View Full Version : PSJ Fantasy Football 2007/2008
Before you start.....I know it is early, but may as well get it underway.
Have managed to find another free version this year and it allows you to make unlimited transfers up until the start of the season in August so don't worry about picking a crap team just now - just get registered and you can change it at a later date.

Once you have picked your team go to "leagues" and enter this code to join the PSJ league: 23363-7420.
Everyone welcome as long as we know who you are!
Can G, Al and Pink get a challenge this year? I doubt it

That's coz nobody else has given a toss about it! :D
I'll give a try this year then, if I remember to update it once in a while.

The Spirit Squad are in
Only 7 teams entered out of a squad of over 40 PSJ players last year - poor show. Guess you are all running scared of the triumphant Frankly.

Aye Good are currently locked in an army barracks getting fit for the new season following the chronic disappointment of a runners up slot last season. They will be back, bigger and better than ever.
I pressed autocomplete again.

Crackheads are in
As are current World Champions Aye Good.

Shocking how you are going to live off that title for the next 3 years, shocking. You are only as good as your last competition.

So Italy are not the current World Champions, they are just living off that title? Makes sense
Can change it to perennial PSJ Fantasy Football Champions if you like :D

I honestly think I'll scrape mid-table obscurity this year...
How does it work?

See the heading called "Rules" - that tells you everything boyo. Much more scope for winning extra points this year so no excuse for those hitting "auto-complete"!

Okay read them, as I am up for it this year (just now!). Did autocomplete but have beefed up my team from there.
Two things I'm a bit baffled about...
1) Subbies, do they only come into play if someone in my first 11 does not play?
2) Transfers, I know they are unlimited just now, but am I allowed 1 each week during the season if required?
Subbies seem to be done automatically for you, but you control the order in which they are used. eg if your first team striker doesn't play then he will be replaced by your No.1 subby, as long as the resultant formation is one of the formations allowed.
You get one transfer a week, but you can make more but have to pay for it with points.
I think.

Cheers Pink, that's how I understood it, but wasn't sure...
Right bring it on!!
One week left to either get your team entered or make unlimited transfers.....

Rumours are sweeping the fantasy world that a prize will be on offer this year? Can this be backdated?

Not at all. Previous Fantasy's have been a warm-up for this year.....
I can exclusively reveal that the winner of this years Fantasy Football shall be awarded with a £20 voucher to spend in the Saints Club Shop. If that is not an incentive to join, I don't know what is.
PSJ players only though I'm afraid for all those FF sharks looking to make an easy 20 bucks.
One week left to either get your team entered or make unlimited transfers.....
Ignore me (you usually do!).........you are able to make unlimited transfers up until Saturday, 11 August 2007.
10 teams in now. Where are you Rocket, Spew, Jinky etc etc? £20 of Saints Club Shop Vouchers to be won here!

Last reminder I am going to give you before the season starts on Saturday.... Get yourself entered into this. Always a good laugh to see how your team has done in the end-of-season fanzine after ignoring it for a whole season.

Hi guys, it was decided that on top of the £20 award for league leader, we'd also have a £15 award for a wee internal cup winner. The cup will be run by the same rules as the actual game's cup comp, i.e. who ever get's the biggest score that week goes through etc. This should give a bit more interest to those who are falling off the pace...
We have 12 teams, so 4 got byes into the Quarter Finals.
The draw was going to take place yesterday, but after the postponement, a draw was conducted under the watchful eye of an independent PSJ witness, Chips (Saint Of Raith).
One game will be played each week as described in the seperate thread I will start now...
I see Ronaldo has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Go to www.iwish.co.uk for confirmation.
I forgot to send Kev an article about the fantasy football for the fanzine - have copied it below for those that are interested.
PSJ FANTASY FOOTBALL 2007/2008
The official Barclays Premier League fantasy football was chosen this year and it provided a welcome addition to the PSJ season. Much thought had to go into team selections on a weekly basis and a degree of intelligence was required to understand the scoring system – no wonder Dunbar’s Crackheads struggled at the wrong end of the table.
The usual goliaths of Christie, Duncan and McLaughlan were joined this year by Capt Kev’s Crappers who put in a valiant attempt at the top of the table until the birth of his first child derailed their campaign. Conversely the birth of two mini G’s led to Frankly enjoying an upturn in form and saw them victorious by a margin of 125 points from the perennially unlucky Aye Good. Serious questions are now being asked of the World Champions following this second successive runners up finish to their less illustrious rivals. Christie’s transfer policy left a lot to be desired and there is persistent talk of him leaving to front new outfit “There’s Your Dinner”. However sources close to the fast paced attacker claim he will stay for an attempt at the Euro 2008 crown.
If Aye Good’s season is being classed as one of rank underachievement then much the same and more can be said for the mysterious Chris McLaughlan and his Spritely Old Puffins. They never really got going and McLaughlan swanning off to far flung locations can hardly have helped matters. His defeat to the aforementioned Crackheads in the first round of the PSJ Fantasy Cup perhaps summed up matters best.
Credit must go to Kevin Heller and his Crappers who enjoyed a remarkable turnaround from their usual struggles at the bottom. It remains to be seen if this sort of form can be continued into next season. Begrudging congratulations also need to be offered to Frankly Mr Shankly who provided an unmatched level of consistency over the course of the season. Their style of play may leave a lot to be desired but they won’t care a jot about that.
Douglas Frew gave us the wonderfully named 110 Toes but that is about all he gave us. Lucky Dip somehow managed to win the Fantasy Cup with a remarkably lucky victory over Aye Good in the final. Aye Good were jet lagged after their huge success in the Fantasy Cup which involved literally millions of teams worldwide. A request to extend the season was denied, further enhancing the conspiracy theories from their followers.
Adrift at the bottom were the Spirit Squad, managed by Mark Christie. With a strikforce of Tevez, Torres and Anelka it really takes a special talent to finish 302 points adrift of Dunbar at the bottom.
Keep your eyes open for the Euro 2008 Fantasy Football and also next seasons league affair. The more teams the merrier.
