Now that our season is officially gubbed, what next? Do we try youngsters now and let them prove their worth the hard way or stick with broadly the same team who have hit the heights of Hamilton at McD and yet plumbed the depths of Gr*tna? Who is signed for next season and who should be signed - current Saintees included? Cuthbert, Stanic and Sheridan have proved their quality, whilst Milne is a "certainty", so who else deserves the opporchancity to wear the Royal Robes? Of equal importance, who gets their P45; players and coaches?

Do you know of any get-out clauses in Milne's contract? I was surprised we got him on a three year deal and doubt he will want to play in the first division again next year. Presumably most folk would be accept selling Scotland if he stars in the World Cup, but would selling Savo be deemed either justifiable or prudent?

Personally, I am terrified at the thought of losing him and I think we're gonna suffer against Clyde without him, not to mention not having Sheridan...

Massive clear out

No, because we did that last year. St. Mirren are the team to emulate and although they didn't set the heather alight last year they kept the majority of the squad and made tweaks here and there (Maxwell, Potter, Corcoran, Sutton and Kean IIRC) thus giving continuity and a familiarity about the squad to hit the ground running.

We need additions no doubt and some players will go, but nothing like a clear out leaving 4 players is suitable IMO.

I'm sure Milne would love to play higher up than the First Division, but so would most people! What makes you think there will be any interest in him in the summer? He's a First Division striker who hardly ever scores or looks like scoring. It's not that I don't rate him, but his from lately has been woeful, and even if he wasn't injured I'd have him dropped at the moment anyway.

So basically I wouldn't make very many changes to the squad. I think 3 or 4 new players to strengthen the right areas between now and the start of next season and we'll be a much stronger team. I'd bring in a left winger and preferably a right-winger too, an energetic creative central midfielder, and (possibly, but of less urgency) I'd be on the lookout for a goalkeeper and right-back better than what we have.

We need to sign a centre midfielder as I feel Sheerin would perform better with a better player alongside him. two wingers, someone who can beat a man and get a cross in. Think James and Ruti can gel over the rest of the season into a good partnership at the back.

For every Owen though, there's a Craig Brewster. I'm not saying either is right or wrong but I think a lot depends on the person and whether they are able to seperate themselves from the players.

Agreed, but some would benefit from putting a bigger gap, and it would appear that the players are not doing what Owen has asked of them, so a change of tact may be beneficial.
