Part 2 of the week that decides our season.

After seeing our league season continue with part 1 out of the road - what to get to another cup final, 10 years after our last.

Brown and Thomson have been confirmed as Hibs players until the summer, so we will need to be up for a battle against those two and it will be so important to have someone able to nullify the threat of Ivan Sproule running from deep.

Thoughts on the team?

Heard today we've sold over 3000 tickets, good effort, should ensure a good vocal backing at Tynie. Think we got allocated 3300 so not a skelp off selling them all, maybe todays result will ensure the last of the tickets are snapped up before Wednesday.

We have a problem though - many fans wanting tickets won't buy them because they can't get through. Couple of supporters were asking me about it today for seats on j208 buses and there is none - Wee John/1884 have actually arranged for folk to go on other buses.

Pull the fingers out Saints - get as many going as possible....the affiliated supporters club is only taking 2 buses, we can't take anymore and the other supporters clubs buses are full - plenty of folk looking for seats, won't lose money and could make a tidy profit for the Muirton Park travel Club.....don't they usually run at a loss or break even to most games? Can McDiamrid not have some input and ask them to run at least another bus? Bit of advertising in Courier/PA would see it definately fill up if people were made aware it was going.

Looks like the tickets are nearly sold out Hazel, can't be that much of a problem getting thru to Embra. Trains, buses, cars, they'll be a decent turn out from Perth. :***:

It's for folk getting back though - a lot of people ar eput off because they don't know there way and things. If i wasn't going on the bus and couldn't get a lift i wouldn't have went through with me and my pals if we didn't know the way.

We should be trying to get the last seats sold and another bus load going.

Bring on the Hiiiiiiiiibees! HIV Posiiitiiiiiive!!

If i was Coyle i would'nt be focussing too much on the strengths of the Hibs team, i would just tell the team to work their socks off and don't allow them much room on the ball, the incentive for the players to play in a national cup final is all the motivation they need. I thought the Gretna right back(peroxide man) gave Sheerin and Stanic a tough time today with his pace, especially in the last 20 minutes when those two were tiring. The pace of Whittaker/Sproule would be my main concern down that right-side. Scotland and Peaso are good enough to test the sometimes dodgy Hibs centre defence, i think we will get enough chances against them.

Whats the situation with Bill McLaren, Derek McInnes and Felipe - who is cup-tied and who isnt?

McLaren is, the other two aren't. Still not sure about Lilley. I think he is cup tied, after playing against Annan Athletic.

Nice of Super Ro, aka The Gaffa, to help us out today by throwing Baldacchino on towards the end. Goran and Sheerin handled him ok so that bodes well for Wednesday although obviously Sproule is better.

The following are available:

Gk: Cuthbert, Halliwell.

Def: James, McManus, Anderson, Stanic, Mensing, Lawrie, Dyer.

Mid: Hardie, Sheerin, McInnes, Morais.

Att: Scotland, MacDonald, Jackson, Doris.

I'm sure I'm not the only one going through in a car. Does anyone know of anywhere decent to park close to the ground? We got parked relatively close to Ibrox no bother, but we're relying on Sat Nav to get us to the ground in the first place so we have no idea where to park.

SJC

Parking will be an absolute nightmare, but try Russel Road which is close enough to the Roseburn stand, type it in on windows live: http://local.live.com

The area behing the Roseburn stand is industrial, so if you don't fancy it try somewhere on Gorgie Road, but be wary if you get there early because sometimes, they put the no parking cones out pretty late- I had my car towed when I stayed right next to Tynecastle, they put the cones out for a Rugby League match at Tynecastle at 6.30pm!

I'll probably be in the Murrayfield Bar or Roseburn bar as they're pretty close and SHOULD be mostly Hiv-bee free as they are planning on going to Roberstons bar and the usual Hearts haunts.

While the Edinburgh Polis are generally surprisingly sound, they tend to be absolute bastards to football fans, so if anyones planning an all- dayer take care not to piss about too much afterwards because they'll nick ye for bugger all.

Cannot wait for this now, we've got a hell of a chance of winning if we play like we did today.

We should make sure that we're singing from the minute we are in the ground to let the players know we are all behind them, which makes a nice change! Sing during the warm up, Sing at Half time then hopefully, sing at the end of the match after we win :D

Would around 5 o'clock be a good time to head straight from Perth to Tynecastle?

SJC
27-01-2007, 09:36 PM
Leaving Perth at 5 would hopefully get ye to Tynie at 6.30.

Things will be great, but you'll get a delay at the Bridge, then getting into Gorgie istelf will take a while at that time, especially with the football traffic.

What pubs is everyone thinking of going to then?

I'll be in the West end from 4pm ish then off to a bar in Murrayfield (theres a rugger bugger bar which I fancy heading to to create an atmosphere for a change).

Got told to drive past the zoo until you see garage on the right and park there - ten minute walk to ground!

SJC

Yep thats correct, it's the Kenny Dunn garage- sells Porches etc. You could park a bit down that road (down the left I think) and the Rosebirn stand is underneath the railway bridge then off to the right.

firstly, congratulations on a great result today

secondly, despite being a hibee im not here on the wind up.

if you watched hibs v motherwell today on satanta tv im sure itll put you in a better mood towards wednesdays game. hibs may have won 2-0 but it really flattered them, motherwell came for a draw and nearly pulled it off, sat back with scott mcdonald up front and tbh perhaps deserved a point from the game, hibs second was scored with the last kick of the game.

despite getting rid of zibi in the goal, there is a weakness at centre half whoever plays be it martis or hogg alongside big jones ( who at 6' 7'' is a huge threat at set pieces )
scott brown will still probably play on wednesday, and on his game ( being televised so he should be extra keen ) he will run the show. thomson, if the last few months are too go by will give you nothing too worry about.
whitty can push forward well, but can also can caught out of position fairly easily, while murphy, the left back, has a sweet first touch and makes some great runs.
zemmama is definately out which is a plus for the saints but his pal benji should start imo as he has a nice touch, holds up well and an eye for goal. fletcher will be there or there abouts, like thomson everything has to be on the left foot though.
leaving last but by no means least, ivan sproule, set up both goals today. sometimes lacks a final touch touch but his pace will cause any defence problems.
if saints allow hibs to play fitba, on the deck and give them time then they are in trouble, if the keep it tight and pressurise the defence then its game on.
should be a good one, the winner is 90 minutes from a cup final !

looking like a sell out, place should be bouncing. many hibs ( or HIV ) fans as we are loving refered too will bevvy down in leith then head up to pubs in the gorgie road area. i woulndnt recommend any saints fans going to robbo's bar. it will get wrecked.
wont be many hibs fans drinking in the city centre though, will probably be a few in roseburn ( my usual tynie haunt ) and murrayfield bar but its a bit of a trek if your in the wheatfield.

hope yous all have a great day out ( till 7.45 ) :)

It may be called the big pink bus shelter by the Hibees but one things for sure the atmosphere in Tynecastle, specially when full, is cracking and must make the Hibs fans a bit jealous compared to the morgue they play at.

Good on the Hibs for selling out their allocation though, had thought maybe a bit of apathy towards the game with us being pretty unglamorous opposition and the game being on the box.

So a near capacity crowd in and a tele audience of millions  will hopefully witness the Saintees march into the Final, fingers crossed lads and lassies!!

If you have Sky you can get BBC Scotland on your Sky box. If you don't have Sky then find someone who does.

Alternatively you could realise that Saints are in the semi-final of the League Cup and there's really nothing more important than being there.

If you have Sky you can get BBC Scotland on your Sky box. If you don't have Sky then find someone who does.

As I understand it though, if you try to watch Scottish football on BBC Scotland via a Sky box, from anywhere outside Scotland, you just get a blank screen with a message teling you it's not available outside Scotland. I think it's something to do with the conditions of the BBC's contract.

Alternatively you could realise that Saints are in the semi-final of the League Cup and there's really nothing more important than being there.

Actually having a motor would assist with that particular plan! I reckon I've been to enough Saints matches over the years not to have to justify not being able to go to every single game now that I live down south, but yes - I work in a small team who have a deadline to meet on Thursday morning, so if I disappear off to the football I'll be dropping all of them (as well as myself) in the plopsy, so as it happens my work commitments this week are "mightily important"!

I'm sure there are plenty others on here who can't make the game, who aren't being grilled about it!

Yup, you've got me, I'm just a big ol' woofter. In fact, I reckon every Saints fan who ever dares move beyond the Broxden Roundabout should be stabbed in the face as punishment for not getting their priorities right.

Seriously though, given the ticket sales there are clearly loads of Saints fans who aren't going to this. And that's hardly something new. I can remember in 98/99 going to our Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers - a bigger game than this coming Wednesday's - and if I remember rightly there were less than 1,000 Saints fans there. Disgraceful. I can also remember going to a bigger game than Wednesday's in Monaco, where again there were "only" 1,000 or so Saints fans there. In fact, come to think of it, we couldn't even fill McDiarmid for the home leg against Monaco - why was that? So let's round up everyone who wasn't at those games and throw acid into their eyeballs while we're at it.

So let's round up everyone who wasn't at those games and throw acid into their eyeballs while we're at it.

Not according to the article I read. £1,000,000 windfall from CIS Insurance for the two finalists, split right down the middle.

The gate money for the semi-finals is pooled between the four clubs right enough.

Think it was maybe on the Hibs board I read about it, there was a link there too. Can't remember the thread though.

£1MILLION CIS JACKPOT
Exclusive by Hugh Keevins
SCOTTISH League secretary Peter Donald last night revealed there's a £1million jackpot on offer to the CIS Cup finalists.

And he also laughed off suggestions that the competition had turned into a poor relation because the Old Firm have been eliminated.

Rangers' conquerors St Johnstone face Hibs in the semis with Falkirk, who beat Celtic, taking on Kilmarnock.

The Easter Road club's game will go on at Hampden, but the venue for the other tie is to be decided over the next 24 hours.

And if the final can pull a full house to the National Stadium, the participating clubs can expect a £500,000 windfall.

Donald said: "It's a huge sum of money to be paid for one day's work. And that's what Celtic and Dunfermline received when they met in last year's final.

To all HBoS customers

Please don't come into King Edward Street branch and mention Saints or even football to me as it may be a while before you get out of the branch as I am as high as a kite about the game and when working on Sat could hardly sit still cos I just wanted to go to the game!!!!

Also please don't expect an answer from me on Thursday as I will be
a) very tired due to lack of sleep
b) unable to speak due to too much shouting and no longer having a voice left (as was the case after the Rangers game :D ) and
c) either be 1)on cloud 9 (due to saints winning and me being able to annoy my sisters Hibee boyf about it!! :***: ) or
2)in the deepest depths of despair (due to losing to the Hibees and my sisters boyf annoying me about it! Very unlikely of course! :D )

If you could also refrain from mentioning the Falkirk game as well (especially when Saints beat the Hibees) would be much appreciated as I can't go due to work! :(

Thanks all very much with your co-operation in this matter

Which is unlikely whatever combination of semi-finalists make the final.

What are folk thinking regarding team selection then? I would say, barring injury, 10 players already have a starting place with Filipe Morais and Andy Lawrie battling for the other shirt...

Cuthbert

Mensing/Lawrie - McManus - James - Stanic

Mensing/Morais - Hardie - McInnes - Sheerin

Scotland - MacDonald

Subbies: Halliwell, Anderson, Lawrie/Morais, Jackson, Dyer/Doris.

Problems down the right again...

I can't see Lawrie starting, I think he's been dropped for reasons of lack of pace, and we're going to need as much of that as we can get on Wednesday, so the only option is to play Gunther at right back. Which, by a process of elimination on Radford's team sheet gives a start to Felipe on the right of midfield. Other than that question mark, I can't see Radford's starting XI being different from Coyle's.

I'm very excited/nervous about this game. Just counting down the minutes until kick-off!
I would line-up like we did on Saturday, but obviously with Morais on the right wing, in cup-tied McLaren's place.
I wouldn't fling in the, possible, new boys - Main, Tosh and Holmes (touch wood), as they wouldn't have had time to get to know the squad and the way they play, and it would be unfair on the boys who played passionately on Saturday.
I've never looked forward to a match as much as this one. I really feel we can give it a go, and give Hibs a fight. Even if we lose, which we must admit is the probability, I will still be proud if they put on a good, fighting display of football, with every man playing for the shirt.
Hope everyone who's going, gets down to Edinburgh safely, and without any problems parking-wise, and I also hope we give the boys all our support. Let's be the 12th man, and give them the encouragement they deserve.

Thomhun wouldnt have been playing anyway...boozy is ten times the player, as for Broonie hes actually just got the head down and got on with things...hes was MOM by a country mile on saturday. I think it's clear Collins rates Brown a lot more than Thomson but then Thomson is the one that seems happy to stay at the club until the summer. This is good news for us as, like you say, Brown won't be happy. Expect Big Mad Mental to get stuck in winding him up tomorrow!

thomo is very over rated, rather than 2m from the huns id be happy with a million from WBA

broonaldo is the pick of the twins, hopefully he gets the head down and gets on with it till the summer. he was good on saturday and on form is one of the best midfielders in the spl.

Must be difficult trying to prepare for this game with that going on although the Thomson money probably means you can say no. In todays market though it is silly money that is being offered when you consider the English tend to ignore Scotland now. Its a big risk long term turning daft money down right now.

Tonight Saints fought like heros, not only against the enemy in green, aut aginst the enemies in the press and across the country. Despite the result we have acheived a victory. A victory over the West coast opinions that we are that small insignificant little team that can't put two passes together.

As one, the lads fought for our club and for thier pride. The manner in which they tore in amongst Hibs, was commendable to the last. Commitment in abundance only luck and perhaps a little bit of composure in the end prevented us from reaching a final we so richly deserved. It says it all the Hibs, faced, Peterhead (I think), Gretna and Hearts to reach the semi in comparison to our journey. Hibs maybe in the final but we earned the right to be, and also I hope some respect from rival clubs.

You did us all proud. Bring on Falkirk, bring on the league.

Proud of the boys tonight! Fantastic effort after getting caught out early on. However I'm glad its Falkirk in the cup on Saturday instead of a league game as i think that the lads will be physicaly and emotionaly drained. We can afford to lose the cup game but the league must be the priority now.

Like everyone else, so proud to be a Saints fan and proud of the team's performance. We lost a silly goal early on but bounced back created the most chances in the first half. Second half, started where we left off and chased every ball and thoroughly deserved the equaliser although I thought it went over the bar

Probably lacked a wee bit luck in front of goal and a little bit of pace but best performance I've seen for a long time and am confident that a similar performance on Saturday could see us beat Falkirk

Saints were the better team over 90 minutes. Worked very hard in midfield and created the best chances overall. A bit more luck in front of goal, especialy towards the end of the second half, and it would be Saints heading for Hampden.

Good support as well, outsung Hibs the whole game and stayed right to the end to applaud the performance of their team.

Most of the Hibs supporters around me were bricking it after the Saints equaliser and thought that Hibs were very lucky to still be in the game after 90 minutes.

Well done Saints.

Shattered to be honest.

However I was very proud of the whole team and the fans. It was a great atmosphere and I'd love to get back to the SPL for big time atmosphere. Saints were caught out in the early stage but fought back and I thought Saints were the better team over the 90 minutes and could have won on chances. We were first to every loose ball and took the game to Hibs. Fantastic cross by Morais and goal by Scotland who just took the pace out of it in edging it past the keeper with his head. The midfield got stuck in and I thought they were going to do it. Extra time was different. Kevin was caught out by the free kick and that meant Saints had to chase the game by going three at the back which was always going to be risky but I agree with Owen that this was the way to go at that stage.

I enjoyed the game immensely.

I have just read similar views on Hibeesbounce, Credit to Coyle who set us up better than Collins did. We just lost it in the first 5 minutes

A quote from Hibeesbounce

I have to say however that I can barely remember a worse performance from a Hibs team in such an important game. After a wonderful start, we were dominated completely by a hungry and determined St Johnstone team who had clearly done their homework on Hibs weaknesses. I've very rarely seen a Hibs team make so many basic errors during the course of a game, and had so many players who were off form and appeared not to have the appetite for the game.

To be fair on Collins, he was not slow to make changes and he correctly hauled off Sproule and Shiels who were both dreadful. Stewart looked like a guy who didn't want to be there, and yet again our lack of an proper defensive midfielder was exposed on the big occasion. If Hibs play like that in the final we will be beaten easily by Kilmarnock who will not be as lenient in front of goal as St Johnstone were tonight.

Excellent performance apart from a couple of mistakes which in the end cost us. Can't complain in the slightest about the way the players fought and showed the sort of determination we knew they were capable of. In the end it came down to fitness and youth - Hibs were simply a sharper faster side with the legs for extra-time.

Tonight was the sort of performance that makes you proud to wear the blue :)

We were unlucky not to score more than once but remember, up until tonight's game no other team had scored against Hibs in this competition so we did quite well considering!

I noticed a few of our younger fans getting quite emotional tonight, tears of joy when we scored and of despair when we crashed and burned at the death...an initiation of sorts I suppose!

We were absolutely superb tonight. I've never seen such commitment from a Saints team. We were clearly up against it, Hibs had so much pace and skill yet our guys used every bit of experience and guts to control the game. Scotland and Peaso cause those two diddy centre halfs all sorts of bother - they will get harder games in the 1st division.

I guess in the end the fitness told. Our players are much older but I am not going to criticise that because without that experience we would not have played so well in the 90.

After watching Utd, Rangers and Hibs I now reckon the 1st Division is the hardest league in the world :?

Have woken up this morning with that empty feeling that we have missed a great opportunity to reach that final.

What can I say? Our overall play, heart and desire deserved nothing other than victory within the 90 minutes - that second half performance when we completely dominated Hibs was the best we have played against the SPL sides this season. With a bit more composure in the last third, we would have put them to the sword in no uncertain terms. In the end we ran out of legs, pure and simple.

What a support tonight as well. Incredible, unbelievable, fantastic, brilliant, and all those other words. Lump in my throat when we scored - not even the most diehard Hibs fan would have denied that we totally deserved that - and at the end when we were a beaten side, to have everyone still singing their hearts out was an emotional moment.

I fear disaster on Saturday - I think it's one game too many after last night, but we shall see. We have to pick ourselves up for Dens though, and continue with what we started last Saturday, putting the pressure on Gretna. Real passion like ours deserves to be in the SPL, not some rich man's plaything...

I agree with a lot of that.

I can live with last night. I don't think any of them should have any regrets as I'm sure every single one of them knows they gave it 100%. All we can ask for I reckon... apart from maybe a little bit of luck we didn't get.

I can only hope the fans that were there last night start coming back more regularly and then we can get more nights like that. Falkirk on Saturday is another huge game and then the Coags, it'd be nice to think they'd make the effort again.

I do agree with you about Saturday and unfortunately the rest of the season too. The players put so much into last night, it'll be difficult to ask them to do it all over again on Saturday. We saw what happened after Ibrox and to be honest, I fear the same again. Promotion was the number one aim but I don't think we had the squad to play as many cup games as we have and really push for the league. Hope I'm wrong and a win at Dense Park will boost my hopes again.

Still, definitely up there with my proudest saintee moments, right up there with the goal that put us into the UEFA cup, i think we as fans deserve credit as well, i cant remember being at a game where i've seen the saints fans so vocally supportive and the "12th man" really seemed to be working, i know how drained i felt last night and how hoarse i was first thing this morning! Hibs were definitely rattled during the 90 minutes.
Saints bombraded them and should have scored at least another and all it needed was for any of the shots from Hardie, Sheerin, Mensing, McInnes or the head of James to hit that target or even ricochet to the right player and we'd have won on merit.

We've now got to get back up and motivated for the Falkirk game and another big effort. Should be good. :D

Perth has always been the streaker capital of Scotland. He was preserving our heritage. Fine man. 8) I bet it was freezing.

I remember in the 70's when we were in our later teens, me and my pals decided one dinner time to draw lots to see who would streak down the High Street one Saturday. I must admit I can still remember shaking as I drew my lot and thankfully it wasn't me. :D Unfortunately it was CR who drew the short straw. So CR went to the close next to the Theatre and took his clothes off and then JM (supporting role) took the clothes and put them in the saddle bag on his bicycle. They both went out with JM cycling next to him as they went for the target of a close at the bottom of the High Street.
Unfortnately however and for whatever reason about half way down JM and his bicycle just pissed off somewhere!

How many saw the hibs fans fighting amongst themselves - they were really getting into it!

Aye, really getting stuck in they were. What was that about anyway? And what about the a**e who chucked the ball away from Goran (I think) when went to retrieve it for a throw in?

Herts
the fans down in the corner there were doing that most of the game..... fuds!

Just watched the game again. What killed us last night was the lack of striking options. We had plenty of the ball going forward and gave them nothing but we were restricted to too many shots from the edge of the area and as a consequence we didn't really have too many clear cut chances. With a second experienced striker to come on for McDonald it might have been a different story.

The first Hibs goal was poor defending from Saints both in terms of marking Sproule and getting tight to Fletcher in the box. Cuthbert was certainly at fault for the goal although I notice someone came off theedge of the wall just before the free kick was taken - perhaps he though that post would be better covered.

Overall I was really proud to be a Saintee last night, we were by far the better team and deserved to win it.

Highlights for me: The equaliser; our streaker who had the greatest set of man boobs I've ever seen - must have been a c cup at least!; the scrap in the Hibs end; and Mensing's shove on Benjoullin after his goal - the boy must have wiplash.

what does he mean by that? that we played like lithuanians? that we've sold our best (and Scottish) players? Such drivel makes me realise why i do not buy a daily newspaper anymore!

I think he's alluding to the fact that by the way we were playing at that point in the match, watching neutral spectators might have though we were the "home" team. He tried to be a bit thespian there, but due to lack of any real journalistic talent has failed spectacularly and has ended up sounding "impertinent" as Grovesred has pointed out.

Im glad its "only" the cup on Saturday as we may still be a bit tired. I see Dr Deuchers left Gretna till the end of the season on loan so hopefully someone can injury the remaining strike force and if we perform like that for the rest of the season we will win the league!! :***:

Tremendous display from the team last night. The definition of class = Goran Stanic. If Savo was playing last night, i think we would have been in with a great chance of winning.

I just hope the boys can take that team spirit into the rest of the league matches. I dont think we are far off being a decent team, a bit more width and we will be fine. Well done boys!

Definitely agree with that, and thought we really missed him last night. Savo's direct running would have creamed their joke central defence.

Agree 100%. We lacked that little touch of class up front to convert the loads of half-chances we had into something more. Barring the first 10 minutes we were easily the better side in the first 90 minutes. It's just a shame we lost that daft goal right at the start of extra time as that knocked the stuffing out of us.

It is possible, as he's done it before as his celebration, but I dont know why he would do it when it was Murphy that scored.

Benji has a bit of a temper, and he's not used to how things are done in scotland, he's had to be restrained from running to Hearts fans before too, but I cant see why he would have bothered doing anything to your fans unless it was retaliation for something.

Yes, I can confirm it even from my position at the top of section J. As he was running back up the pitch after the goal he half turned towards our support and made some hand gestures. Must admit that being so far away I could not really tell what the gestures were but intent was certainly there! it's a shame as the guy has talent - he does not need to descend to such childish behaviour.

A bit late but here goes, I was really proud to be a Saints fan last night, we played with passion and heart and they gave 100% and thats all you can ask of the team!

Hibs are a good SPL and yet we took them to ET and outplayed them at times, the fans were brill and got right behind the team, and put the Hibs fans to shame with 75% of the crowd and only sang when they were leading!

There was no bad players out there, lets go and take the Bairns!

Just got access to a pc, gutted but so proud, our boys played out their socks last night and we couldn;t really have asked for more from them. Havenlt seen the stats yet but I would imagine our shots on/off target were way above Hibs.

Keep the faith, for 60% of the game wwe were in control and the papers today (except that bastion of impartiality - The Scotsman) are giving us the credit and ranking our lads higher than the Hibs guys.

Hold you head up, it is a proud day to be gutted

Never ceases to amaze me how many people always seem to see the slightest of offensive things during a game rather than actually watching the game itself. :?

As for the game itself, have held off having my say hoping that my feelings would have calmed down by now - god only knows what I would have been like if we had won :***:

Can't think of any more superlatives to add to what has already been said, just needed that bit more composure in front of goal.

The only thing that angered me was the fact that cheat Benji scored at the end. I can accept the fact we were beaten, I can accept the fact we are out. But that dirty scum bag scoring at the end really annoyed me. Whether he is use to Scotland, etc or not you don't act like he did. Like many who come from foreign leagues he has picked up bad habbits and they need to be stamped out! Least Mensing started that process!!

A good effort last night from all the lads and lassies. I was sat with 5 mates of mine (neutrals-but Saintees for the night) who all said we created a briiliant atmosphere.
Same again on saturday, and the double is still on.
A game with sex, drugs and violence. Well, an unfortunate streaker and you're always assured of drugs and violence when Hibs are involved

What was other peoples oppinions on the incident when Jason got brought down just before half time of extra time in the box. Looked to me, all he had to do was tap the ball in before he was clattered from behind, and the ball carried on therefor the Hibs player never touched it. Looked at penalty from where I was and by the reaction of the Saints bench, who were nearly on the pitch, they thought it was a penalty aswell. One of the papers also mentioned it this morning aswel.

I've seen it again on TV and it wasn't a PK in my opinion. The ball was well away from Jason when the guy caught him.

Hibs should have had a PK in the final minute though when Goran nearly had Fletcher's shirt off his back.

Here's the moment the streaker misjudges the leap back over the advertising hoarding! :***:

Last night was one of those moments when you really were Proud to be a Saintee (except when the streaker appeared !!) :***:

The boys showed true grit and determination after losing a poor, early goal, to more than match a team considered to be one of the best in the SPL. We dominated large chunks of the game and if we had just had that slight bit of composure infront of goal, could have very realistically won it.

By extra time our legs were gone, but the loss of the early goal again just succeeded in driving out whatever was left in our legs. The third goal flattered them, as they certainly did not prove to me that they were worthy of a 2 goal lead over us.

I have my own thoughts on some players performances, and things that we could have done, but I am going to keep them to myself and let the team have some well deserved media recognition for an overall, fantastic display.

The morning after the night before. I reiterate what so many have said - so proud to be a Saints fan. Let's hound Gretna all the way.

I just got a bus back from edinburgh to inverness today, it was only 2 hours ago that it sunt in that we got defeated.

I have a few scares of the vicotry. i had been clapping so hard that one of my hands is all cut up and bruised. What a night.

If it was not for the streaker everyone involved with siants gave a great account of themselves.

It was good to see a midfeild apper for once this season just sad that we had to revert to the long slug over the top so many times.

I really hope some of the effort and passion shown last nights gets put in every week. But quite frankly spl football looks like its full of cheats and lady boys. good to see saints giving them a good beating.

They scored we never, that was the only thing that they did better than us. Every hibs fan i met last night said the same thing. It seemed like a usual game against a team in our league, we dominated long spells of the game but could just not finish when we got towards their goal.

The third goal was just sickening though.

The following is taken from Hibs.net and covers the fight a lot of the Saints fans witnessed in the stand to our right...

There is another thread on here about a fight in the wheatfield stand but it seems there are several incidents being confused with each other.

I am writing this thread about an incident which happened in the lower of section Q in which two racist, uneducated, fascist hooligans ended up being arrested.

I was sitting two rows behind these so called Hibs fans.

In the first half, I heard the older looking of these two thugs shouting at Ivan Sproule being an "Irish Pr*ck". To which nobody seemed to notice.

Then early in the second half I heard the same ar*e hole calling Jason Scotland a "Black B*stard", again no one notice except from two women sitting in front of me and directly behind them. Nothing was said to the thug at this point, although the two women in front of me, and myself, were becoming increasingly irritated by this **** bag.

Several moments after this I heard the same thug calling Benjelloun "you p*ki b*stard". One of the women in front of me then asked him to stop, to which the ar*e hole replied with the same thing "Benjelloun you p*ki b*stard". I then shouted at the thug that there was no need in anything like that being said. The thug then told me he was going to batter me and that asked if i wanted to go outside. My dad then asked him to sit down before he was then told he was going to get battered too. We then shouted at security guards and the thug was restrained by fans until the police arrived.

Meanwhile the younger of the two hooligans, with dyed blonde hair, was recording the whole incident and told us were all on camera and him and his pals were going to "get us".
He then punched a man who he was having an arguement with, and was sitting with the two women, i think he was their dad. The man grabbed the second thug by the neck, while the thug repeatedly tried to punch him. He was then arrested by police.

I am writing this thread to make the real supporters aware of the **** we are sharing our stands with and hope we can rid ar*e hole like this from our stand.

Good on the Hibs fans for policing hemselves and getting the guy out.

You unfortunately get idiots in every crowd.

The boy in our row stood up for most of the match kidding on he was injecting himself to the Hibs fans, and then singing to Shields taht he only had one eye whilst standing with a hand oer one eye and his other arm out stretched poin ing to teh sky (think he got Napoleona nd Hitler mixed up) and somehow when we scored managed to jump over 2 rows and a barrier and ended up in the walkway

But overall it was a great night and a great performance from the Club both on and off the park.
