View Full Version : Theo Walcott - the next big thing?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/4614538.stm
Report says that Southampton have rejected a 12m bid for him by Arsenal  and that Chelsea might go up to 15m!!
If this is true I am amazed the teams are willing to gamble that amount for a 16 year old.
Can he live up to the price tag or would he have too much pressure on him?
Anyone know of players that age going for prices like that (I know Freddy Adu is attracting big interest)

when i saw this Phill I thought it was a gee up, paying that much for a kid, but i suppose this is what football has come to with player agents and the like.
looks like he wont be coming to us anytime soon

The lad is top class. I have seen him twice on the TV and he has impressed on both occasions and from speaking to a couple of students from our Basingstike office who follow Southampton they say he is better than Rooney, he just needs a bit more bulk and he is sorted
Wenger reckons he will replace Henry, which in itself is no mean feat - possibly even a future record goalscorer for the Gooners.

I've seen Walcott play for Southampton on Sky and he does not look out of place at all, which is impressive considering his age.
If he does sign for the Gooner's then he will deffo be groomed as the next Henry, he has the same physique, pace and potential.
He supposedly prefers Arsenal over Chelsea. I think he would be better off at Arsenal as he would struggle to get first team experience at Chelsea who have a knack of buying young english talent and not playing them (Wright-Phillips for one, Glen Johnson too, well, before he went pish!!).

Yes but you have to look at the fact that that Walcott only started playing football 5yrs ago!!!
