This thread makes me jealous to the core. Can I wish all the Edinburgh Saintees a boozy journey, a brilliant great day out and some serious headaches on Monday morning? Remember you don't drink brasso you polish cups with it.

Have a great one guys C'mon da Saints

Cool, thought it would be that. Still can't believe the train times. Obviously nobody will ever want to go to Edinburgh from Cowdenbeath/Dunfermline etc anytime before 12 on a Sunday?!?!

How about buses from Dunfermline?! Do they not suit any better?

Hi Dunfermline saint...

I am getting the 10.27 from dalgety bay which gets into haymarket at 11.00 It stops at inverkeithing at 10.32 so could you get that too?

My plan is to jump off the train at haymarket at 11.00 and get the 11.04 to glasgow. What could possiblely go wrong with this tight timetable?! Nothing is ever late on the trains! :? :!:

Finally made it back. Great turn out for the train today, I think everyone was surprised how many fans turned up at Waverley.

Might be some time before some of the guys to recover after a 'few' post match drinks in Glasgow.

Special mention to everyone who contributed to the 'old jakey' at Mnt Florida station and kept him in food. Unfortunately he did turn to the bin for his tea before we left :?

geoff was right!!

Big John who's got the lease for The Phoenix Bar Edinburgh has had to put our beloved pub on the market as bevvy sales are not enough to run the pub at a profit. He has requested that the brewery fit a small kitchen in the current cellar so he can serve decent food to hungry punters, but the brewery has refused.

So far there have been several notes of interest - one from a consortium that has links to George Street. If The Phoenix falls into the hands of this corporation the soul will be sucked out and our memories of being welto'd at the back of the pub after Pure (or any other Friday night institution) will all but have gone.

John doesn't want to hand the pub over but his hand is being forced by the brewery.

Please sign to show your support in John keeping The Phoenix as it is (and maybe paint the outside black, get square tables, get cheaper spirits and serve decent food...)

There is a tv in the, hopefully by saturday, refurbished Mathers. In fact there are several. I would try to come along early as it fills up like a Dundee fan realising they are doomed .
Worst case scenario, we will alight to the Phoenix down the road, or the uber expensive (but quiet) Star Bar nearby.
Fellow Embra Saints please read and attend.

If any of you boys are getting a train through, get a train to livi north then come to Da Vinci's. There's a good selection of food, sport etc. It'll be a couple of quid in a taxi and is half way between the station and the ground

Me, my brother and my dad will be there pre match for a few then we make the 10-15 min walk to the ground.

Hello, children of a lesser god....

Myself and the legend that is Saint Jason coincidentally met earlier today, in a certain Broughton Street shitehole and the outcome was...

Mathers shall be open from 10 o'clock on Saturday, purely for Saints fans (note I didn't say Saintees, and note it well), they will be putting on filled rolls wi bacon and stuff. Let's remember they don't need to do this at all and show our appreciation.

It looks like there shall be 2 trainloads of us going, some have morning commitments but rest assured, through the medium of modern telephonic communication we shall all convene at a point yet to be decided, and a ruddy good day shall be had by all.

So....get yer shitey arses to Mathers (not the west end one cos it's gash) just after 10, say a brief hello if you know nae kent and let's have a ruddy bloody good day!

Gentlemen

May I insinuate myself into your company tomorrow? I quite fancy a wee trip to Dunfermline and a couple of beers. I've been meaning to intoduce myself to some fellow Embra Saints for a wee while.

I reckon I should be able to make Mathers for about 11.

I'm ok, my mate's feeling the pain in his wallet though...

I did warn him about driving a Porsche 911 on 3rd party insurance!!!

Anyway, I'll try and make it if i can, but if not im sure it'll be a great day and if you've never met any other saintees in Edinburgh, this is as good a chance as any!

Sainteesean, thats sounds interesting ,what happened?

just me and the edinburugh saints were on the train where all the dunfermline fans were getting off, some hand signals were transferred between fans, and we were singing top of the league and your no and so fourth, so then the dunfermline fans ran as far as they could after the train shouting insults back and fourth (we were obviously replying).

not a very family friendly sight, but a right laugh anyway.

pars fans looked lke fannys.

edit to add (now i have your attention) - thanks for today, well done.

Hey,

Keep me posted for your next Edinburgh Saints get together.

I've checked this site for many a year, but never stupidly joined. I have now!

I'd assume you all enjoyed a fine Saturday at EEP.

Top of the league - now time to stretch the lead.

Aye, good day out was had! 14 year old Pars fans seemed to think they had stepped straight out of green street!

Never made it to Mathers but it was a good day out on the train, probably more folk made the effort on Saturday than went to the semi on the train with us last season which says a lot.

Cracking day out made even sweeter by those 14 year old Dunfy fans chasing after the train giving us the wanker signs!!! Funny as feck!

Hopefully a few of my football games will fall victim to the weather, if not I'll see you all at the games over the festive period - train to Dingwall on the 3rd January anyone?

Just to change subject completely, had a cracking meal on Saturday night at a wee italian on Dundee Terrace called Piatto Verde. 3 courses, a litre of wine and coffees for £20 a head! Well worth a visit for any of the west side Saints!

Nah, west side of Edinburgh! There's not too many of us about St T, most of our fellow Embra Saints appear to be East End Tinks! We're a dying breed.

Good to see everyone again at the weekend, cracking day as usual. I'll see you all when my football is next cancelled (or if I can think of another random excuse to call off!) I'll bring Nikki along again - her unbeaten record stretching back to THAT Hamilton game is still intact!

Howdy all.
Hope you all had a jolly time on Saturday. The good news is that I have had a wee tete a tete avec the boys from Mathers and they would be delighted to put a framed Saints shirt up on the wall. Anytime we have an away day they are prepared to open a wee bit early and put on some food (and perhaps a drink:)) for the happy throng of Saintees.
Furthermore all the reports I got from barstaff and punters was that you all did yourselves and the club proud both before and after the game in the big M.
Next time I will be there.......................on Saturday I was Somewhere Else.

Saint O'Leith is a very busy boy though. Not sure if it would be worth getting a bus to the City of Discovery. The Challenge Cup was different as it was on a sunday and public transport was not readily available. However, if anyone else wants to run a bus please do so. I am sure Mr O'Leith can give youse all the details (Charlie Irons I believe).
