Can you believe the e***ish media making an erse of Sven?
They never fail, months before the WC and they want to demoralise their own team.
Would this happen in any other country?
They will be on the hunt for certain players now and I gaurantee there will be a scandal or two before the WC involving one or two players, nothing surer with that kind of press behind them.
The weird thing is that the same press will issue a rallying call a week before the the WC starts trying to get the nation behind Sven and the boys with headlines such as "we'll fight them on the beaches" and lots of other warmongering cries.
I'LL TELL YOU, IT WILL ALL END IN LAUGHTER, I'M PEEING MYSELF ALREADY :***:

I think you've gone by the picture... now what he's been calling everyone lately.. oh that's right... ya plonker!
It's a farce... not sure if there will be the other scandals at players, but they will be gunning for Sven and pretty much have since he was appointed (he's not English you know!) and there is nothing surer than the stickers been given away etc... two-faced tossers!

Just think back to the last manager and the hounding he got from some of the press from day 1 who did not want him to succeed come what may.

That is not the same in comparison.
We had not qualified for a tourney, our press never set anything up.
Sven is doing a great job. Bertie was not.
I'm pretty sure that if Jim Traynor set up something like that in the lead up to a WC he would get lynched.

wee john - You're right on all counts :***: great isn't it. Lemmings over the edge.
But the fact is that the tabloid media down here has lost all credibility and that is proven by the dramatic downturn in sales of newspapers. The more fantasy they concoct for their own spreadsheets the quicker people will switch off. The tabloid media are now largely in the business of creating news rather than simply reporting on it. 8)

I remember at the World Cup Finals in Spain in 1982 the Italian manager was taking so much abuse from the italian media that he took the team away to a recluse in the mountains and told the media to "Pisso Offo !!!"
They won the World Cup. 8)

I wouldn't say that's a "fact". The downturn in sales of newspapers doesn't prove any loss of tabloid "credibility" - they still sell far more than the broadsheets. The rise of the internet probably has much more to do with it. The fact that people can also get their "real news" instantaneously from elsewhere is probably also why so many tabloids now "create" their own material.

Bad choice of word, granted it's not necessarily 'Fact'
At least you didn't argue that they now create and manage situations that they duly report as news.

Seems that the English gutter press have finally got their wish and are getting rid of Sven albeit after the world cup.The only downside for the press is that he will still be in charge for the World Cup, and unless they win the cup all we will get will be pages of Sven's heart was never in it,he should have been removed in January etc etc.
After all this is fan power at its strongest and most influencial (the press), they have never liked Sven because he wasn't born with a St Georges cross tattooed on this forarm the words these colours don't run underneath, they expect to win every match and their arrogance will prove England's downfall as they start to turn on whoever let's them down whether that's a certain player or most likely Sven.
I really wonder why anybody wants the England job because no matter what you achieve in the end the personnel attacks from the press week in week out when things start to go wrong really must get to that person ie Taylor.
Imho i think that the press have far too much power in the world of football today , these so called non biased reporters influence the masses on every matter in the game, and it's not just in England that this happens, we've had it up here with Berti and that was before he was given a chance.

While its easy to criticise the News Of The World for setting him up, surely Sven, and his agent, cannot be completely blameless here and must be very naive to have fallen for the ruse.
Let's face it, if you were a national football manager and you, along with your trusted agent, are invited to meet a supposed Sheik in a hotel, or wherever, 5 months prior to the World Cup, are you going to want to talk solely about your team's chances in the tournament and the quality of players you have available for your squad or are you going to talk about how unhappy your star players are at their clubs and how corrupt your national team's major league is :?:
His record's exceptional but he's too much of a liability for the FA for his regular appearances in the media for the wrong reasons. Maybe Sven's finally had enough of the press trying to bring him down, suspected a rat and let loose with various allegations knowing what would happen and get his good pay off from the FA. I can't believe he would be gullible enough to blurt out all those stories to someone he's never met before and even when asked about corruption, he surely would have been professional enough not to answer :?
