Did you know that the PR Manager for Hearts was sacked when they appointed Graham Rix? The coaching team asked for 6 defenders, not sex offenders :***:

I have no particular reason to speak up for Graham Rix...I think football wise he is not a good choice...but do many folk really know what happened for him to have been jailed???
He is portrayed as a sex offender and into young girls in the same way that eg Gary Glitter is. This is total nonsense.
His crime was falling for a girl who looked and passed herself off as early twenties when Rix was in his early 30s. She attended many functions and events with him when he was a Chelsea coach and not one person suspected she was as young as she was. It was someone with a grudge that told the police.
I think the guy was hard done by and find it ridiculous that the girl got away scot free despite carrying out what was basically a fraud. Rix now has a stigma for the rest of his life.
Slaughter the guy for being a bad coach but not for anything else.

It was someone with a grudge that told the police.
It has been quite well documented at the time, and in the press since, that it was Rix himself who confessed to the police after he found out she was 15, not someone with a grudge.
I do agree with you about the way we should slag him for being a bad coach but we are football fans and fans slag off every bad thing about a person's life when they are in the public eye like Rix has put himself up for.

I think the Hearts fans accepted him as a coach, with what ever baggage he has. As has been said above he did not try to hide what he did and served time for it.
The problem they are having with him now is the team are going backwards. He just seems to be playing Lithuanians and Celtic despite losing to Dunfermline and drawing with ICT are still 4 points clear

Don't agree wi Victor. Rix was 41 when he had sex with a girl who was 15. She may have looked older but not mid 20's. At the very least he is a dirty old man.
He was charged and found guilty of unlawful sex with a minor. He is therefore a SEX OFFENDER. O.K. so not to the same degree as Glitter and rightly so, but I wouldn't be happy if he was appointed as my teams coach. And he is a gash coach!!
Maybe it is bad to slag him off for his past indiscretions but as Chopper says, we're foootball fans and thats what we do. It's the nature of the beast and if he wants a high profile job its something he must learn to deal with

Turns out you are right..he was 41. I stand corrected on that point. I a did say early 20s, not mid 20s so im surprised you got that wrong given you are so hot on material facts.
Do you always look at everything in black and white? After all hes a sex offender, so why not castrate the dirty b@astard..thatll teach him. We could do make it into a reality show. We could also tatoo Dirt Scum across his forehead to reduce the chances of him interfering with little girls again. Hope hes been banned from going within a 5 mile radius of primary schools. What a pervet he must be.
I really hope the 15 year old angel he misled totally against her will, abused and scarred for life is still a member of the Girl Guides and didnt give Rix her Blue Peter badge. Wonder which convent she joined.

what ever rix past is like, i still cant understand why anyone would appoint him as boss, let alone a team that were top of the league - a slight case of the stark syndrome - cant get burns lets have the second best option.
As to what happens now - well i'm just going to wait and see what the sfa say but i would be surprised to see him out of a job by the summer

Why should we feel pity for Rix he was old enough and wise enough to know what he was doing, footballers, coaches that surround themselves with young girls are always running the risk of one of them being too young, having said that i respect him for going to the police and owning up when he found out the true age of the girl, ask yourself if you would have done the same .
As for his job at Hearts they were never going to sustain a serious challenge for the title, and the only way for them to go was down, the sqaud isn`t big enough and he has had a lot of injuries.
Lets hope after the transfer window that Hearts, Hibs and Kilmarnock can keep up with the competition as i think we will have one of the most exciting ends to a season.
Thats my two pence for what its worth :***:

Im not surprised the hearts fans are slightly disgruntled by the guy, i mean the names getting floated around like Ranieri, Robson, Scala etc then suddenly up pops Rix, last job being at Oxford of all places to be handed the job at Tynecastle. That would be like asking Tommy Burns to manage Saints then opting for, oh i dunno, some turd like Sandy Clark instead.
As for the sex offender bit, well its not exactly gonna help the guy make any friends in gorgie is it...
Apparently he is thinking of dropping Steven Pressley..... as he isnt a fan of big hairy fannies..... :***:
Heard a nice little ditty being sung to the tune of a Manic Street Preachers song the other week...
"If you tolerate RIX, then your children will be next..." :?

FWIW I actually agree with Victor.
The guy met this girl in a Club - last time I checked you have to be 18 in a club. If you were a 41 year old guy and some pretty girl in a club who looked in her twenties was throwing herself at you - would you say no?
The fact he owned up speaks volumes that he had no idea. Would you have turned yourself into the police if you didn't believe you were totally innocent?
Still don't think he is good enough for Hearts though.

You mean asking someone who's never done anything decent in the game to manage Saints, and then appointing someone who gets us into Europe instead? Seems like a decent deal to me!
To be honest I feel quite sorry for Rix. It's not his fault that he's arrived after the sacking of a manager who was doing an incredible job and was always going to be nigh-on impossible to emulate. The Hearts fans might want him out, but I doubt he'd be replaced by anyone able to take them back to where they were before Burley left (not before the end of this season, anyway).
