Ruti. Our defense has improved because of this boy!

Rusty for me - plenty of good performers today but it was the first time the defence looked solid, especially when we went down to ten men.

Apologies about the title, hopefully Admin can correct it.

Stewart ran his heart out even before we were reduced to 10 men. I'm sure he would have been a lot more productive if he had been paired with just about anyone, but the off form Peaso.

Happy to oblige - much more fun than deleting crap all the time :D

Struggling, but I think Ruti deserves it for bossing the defence again.

I'm still really torn here. Main was rock solid again on a greasy pitch and won us a point with a great save at the end. I've grown to like KC over the past year but Main has already proved why we've brought him back, he's making saves KC just wouldn't.

Andy Lawrie deserves a lot of credit for stepping into an unfamilar role at late notice and the other three defenders were excellent.

Sheerin is often accused of hiding but always wanted the ball and tried to boss things today. He didn't always succeed against two very good opponents but he did well.

Stewart ran his arse off and his movement was really good, and obviously he scored the goal.

Because of the dodgy start to the campaign though, I'm gonna go for Chalky McManus.

Another of those rare moments in life when I agree with my son - that is actually an excellent shout :D

Anderson gets my vote - just aead of McManus, Rusty and Sheerin. Lawrie looked far more comfortable at left back than at right. Much improved display from Saints this week.

If he hadn`t got himself sent off it would have been Hardie so I will have to go with McManus as he played well & never gave the 8 ft odd centre much of a sniff of the ball.

Voted for Stewart, just ahead of Rusti.
Think this will boost Stewarts confidence to go on for more, he needs a good parner though.

Rusti for me.

Fantastic and Strong throughout. A leader in defense.

I thought there wasn't anyone else who stood out. Stewart scored but kept on going for the same ball as Peaso, we dont need players bashing into each other!

MON THE SAINTS - KEEP THE FAITH!

John Stewart for his running and a sublime strike but there were many others who showed a dramatic improvement

McManus is a good shout, really led by example today. The entire back four deserves credit, Lawrie especially for adapting to the left back position at short notice and playing better there than he ever has done at right back.

I'll give it to McManus though, really good performance.

I wonder if Coyle will now concede that there is a better partnership than James and McManus out there? For the good of our campaign, Rutkiewicz has to be included in the starting line up every week.

I've been impressed with McManus' performances in our last two matches, particularly yesterday. Playing like that, I have no worries about him being part of the line up.

Alongside Steven Anderson!

I think Anderson should become our first-choice right-back. I know he's been bad there in the past and that his best position has always been at centre-half, but I thought that towards the end of last season he was vastly improved there and, if he's given a chance to get used to the role and a little bit of specialist coaching, he could make the position his own. Realistically, he's never going to be viewed as the first choice central defender and will always struggle to get a game if he views that as his position - but I think he has a real opportunity to make the right-back slot his own.

Fair point. I just hope he gets a regular start as he's too good to be sitting watching.

Don`t know why he can`t relistically viewed as first choice centre back. He has been outstanding most times he has played there so I think he should partner Ruti ahead of McManus or James even if he recovers as neither of them will be fit enough for the SPL next season.

I agree with you that he is good enough, but previous experience suggests that Coyle will always drop him from centre-back in favour of the more experienced players when they are fit. I can't see that situation changing for the foreseeable future. He does, however, have a genuine chance at the moment of making the right-back position his own.

He only had one save to make, great though it was. Only came for corners or cross balls twice ,both of which he dropped.
Spent too much time playing up to the crowd causing him to throw the ball out for a throw & kick the ball out for a corner when we were under pressure in the last few minutes. Not what you expect from an experianced keeper.
