After a years absence, PSJ once more travelled to the deepest darkest depths of Aberfeldy to compete in the ‘Feldy Challenge Cup, this time faced with a much stronger ‘Feldy side. PSJ stalwart Rodge was again dramatically playing and managing for the ‘Feldy side with G taking over the reins whilst Gaffer Al had a much needed summer holiday. PSJ were also without their influential Captain who was on his honeymoon so missing three key players, the signs were not good for the Perth side. Things looked even worse when the teams turned up at the ‘Feldy Fortress to be faced with no goalposts or referee; however Rodge and his glamorous assistant Scoop soon sorted these issues out. G read out the team and had unbelievably benched himself and PSJ legend Jinky. Chopper and Ben lead the line up front with once-a-year player Callum Stewart back to help out on the left of midfield.
Onto the game and PSJ exploded out of the blocks with Wonka clean through inside 30 seconds but ‘Feldy keeper Scoop Junior saved well at his feet to deny the pop star his first of the season. The next PSJ attack saw Ben bundle the ball over the line but Scoop Junior reacted quickly to pull it back into play before the blinkered referee could give a goal. G was going mental on the sidelines and ‘Feldy troops were loving it. ‘Feldy then raced up the pitch and in a defining moment of the match, a beautiful lobbed effort came back of the underside of Wee Lee's bar. PSJ escaped and piled on the misery for Rodge when Ben smashed home from six yards. Then, in the first game of the new season, a sure-fire contender for goal of the season and probably his life was scored by Chopper. After nutmegging Rodge on the edge of the box, the big man turned and fired home from 25 yards right into the postage-stamp top left corner. 2-0 and cruising until a speculative BJ pass back was lashed at by Wee Lee and it fell to Cossie who lofted it over the hapless PSJ keeper into the empty net. A fine finish it has to be said. This rocked PSJ but the boys did well to get back on track and just before half-time Jinky replaced a triumphant Chopper. His impact was immediate with a lovely headed knock-down into the path of Wonka who stroked it like a baby into the bottom corner.
Half-time arrived and with it the worst move of the match. G came on and proceeded to commit 4 cynical fouls in the second half without doing much else. The home support were howling for retribution for the wee man but luckily Niall Dewar and his compatriots weren't in too bad a mood. Not much to say about the second half expect PSJ clung on for dear life with little sign of any attack. To make matters worse, dodgy refereeing saw Juan penalised for handball on the edge of a box and Gordon Leighton converted the penalty. 3-2 was the final score and PSJ survived to retain the trophy once more.
Back to the Fountain for refreshments and the less said about that the better. However, it was job done and manager Al was on the phone from Barcelona straight away to hear the good news. He still doesn't believe Chopper scored that goal though...

Thanks to G's mate Jesus for this report... if anyone else would like a shot of reporting from a game thsi season, please let myself know.
Kev Brockman, Boran and Pink's reporter mate will all help out along with Jesus, anyone else?
I'd just like to state for the record Chopper has never and will never nutmeg me! I think the reporter will find he megged the other Feldy centre half Skid. I may have the worst managerial record in the history of the world but I'm no having that slur added to my already distinctly dodgey reputation.
PSJ 0 Athletic Bilbino 1
PSJ - Wee Lee; Dunbar, Rodge, G, Chips; Elvis, BJ, Stewart, Pink; Al, Capt. Subs - Wonka, Rocket, Beatson.
PSJ MOM - Dunbar
Opposition MOM - Dunbar
Isambard St Chapterhouse reports from the Cage.
Resplendent in a mixed bag of new shorts and socks PSJ took the field for the first time since 'Feldy looking to get the season off to a good start against Athletico Bilbino. With special celebrity guest referee Dick Campbell in place there was a wave of excitement in the air.
One major surprise in the team news caused by the lack of a role for PSJ stalwart "Big Broom". Arriving ready for the now traditional pre-kick off goal mouth sweep he was distraught to find that not only was there no puddle in each goal mouth but there was in fact grass in its place. Bad news for the broom, good news for Wee Lee in the PSJ goal, although the length of the grass away from the goal mouth meant that he would need a machete to make any hurried clearances.
With the conditions wet underfoot it was no surprise to see a few mistimed challenges early on. Athletico having played the week before were setting the pace and playing some nice passing football, but any real chances were few and far between. The closest either side came to scoring was a headed clearance from G that just cleared the top of the post.
Up front for PSJ Captain Kev was doing his fair share of running and winning plenty of ball in the air but PSJ still failed to capitalise on this as the ball skidded through more often than not to the Albion keeper.
The only goal of the game came midway through the first half when Stirling won a thrown deep in PSJ territory. In the build up to the goal G and the Stirling centre forward had been engaged in heated debate on the pros and cons the single European currency of which had reached boiling point with fists being swung. In true PSJ style when the ball was swung across to the back post it was our articulate debating friend on hand to head it home unchallenged. "Down with the pound" he seemed to say as he returned to the half way line.
The rest of the half continued in the same vein with few real chances for either side.
After the break the pattern of play changed little with Stirling twice unlucky to extend their lead as they hit the woodwork.
Of more concern to all was the injury late on to Davey Rocket. The latest in a long line of PSJ players to suffer the nasty head knock. Davey appeared in some distress, confused, bewildered and unsure of his location. Classic symptoms of concussion but with Rocket you never can tell.
All in all an encouraging start to the season for PSJ against a team that will undoubtedly hand out the odd drubbing this year. The unbeaten start to the season is over but there is still much to look forward to.

Fir Park Corner 3 PSJ 2
PSJ Scorers - Rodge & Wonka
PSJ MOM - Wonka. Oppostion MOM - Geezer
PSJ - Wee Lee, Dunbar, Rodge, G, Nips; Wonka, Bee J, Elvis, Pink; Rocket, Geezer. Subs - Stewart, Sumo, Al.
Despite Rodge's cunning plan to sabotage this game it went ahead as planned in sunny, yet rainy Blantyre. In the latest in his series off Dundee United linked sabotages, Agent Rodger tried to scupper PSJs plans by making a car full of PSJ stars follow him straight to the ground. Luckily for all, the PSJ driver, Wonka, saw through this dastardly plot and arrived 25 minutes after the conspirator! No luck this time DAB!
PSJ started well and created a few good chances with Stevie always looking to get in behind the Motherwell defence. However it was Fir Park Corner who took the lead following the usual blend of novelty defending and a good touch from the striker, which allowed him to smash a shot in from 10 yards.
At half time PSJ were trailing but not yet out of the game by any means. This was proved in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The equaliser came when Agent Rodger glanced home a corner from the right. No sooner had FPC comes to terms with losing a goal to Rodge they were hit by another hammer blow. Gaffer Al launched a pin point punt to the edge of the 18 yard box, the well defender hesitated allowing the ball to bounce, presumably to allow the snow off the ball before he cleared it, but instead allowed Wonka to charge in a placed a delightful lob over the keeper. PSJ were up!
The game ebbed and flowed for the next 20 minutes with good chances for both teams, Al unlucky to see the ball thump him on the arse and trickle past the upright. Considerable closer than Al has managed with his feet in some time.
However no PSJ lead would be complete without a collapse. Well equalised from a high hanging corner and to complete the misery with minutes to go they snatched victory with a goal direct from the corner. A tough blow to take that would at least be softened by an easy Saints win at Broadwood. Surely.

PSJ gained a comfortable victory against their Thistle supporting counterparts in a competitive game at the Cage. The game was really marked by two stunning Al Christie strikes which set PSJ on the path to victory.
Following an intensive session with newly appointed sports psychologist Graeme "Mad Richards Brother" Rodger Christie was ready to go with the words of cult movie Cool Runnings ringing in his ears. As early as the second minute he had dispossessed the Thistle centre half and rifled a long range effort into the net over the head of the despairing keeper, who was in no way influenced by the bottle of red wine he had quaffed on the bus journey up.
Thistle grabbed an equaliser mid way through the half when hesitation at the back allowed some boy in to score. PSJ were not to panic however with Christie producing another moment of sublime genius (well none of the rest of you bothered to wrtie this report!!!) by taking the ball wide of the full back and delicately chipping the keeper from the angle of the box. 2-1 at half time to PSJ.
PSJ quickly extended their lead just after the interval, good work by Pink down the left resulted in a cross for Geezer to head his first goal of the season. Further chances game there way but by utilising all 7 subsititutes the game lost its rythmn. However PSJ could be pleased with their display here.
A quick word for the Thistle boys who were a pleasure to play against and 100 times more so that Sparta Jag. Heres hoping for a return game in Glasgow later in the season.

Isembard St Champerhouse reports:
Following the International match on the Saturday PSJ took the trip to Dunndee to take on Arab FC. PSJ arrived in Dundee to find those sneaky Dundonians had made the game virtually unplayable with the installation of a huge fan which blew a gale across the mountanous playing surface. However on the possitive side the smell of stale alcohol from the previous nights excesses was helpfully carried away on the hurricane.
A few new faces in the PSJ ranks had to wait a while to make their debuts due to the completele lack of a referee, but when the game finally got underway it was one of those debutants who gave PSJ the lead. Some clever play on the edge of the area culminated in a cracking reverse pass from Al to the overlapping Stephen who tucked the ball away nicely. PSJ leading at half time.
The second half saw PSJ playing in to the wind and were understandably up against it so it was no real surprise when Arab equalised, and then scored another, and another and then another. Much to the frustration of all concerned. A disappointing afternoon in the end with 4 scrappy goals conceded and one shirt collar ruined.

Isembard St Chapterhouse reports from Castlemilk.
From the changing rooms at Castlemilk you can gaze out and take in a view of Scotlands largest city, from the buckie swilling slums of Maryhill to the smack ridden towers of Easterhouse. It is easy to allow the mind to wonder and try to estimate how many crimes are taking place at any given moment. It is possible however, that the most outrageous crime in the city this morning took place on the pitch, where PSJ escaped with that rarest of novelties; a win.
Games against against Queens are normally close and this one was no exception. The game was played on a difficult pitch, so sandy that you would expect Eric Cantona to be volleying shots from the kick off, which sapped the energy as the balled skidded off it.
PSJ took the lead in the first half, a cross from the left was flicked on by Kev into the space at the back post where G arrived to knock the ball home. No side really deserved to be behind, but PSJ have regularly found themselves behind despite being on top.
As the game entered the second half, manager Al Christie decided to opt for a change of shape to counter the queens attacks. This lasted for all of 5 minutes as the shaddow chasing seemed to get worse. It was backs to the wall stuff with PSJ clearances falling more often than not to black and white shirts and for the last 20 minutes or so PSJ were reduced to counter attacking moves to produce their chances, all of which were passed up.
The final whistle came as great relief to all and PSJ walked away with the kind of lucky result that doesn't come round very often. I think we'll take it.

Just you stick to the counting ODAB.
The overhead kick was a perfect example of practice making perfect. Was just getting a feel for it at Airdrie last week and then it was executed to perfection on Saturday. It is an absolute travesty that PSJ games are not recorded, although I hear Setanta are making an approach ahead of next season :D
