Sitting here and having a wee bev and listening to some tunes.

Riddle me this: Apart from the Saints, who or what is better than the Beatles?

A.C./D.C.?

I'm so Thunderstruck I can't Come Together. (No sex jokes, please.)

At this time of the morning...and in the state I'm in....

In primary school as a 8 year old we used to sing, in the playground to the AC/DC tune

Its a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll

In high school it was

Its a long way to the cross if you want to f..k a mole

Kings Cross is the red light district of sydney

Kings Cross is the red light district of sydney

Was it always? I used to hang around there all the time but either I was too innocent or too stupid to notice.

I lived in Sydney for a while back in the early sixties.

The cross is where all of the girls who stand on the cnr like to hang out, plus the low life drug dealers who feed them their crap through a needle.

Its changing though, they are now standing in the back lanes of kings cross :(

Late 60's early 70's is when the cross went from being a nice place to the dive it is now according to some of the people at work here who were around back then.

Yeah, I can see that. Places usually go downhill fast when I've been there.

I dunno why that is. :?

on the other hand I heard real estate prices go through the roof once you leave :D

if you can picture the darlinghurst road strip with all its cabaret clubs which sinatra, sammy davis jnr, dean martin etc all played at, now think of those clubs being replaced by strip joints, tattoo parlours etc.

a convienance store was busted for selling meat pies for $2.50 apparently if you wanted some sauce it cost you an extra $90 for the special white sauce.

it also has a legalised shooting gallery in the middle of the strip run by the council.

i went there recently on a site inspection and saw junkies injecting between their toes, their arms and legs, one junkie o'd when i was there, quite sad that they choose to do that to themselves

I'm a beer man, myself, and I've never understood the attraction of drugs, particularly the kind one has to inject.

I worked in a gas station just a block or two from Darlinghurst and it used to be a pretty nice neighbourhood. 'Fecked if I know how I manged to bring it down.

The first night I was in Sydney the #1 song in Oz was Del Shannon's "Runaway", so that will give you some idea of when I was there.

'Me apol***oggies for messing up your city, Pezz. 'Didn't mean to. :( ( :) )

Its actually quite a nice area at the cross bar the odd social problems, right on the water looking over parts of the harbour.

trust me there are plenty of places you didnt visit down here which is pretty much f...ed up

I think there is a service station down near harry's cafe de wheels and one near the fire station, in the area, the rest are gone.

the old archibald fountain on the cnr of macleay and darlinghurst road, is where the young boys sit to get picked up, very sad to see kids 10 or 11 years old sitting there.

for some reason or other the cross is a magnet for kids who run away or leave home, when we were younger we couldnt wait to go there, one night a few of us road our push bikes there, we did a lap up and down the street and thought is this kings cross, why all the fuss?, then we went home and the next day we were bragging how we were down at the cross and it was dark.

gee we were all rebels without a clue I say :D

I always thought that Sydney had one of the finest looking harbours along with Wellington and Hong Kong.

It's strange that you mention a fountain, since a wee lassie I knew stole a bottle of her Ould Fella's whiskey and we sat down by the fountain. That Sheila could drink 'way better than I. And, she was fourteen! I was only fifteen 'meself, so don't go calling the Social Agencies. The polis eventually picked us up and put us in the Jile for D and D, but did not call her parents. Oz cops were really cool because they were honestly tough without being bullies. It's not the same everywhere.

Anyway, here's a nip to the old 'Cross.
