Was on the megabus (http://www.megabus.com) website at the weekend and noticed that our benevolent club sponsors are currently running their Perth-London daytime service for free! Just thought I'd point that out in case anyone fancied taking them up on it!!

Dr Dev has returned on the Megabus that I know of. I am considering this for my next Albion trip (v Spurs on a Monday night). You can fly cheap with www.jet2.com and get the megabus back - sounds like a plan!!!

Quite a few times recently I've flown down to London in the morning, and then got the last Megabus back to Perth from the centre of London at around midnight (normally costs between 10 pounds and 15 pounds). It takes around 10 hours, but as it's overnight I tend to sleep most of the way back anyway. Everytime I've done it the bus has been surprisingly busy - basically packed up until you reach Glasgow. I couldn't believe the size of the queue the first time I did it when I turned up at the stop just before midnight (and it wasn't even the weekend).

As a daily user of the megabus to and from Glasgow, I can tell you it is a very well used service with about 35-40 folk getting the 6.45am bus to Glasgow and a further 12-15 having got on at Dundee. I came back on Friday on the 4.30pm bus and there were 97 people on one of the 109 seaters, and the 5.30 was full. After the revelations about the quality of service before Christmas it has improved out of all recognition with the buses leaving and arriving almost to the minute of the timetable, if not earlier. Direct bus to Glasgow with no stops and a comfy seat, an extra hour of sl;eep before work and all for one pound. Can't really complain too much eh?

The London to Glasgow service is usually full when it gets in at 5.10pm. You really can't believe the number of people getting off then we all pile on and it is full again. Someone has got it right, with the pricing. Firts 10 seats go for one pound then the next 40 for one pound 50p then after that two pounds or two pounds 60p. If you buy within 2 days of the journey the prices start at two pounds 50p and then go up to five pounds if it is really full. If you book well in advance you can even get the Perth to London route for one pound (very few free seats on this route).

Worth a look if you want to travel and it only stops in Glasgow, Manchester and London.
