So proud of every single player tonight. Will need to sleep on it before deciding!

only fault i can think of was that Cuthbert perhaps should of saved that free kick. Never realised at the time but watching back on Sky+ it looks as though he could of done better.
Ah well. No point in dwelling on the "what if's..."
So proud of the team, and the support. We gave it absolutely everything we had.
Not ashamed to admit I shed a wee tear at the end.
And its a small but nice little consolation that the Hibs fans acknowledge our effort

Yep we`re getting plenty of acolades but i`d rather a place in the final.Think were just lacking a bit of pace and a wee bit more of a cutting edge, not far away from a very good team though. They played their hearts out, thats good enough for me...

Not a bad player out there tonight but I go for McManus. Superb in defence and rarely gave their strikers a sniff of the ball

Hardie was awesome.
He had to come off tho, as he would be sent off.
His booking hurt us sooooooo much!

Goran for me - amazing a man like that can wear shorts big enough to put Sproule in the back pocket :***:

I think they got the official MoM correct. CAP'N KEV. Led his side by example, and dictated instructions and encouragement to his team-mates all night - a huge calming influence to the players around him.
Also heaped words of praise for PAUL SHEERIN - his set piece delivery caused their centre backs major problems: GORAN STANIC - absolutely majestic coming forward, taking the p*** out of flat footed Hibs midfielders and defenders on several occasions: JASON SCOTLAND - gave their back row a torrid time, working them from left to right and back again. God, how we need to win this league and have him want to stay with us...
Herts
They were all brilliant and did us proud but Ice Man Stanic was simply fantastic and gets my vote.

I'm proud of them all but the job Stanic done on Sproule was terrific. He was my biggest fear before the game but Stanic had him easy - no problems at all.

The great thing for me is, we've played SPL opposition on a few occasions now and the players have done well every time. A lot of clubs say they reckon they'll need a whole new squad when they go up but I don't see that with us, just a bit more depth.
There's a few worries about a few players if we got to the SPL but it wouldn't be fair to focus on those and in any case those guys brought other positives to the game.
As for last night, I went for Derek McInnes. A lot of people were sad to Shez go but on the evidence so far, McInnes is a better player. For a 35-year-old, he was all over the park last night and broke up their play all night.
Like I said last night though, proud of every single one of them.

Still can't make up my mind between McInnes & Stanic, but I am one of those who thought Sherridan would be hard to replace, but am already convinced we are now getting the better deal with the younger legs :***:

Anthony Haggerty (wonder who he supports?) of the Daily Record, who also sometimes gave "expert" analysis on Scotsport First gave his player ratings...
ST JOHNSTONE
Kevin Cuthbert 7
First act of the lifelong Saints fan was to pick ball out of the net after just three minutes. Saved well from Shiels later but blotted copybook by conceding soft extra-time decider.
Andrew Lawrie 6
Solid enough display by former Falkirk full-back who had the unenviable task of trying to shackle both Ivan Sproule and Dean Shiels on the flank.
Goran Stanic 6
Up against flying-machine Ivan Sproule and stuck manfully to his defensive duties. His defencesplitting pass released substitute Filipe Morais who set up crucial goal for Scotland.
Derek McInnes 5
Struggled to cope with livewire Scott Brown all night as youth triumphed over experience. Almost levelled the match for Saints with a shot that whistled inches past.
Allan McManus 6
Vice-captain and former Jambo was rightfully booked early for crude foul on Guillaume Beuzelin. Also given tough time by the impressive Steven Fletcher.
Kevin James 6
Always a threat at set-pieces and towering ex-Falkirk and Hearts defender sent a first-half header inches over the top during unhappy return to his former stomping ground.
Martin Hardie 6
Took a while to get to grips with contest as Hibs broke forward at breakneck speed. Hooked two identical chances over the crossbar in second half and booked for foul on Brown. Replaced by Jackson.
Simon Mensing 6
Cup semi-final largely passed the tough tackling former Clyde midfielder by but he cannot be faulted for effort throughout the 120 minutes.
Peter MacDonald 5
Former Rangers youth got absolutely no change out of Hibs captain Rob Jones and was never given a sight of goal. Replaced by Morais in the second half as Saints pushed for leveller.
Jason Scotland 7
St Johnstone's best player this season and dragged the First DIvision underdogs back into the contest with stunning equaliser in 75 minutes.
Paul Sheerin 7
Creative influence in the Saints team but could not conjure up that killer ball in the final third when it really mattered.
SUBS
Filipe Morais 5
On-loan Millwall star replaced MacDonald midway through the second half and crossed brilliantly for Scotland to score.
Andy Jackson 3
Came on for Martin Hardie as Saints fought to find an equaliser and force at least a penalty shoot-out. Booked in extra period for foul on Fletcher.
Not used: Steven Anderson, William Dyer, Bryn Halliwell.

That'll be the same Kevin Cuthbert that spent his entire childhood supporting the dirty huns then!
As for my vote, I've got no complaints about any of the players last night but I'll have to plump for Stanic - made Sproule look like a child most of the night and played a superb through ball for the goal; oh to have had him five years ago.

Can't agree with that Radford, he was one of our many heros. He does a lot of the nitty gritty midfield work by closing down space, spoiling a potential opposition move and slotting the ball simply to team mates. Remember Brown was rated similar to Thomson and so must be valued around £2m. Since McInnes has arrived it is no surprise that the midfield has settled more and has bite allowing Hardie and Sheerin the freedom to power forward. On a few occasions when they were about to break last night McInnes had to use all his experience to prevent damage. I thought they all played well last night. I was convinced Hardie was going to score but he was on the edge after his yellow card so Owen had to take him off.

Just because you put 'FACT' after something doesn't make it a fact. He was a *** either that or he spent his entire childhood mistaking rangers merchandise for Saints merchandise.

I would have to go for McInnes with Hardie and Stanic just behind. Sad to say only two real mistakes in the whole game. (Cuthberts free-kick save attempt and James should have took a step forward and picked up Fletcher for their first goal.) cost us dearly.
Very good performance.
I've never stuggled to pick a MoM like this before, all for good reasons for a change! :***:
Think I'll go with Hardie, his emotion and effort, is something we have been missing since THAT season!

I thought the streaker showed a fair burst of pace up the wing, let down by his poor tackle though and made a pretty bad error in judgement when tryin to vault back into the stand, McInnes prob scrapes it ahead of him.

Agree Stanic had a really good game, but Simon was always there at the back to make sure the doorstep was swept clean. Only made one small slip-up but that didn't cause any problems. Without him I think Lawrie would have been hooked (and some say he should have been - eh Herts?? :***: )

I hate to disagree with Kevin, and worse it seems a shame to crticise any Saints player last night, but I actually thought Mensing had a nightmare in the first half. He did improve as the game went on and as I said it seems very unfair to be overly critical. Hardie was my man of the match. He now looks a real leader on the pitch rather than a nutter who gets silly bookings.
having thought about it, I've picked Hardie too.
He was immense all night and when he went off, we lost alot of our oomph.
All heroes though... and i'm still gutted

Everyone was great, but McManus for me was immense.
Too hard to choose, but I went for Jason - he did loads of other things, but the fact he scored just helps him pip the rest for my vote

Bloody difficult choice. They were all SUPERB.
For me though Hardie shaded it.Until a few weeks ago I didn't rate him but recently his effort and contribution has been immense.
Hail the Saintee HEROES.

I went with Stanic on the vote, but thought they were all superb.......one question though, who really gives a flying **** what team each player supports, they play for saints they play for the jersey end off,cos our keeper was/is a closet *** does this mean he wont try his best for us.....get a grip

I go for big Kev . He won everything in the air in defence & attack. Kept the guys going, leading by example & for a guy of his age with injury problems he was still going after 120 mins. Stanic was a close second & he looked a lot fitter than some of the young Hibs speed merchents.
No failures but as one repoter said the game seemed to pass Mensing by which is my thought on most of the games he plays at right midfield.

I honestly cannot make up my mind, too many to choose from, so I'm gonna have to pass on this one. As soulfulsaint so eloquently put it, i'll rupture myself on the barbed wire fence of in this case indecision.

Del for me (again!!!). Snuffed Scott Brown most of the 90 minutes, ran out of legs in the extra 30. Between him and Hardie, Brown and Beuzelin were bullied about and they showed that they can play at a good level.
