sat and texted his mates for the entire half.
(Checking on the Coagies score maybe?)

I'm glad to see Savo back in the squad.
Even after his long period of injury he is still our season's top scorer -

Milne 13
Scotland 12
Sheerin 9
James 5
Rutkiewicz 4
Stevenson 4
Dobbie 3
Dobie 2
Macdonald 2
Mensing 2
Glennon 1
Hardie 1
Janczyk 1
MacDonald 1
Stanic 1
(own goals) 3

He really has been a miss and a loss of cutting edge and could possibly have turned many of our draws into three pointers. Obviously match fitness is the key now.

Mind you that's nine league games undefeated but four of them draws. We have lost only one home game in the league, the same as St.Mirren but we have drawn eight games compared to their four. That's a large differential points difference but a draw only requires an extra goal. Good to see him back.

Na, it actually says on the Temple that he's going to be given ninety minutes for the reserves against Gretna tomorrow night.

I'm 37.
