Wanted: A healthy bank balance which will allow us to attract some quality signings, if we cant tempt the barca boys from coming over.

No he's not - he is a striker who has been known to play out of position when he was at Aberdeen and Caley.

I thought it was Totten at us!?

The story I've heard is that Luggy was at a Man U training session looking at players (or something along those lines - basically he was watching some of their boys somewhere) and he pointed out "that ginger boy" and said he fancied a bit of himin our side.

He was of course told where to go!

May not have been Scholes, but did Totten not approach Man United for one of that mob that came through along with Scholes.

Surely Scholes was making a name for himself before Luggy became gaffer!?

Luggy became gaffer in 1994/95 and the famed "you'll never win anything with kids" team was 95/96 IIRC. Scholes would have been coming through about then.

Knowing us, we would have ended up with Chris Casper or Kevin Pilkington!!!

You might be thinking of Sean MacAuley, who Totten signed from Man Utd?

I've heard basically the same story as Jamie - Alex Ferguson invited Sturrock down to watch one of their training sessions to see how they did it. While there, Ferguson asked Luggy if there were any of the younger players that he fancied taking to Saints - Sturrock pointed out Scholes and was, of course, told to forget it!

GB went down with Luggy to look at a player on Fergie's advice, after the 1st half they both decided the player was gash, Fergie had them in his office at half time and asked them what they thought about the player, no good but we like the wee red haired player, we'll take him.
No chance, he'll be the next Dalglish, was Fergie's reply.

TRUE STORY.

Don't think Prunty would be a good signing. Another midget striker is not what we need, plus he was pretty mediocre at Aberdeen and Caley Thistle. He's from Airdrie, which was why I think he signed for them in the first place, and he only signed for them in the summer, so I don't think he'd want to come to saints anyway.

*puts sweeping generalisation hat on*

We should not be looking at any one from this division they are not good enough end of. I think the performances of the so called better players from this division that we have bought have prooved this

Not for us then. This is from BBC Sport.

Airdrie United striker Bryan Prunty has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2008.
He follows the lead of winger Willie McLaren, who signed a similar deal earlier this week.
Meanwhile, midfielder and captain Raymond Logan, defender Martin Campbell and striker Gareth Wardlaw have extended their contracts with Ayr.
The trio have committed themselves to the Division Two club until the summer of 2008.
