Just been talking to one of my colleagues who is a Sons season ticket holder. He rates Grindlay as a shot stopper but is unsafe unfer the high ball and crosses. Doesn't command the box and is often called on to make late dives to clear up his earlier mess......

I dont think we need a keeper to be honest Cuthbert has looked as solid as he has ever looked and to be honest i would prefer to adopt the we will score more goals than you attitude so as at least the games will be more entertaining

I find it very hard to believe that a guy from the lower leagues, whose name I've never heard of and who seems not even to be rated very highly by his own team's fans, can possibly add anything to our squad. This whole thing sounds like nonsense agent-speak to me.

Personally, I do think we need a new goalkeeper, but it has to be someone with more ability and experience than Cuthbert otherwise it's pointless.

We need to bring in a good keeper to put pressure on Cuthbert as I don`t think Paston will ever be in goal for Saints unless Cuthbert gets injured.

After last night, lets hope so...

He could do nothing for the winner but he really doesn't fill me with confidence!

Came out and claimed a cross once, and other times he was being a butter catcher!

What do you expect when that is his first game since the pro-am???

If ever we needed confirmation the RLE (or RLW) is a good idea, then last night should back that up!

You'd still expect him to be able to catch a ball... not like he's been out for decades... his mistakes last night were not down to rustyness... on the otherhand he made a couple of cracking saves...

As Kev says, you'd still expect him to be able to catcha ball - and his kicking was attocious too on some occasions!

I said that for weeks about the RLE only to find it's defunct. Are we allowed to joing the RLW? Or is there anything that could prevent us from doing so? :?

Blue snow time - I couldn't agree more Chops.

When I voiced my concerns about withdrawing from the RLE I was shouted down by various people on here who reckoned it was good thing as the 'virtually non existent' bounce games would be of a better standard. As, I predicted, these games have been exceedingly infrequent and often against teams of or below RLE standard anyway (e.g. Stirling Albion a couple of weeks ago).

He will also be doing catching practice in training also, not the same as a game situation, but in would certainly help!

Agreed, but it still isn't match practice and it definitely isn't practice enough for a night at Gayfield - not necessarily the calmest night I imagine!!!

Actually it was very calm last night for once, but bloody baltic, and the pitch looked to be beginning to freeze up in places late on with a few players suddenly slipping on their asses.

Grindlay is a decent 'keeper. I'd definitely welcome this signing as any time I've seen him he has performed well and I've often thought he would be a decent acquisition for us. He is highly regarded by the Dumbarton fans and they've seen it as inevitable that Grindlay will leave them sooner rather than later. I can't see him costing any more than a nominal fee.

The only thing I would say is that I had hoped the club would look for an experienced 'keeper to complement Cuthbert rather than someone who seems quite similar.

I'm 37.

i live about 6 miles from dumbarton so i always look out for their scores and i guess i would say they are my second team behind saintees...... Been to a few sons games and he is a really good keeper from what i have seen of him.....
My local paper always reports on the dumbarton games and he is more often than not man of the match. I think he would be a decent signing.

I'd say sign him too, but if he doesn't command his box I ain't interested. We've already got a keeper who shits himself at crosses. We certainly don't need another one.

A keeper and a central midfielder for xmas please Santa!!

Back Page of my local paper had a bit about Grindlay comming to saints. Grindlay said "everyone at the club knows my aim is to go full time and i have heard a few rumours that i have been watched by a full time club but that is all i know". Dumbarton Manager Paul Martin said "its no suprise Steven has attracted attention from bigger clubs cause his recent performances have been top class and we are only willing to let him go for the right price and if we feel its the right move for Steven" He also warned Dumbarton fans that it does look likely that Grindlay will be leaving for better things in January.

I know he is a time wasting b**tard but does anyone think barry john corr would be a decent signing for us. He has played well in both games against us. I know he didnt have much to do yesterday but he has been playing well in other games. What do uze all think. Not that i have anything against Cuthbert it has to be said.

Ye i agree that he is quite a good keeper and it says in the news of the world that OC has no intrest in Grindlay althought he says hes a good keeper.
