anti virus

alright people. just got myself a new computer (2nd hand) on windows xp. can anyone put me in the right direction of a good free anti virus program? want to start a bit of downloading :wink: but been advised to get a good program so my computer stays safe. cheers

Paying for a decent anti-virus scanner is so much better than the free ones, but for free...

Not virus scanner's but spyware scanners. Which are also very handy
Ad-aware SE (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware)
Spybot Search&Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)

Scan with each of them every so often to keep your system secure :)

I would also suggest a firewall if you aren't using one at the moment.

I just bought nortons antivrus2006, the free download ones are at times a bit dodgy

I downloaded a anti spam program for my outlook though, they try to get you to buy it, but you just run the free version
