Following on from your selection dan. I'd have McManus on for Rusti who IMO had a shocker last night and Weatherston on for Peaso. Dont get me wrong I think Peaso is a great player but its skill rather than pace and by the time he utilises his skill i.e. he stops the run skins the man and then starts the run again, the defence have had the opportunity to get back. Peaso in the winger slot doesnt do the man justice. As always I'd have the Cat on before Main but Main did earn his salt against Raith so fair play to him.
We better put on a better show than we did against Raith or the 0-0 scenario will continue or worse still a Dunfy on the up and up could put the league completely out of the equation for this season.

well with Rutkiewicz and McCaffrey both lipping off last night, i wouldn't bet that they'll be playing.

If all are fit then I would want to go with the same starting 11 as against RR. If we need to change it at the back we have Ando and McManus as cover and if required they will come in and do a good job. Bad news regarding McBreen but again we have plenty options up front so I'm not that concerned.
Big game though and we must not lose any stupid goals , as if we do we'll get turned over.Solid at the back gives us every chance of coming away with all the points and I amconfident that we can do it.
Bad news is I,m doing a job for someone on Saturday so I,m not going to make the game but I,m not going to start till 5 pm so at least I can follow it on here....We can do it!!!!!!!!!
There's not a team like the Perth St.Johnstone.........

I'd stick with the same lineup as well and if we need to replace a defender I'd start Ando ahead of McManus.
This is going to be a tough game - the Pars are on a good run of form. Win for either side would be a big psychological boost as well. So expect a 0-0 snorefest. :)

Early team news from Tay FM (http://www.tayfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=15381):
New signings Daniel McBreen and Stuart McCaffrey will not play for St Johnstone at Dunfermline on Saturday. McBreen will undergo a knee operation tomorrow while McCaffrey is to have a scan on a leg injury he picked up during Tuesday night's Scottish Cup win over Raith. Kevin Rutkiewicz who was also forced off against Rovers should be available for the weekend.

Looking forward to this game, two team who are playing well at the moment, should be a few goals in this one.
Anybody else not convinced with Peaso on the right, he looks like a fish out of water most of the time I think.

17-01-2008, 01:19 PM
I would go with a similar line up to Tuesday with McManus replacing McCaffrey.
Assuming James is not yet fit.
Assuming Hardie isn't fit yet either I'd go for the same midfield.
Up front I'd stick with Jackson, Milne and Peaso.
Not 100% convinced that Peaso is our best option out wide but he has more experience than Weatherston and I think this will be a tough game.
I'd definitely want to give Weatherston at least half an hour though, easpecially when the Pars defence are starting to tire.
If Jackson is having an off day play him straight through the middle or otherwise play him out wide again.

Disapointed in Peaso on Tuesday. He can play, & wins a lot of balls in the air ,especially for his height but he is too gready & i lost count of the times he tried take on one man too many when an easy defence splitting pass was on. Didn`t look intereseted on Tuesday but I would probably start with him on Saturday seeing as Dan is unfit & bring on Weatherston in second half.

Trust Dunfermline to hit form when we are wanting to keep our run going. Shame about McCaffrey he looks good, hopefully his leg scan will show nothing. He did have a bad injury at Inverness. I'll go with a similar midfield/attack and have Irvine, Anderson, McManus/Ruti, Stanic at the back.

Seems like Daal saw red.
A surprisingly bitter report from Dunfermline there.
Good win, not because we were away to a guff team but because we were playing 12 men, the referee had a shocker of a game and gave Dunfermline a foul whenever a Saints player put in an aerial challenge.
Some penalty by Burchill- about 4 yards wide and 3 too high!
Dunfermline are still pish.

"suprisingly small travelling support" - not many folk turn up for this one?
Surprised they are claiming that. The attendance was about 1,000 up on their recent ones so you can draw your own conclusions! I thought we had a pretty decent following there and the atmosphere generated was superb.
Yellow Army!
A gutsy defensive showing from us today where we collected the points without getting near our best, although that was in part down to a determined Dunfermline side.
Outrageous dive from Burchill but justice was done when he missed the PK. Main then made a good save from a free-kick and Hamilton and Burchill both went close with chips. At the other end Sheerin was denied by a great save from Gallacher before into first half injury time Milne released Jackson and he beat Gallacher to the ball to knock it past him and into the net.
Both sides hit the crossbar in the second half from headers from corners (Gallacher magnificently tipped Anderson's effort onto the bar) and both 'keepers had a few good saves. We sacrificed Sheerin for McManus and tried to defend our lead and hit on the break and thankfully it worked. Very nervous second-half though.
to be fair. i thought it was a stonewall penalty radford. good miss though.

From where i was sitting in the Saints there appeared to be a decent enough sized support through. If anything i would say it was a pretty poor home support if anything, think the official attendance was just over the 4000 mark. Pretty poor stuff imo.
onto the game, we rode our luck a fair bit in the first half, Dunfermline started the far brighter, pretty much pressured us from the moment of kick-off until they were awarded a fairly soft penalty, Burchill broke into the box, Irvine put his hands on what appeared to be Burchill's shoulder, which was all the incentive the diving little sh*t needed to go down like he had just be snipered from somebody on top o the Norrie McCathie stand!!
was a debut from Cameron from Utd, and in the first 30/35 mins he struggled badly with the pace of the game, often caught out on the right hand side and failed to offer Irvine any kind of support, was unlucky not to score with a spectacular bicycle kick effort, this seemed to spur him on a bit and after that he looked a little bit more composed on the ball.
bit of a smash in grab in the first half, Sheering was unlucky not to score with a spectacular 25 yard effort which Gallacher did well to save, and then the goal, some great play down the right from Savo Milne, split the two cart horses at the back and Jacko was onto it in a flash, for a brief moment i thought Gallacher was going to come out and half him, but Jacko got there first and fired a low shot into the left hand corner from about 18 yards.
Second half we started a bit better, were hitting Dunfermline on the break with ease at times and probably should have added to our tally, they seemed to have a great deal of difficulty with the long high punt from Main today, the big No. 5 (not sure his name) not surprisingly got hooked about 20 minutes before the end, Scott Wilson was his usual thuggish self, booked for a wild tackle in the second half on Milne when it seemed certain he would burst into the box and score.
Dunfermline's best chance in the second half fell to Hamilton whos powerful header cracked the bar with Main struggling, we also had a couple of great chances to wrap the game up near the end, first Liam Craig burst into the box, went past the defender with ease, all that was required was to roll it across the 6yr box and Milne would have had a tap in, somehow he inexplicably decided to shoot, Gallacher made a good save, the ball ricocheted out to Peaso who brought it down and volleyed it towards the corner but again Gallacher got down well to force the corner, but the look Milne gave Craig said it all really. then from a corner Stevie Anderson burst passed his marker and crashed a tremendous effort off the crossbar which i think Gallacher just managed to get his fingertips to.
All in all it was a cracking game in my opinion, really end to end stuff. Man of the Match was a tough one to call, some outstanding performances from Saints today, Milne, Jackson and Anderson being three but i thought Ruti was utterly fantastic today.

What an enjoyable game! Real entertaining game for both sets of fans.
Both teams had their chances, both teams keepers made cracking saves and both teams had dubious refereeing decisions go against them. We were a very shakey side for the first 30minutes I felt and looked vulnerable, but we got through it and glad we got the first goal as my opinion was whoever scores first will go on to win it. Unfortunately i missed the goal :(
Jackson worked tirelessly up front all day though - he was blowing out of his backside by the end of it, but glad he got a tremendous applause off the park from the crowd. The past few weeks he's just been tremendous, and can't quite believe how prolific he's been since breaking into the side.
Don't know what happened between Daal/Murphy at the end - but nice to see McInnes telling Daal where to go, and seeing Daal throw the toys out the pram and toddle off. Bringing him on is just for 'comedy' moments, isn't it?
Overall, could have been a perfect day (with entertaining football for a change!) but unfortunately Dundee got an equaliser....but i'll take what we've got today.
One thing that struck me today though in the pre match build up - it's a good effort Dunfermline have for geeing the fans up, although it got a tad annoying there was something about it that made you look forward to the football a bit more. Makes McDiarmid feel completely flat before kick off!
Starting to find my enthusiasm back for the football the past few weeks - long may it continue. Yellow army!

My opinion on Liam Craig is divided - i think he gives us a bit of dig in midfield and certainly isn't afraid to get forward and support - which is the good thing. Then when he does get forward he is so utterly selfish at times it's unreal.

I'm divided too Hazel, I cannot decided whether he is poor or just average.

I believe the midfield has improved with Craig in it. Not without his faults but hopefully he can continue to improve.

Hamilton are about to collapse IMHO
everyone i have talked to all season have said hamilton are pish but they keep grinding them out, but they got pumped on a horrible surface at partick today the grass out my front is mank so their pitch one minute up the road can not be that much better with the rugby on it last night!

I thought the away support was very vocal and certainly outdid a crap home crowd-Number 1 mascot....POO.
Nice penalty by Birchill too.
saints fans are always a lot better away from home than at Mcd

Most exciting game of the season for me.Great atmosphere and great performance by the team.
McInnes has made a good start to his managerial career.Great sub when he brought on MacManus as we were clearly strrugling with the cross ball.
Starting to get just a little excited. There is life after Coyle.
