Right guys and gals, must be getting near that time of year again. Who do you think deserves a new contract? Right at this moment in time, I'm fairly happy with a fair majority of our team... just one or two tweaks I feel needed here and there.

As it stands I'd give new contracts to;

Cuthbert
Rutkiewicz
Stanic
Sheridan
Sheerin
Stevenson.

all six I feel very much deserve it for both consistency and commitment.

Still on the fence about the likes of Anderson... who I feel is good cover... but not good enough to be a regular starter.

Would definitely punt (based on form/lack of appearances)

Fotheringham
Campbell
McCann (although, don't think he's actually too bad)
Hannah (obvious one that)
Henry

So six to keep, 1 not sure about and 5 to punt... Can't think of anyone else who's contract will be up just now.

Thoughts people?

I'd like to see Campbell get another chance if we are out of title contention and think McCann can offer something.

I really don't see why saints fans seem to rate these players. Campbell looked like a total liability any time he played against any half-decent frontmen. In particular his performance against Airdrie in the 3-1 game was totally rank-rotten and he certainly wasn't rated by the Falkirk fans who saw him a lot more often than we have. We could certainly do better IMO.

As for McCann, he's no better than an average first division player. If we have serious ambitions of getting out of this league, we need players with more skill and ability to turn a game than him.

I'd definitely go with the guys mentioned for new contracts but I wouldn't rush into getting rid of McCann, i've always thought he can be quite dangerous if played through the middle.

Stevo.

Now there is a shock :***:

Fairly good list and would not argue with it too much.

Definatley go with the lads mentioned above, and think OC will probably agree. but wouldnt get rid of McCann untill a replacement has definatley came in.

I seem to be one of the few the really like McCann, I feel that he gives us something different in midfield and he will run up and down the pitch all day if OC requested (not like some we have). He should be given a new contract as there is still more to come from him.

Think he can bt he needs to recapture some of the form/passion that he had under JC - albeit he may have looked better in a poor team but he is a good player imo. Does his defensive duties well and can provide support and some good passes!

Can't argue too much with what has been said although I don't believe we will get another season out of Sheerin. I wouldn't offer him another contract.

Sorry but i cannot agree with that comment!! Sheerin has been one of most consistent performers this season, a massive improvement from his form last season. He has started to find the back of the net this season too which has helped his confidence which i feel is the only thing that has been lacking from his play.

Sorry Sam but in my opinion your talking pish! :***:

Agree with Kojak. Sheerin's one of my favourite players so I'm very biased but I feel he's more than earned a new contract.

I think I can see where you're coming from here though Sam... as a left winger he is fairly unorthodox/uncomfortable looking... but I certainly feel he deserves another year if he wants it :)

sheerin is better in the middle than out wide IMO. currently i would get rid of him, but if he gets a good run of games in the centre of midfield then i could change my mind if he does well

I think these posts just show how far we've fallen and how low our expectation levels are. The very thought of having Sheerin, Stevenson and McCann around next season is just depressing, let's just give in to Gretna already!

These guys weren't good enough to get us promoted last season and aren't good enough to get us promoted this season so how the hell are they going to be good enough next season?

i'd get rid of:

stevenson
fotheringham
anderson
henry
hannah
and possibly sheerin.

mccann and campbell have a lot to prove to be kept on IMO

Agree with pretty much all that you say Muzz.

Stevenson would be first out the door for me, dreadful, dreadful footballer, more interested in looking the part than actually trying to contribute! Waste of space!

Anderson - also horrific at times, i can accept to a certain extent, he was maybe played out of position for the vast majority of this season but that still doesn't detract away from the fact a professional footballer should be able to control a football, look around the pitch and simply pass a ball to somebody wearing the same colour of shirt!

Campbell see no need to keep this guy, okay he hasn't had time to prove himself but i personally feel from what i did see in those early season games that this guy is honking!! has no positional sense in the slightest, could turn an oil tanker quicker! has to go at the earliest opportunity.

I agree. I think peoples expectation and the level of quality they accept have fallen dramatically if they are desperate to keep Sheerin. He's not a bad player but he's not good enough to take us into the SPL, which is where we ultimately want to be.
