Don't care what Accies or Dundee do until 4.45 on Saturday - we've got enough to worry about with our own game.
I fancy us to win this but Stirling are a decent side and will work hard in defence. Having said that, they need to start notching up some wins so I don't think they'll be as defensive as in the past. Still up to us to go at them from the start and show some killer instinct.

What we really need is an early goal ( or two) against Albion. The difference then being that they need to come out and play and we have the type of set up that can take advantage of that. I,ll take any win but somebodys going to get a hiding soon. Team wise it looks like Moon is still struggling with a back problem, which is a shame, but we coped well enough last week without him so I,m not to worried.
I,d go with the same starting eleven as last week if they are all fit and well, but the subbies bench will have to change as Dyron I believe is suspended. Who is likley to replace him?????Who,s still out injured and for how long????????.As for what the others are doing, I totally agree with Temple.4.45pm is the time to think about them...After we have (hopefully) taken care of our business.....,MON THE SAINTEES

Strange game today I thought. In the first half we had tons and tons of possession and at times played some lovely football, but the sheer volume of red shirts kept us from adding to our lead.
Stirling didn't have a decent chance up until their goal which I seem to remember was their first shot on target?
Liam Craig had a great game today - he looked really up for it and was instrumental in our first goal. He drove through the midfield with the ball taking on defenders before slipping a nice through ball to Jackson. He lookde like he had taken it a little too wide of the goal before smashing a fantastic low drive across the keeper and in off the post.
Jackson had our other best chance of the half when he dug out a volley eight yards out that unfortunately was straight at the keeper.
Stirling equalised early in the second half. They got a free kick on the bye-line and it was cut back a man who had dropped off his defender. His shot went through a ruck of players and may have taken a slight touch before hit hit the net.
Our winner came from Mooner who drove through the centre of the park and instead of laying it off to Milne hit a left footed shot that the keeper could only touch into the net.
One note that isn't to do with the game - that steward at the top of the East Stand is a complete fanny. At one stage she told off a kid for "walking too fast" and told another one - no more than eight years old - to hurry up and find a seat. Then when we were pressing for a winner and all the news about Hamilton and Dundee being behind was coming through and everyone was singing and getting behind the team she was going mental at people to sit down. Eventually a chorus of "stand up just to piss her off" went up. If she had just kept her trap shut everyone would have sat down of their own accord much quicker!

What a great day at the fitba! Scotland's finest goal-machine at his very best (despite his Dundonian Barber), Mooner sticking two fingers up to Cameron (and Del) with the perfect response to our latest midfield capture, seven minutes of football hedonism at Dens, all accompnaied by the most passionate home fans all year. Jings, we even started to sign whilst the Reds were celebrating their equaliser. Great stuff.
The league will evade us, again, but a win at Dingwall might just see us back at Hampden. Great attendance today, especially with the lack of Bino's, so hats off to the board.
No complaints on a Saturday night?! Oh aye, apart from the Clyde missed penalty!
Enjoy tonight, Saintees.

Criminal bit of defending from Anderson that led to the goal when he tried to shepard the ball out on a heavy pitch instead of keeping things simple. Individual errors have cost us so badly in the past but thankfully Mooner's left peg saved our blushes as we didn't force Hogarth into nearly enough action throughout.
Points win prizes though and we're getting to the stage of the season again where performances are secondary. I still think it's a massive ask for us but the top two certainly don't like unbeatable. We'll still need to win the vast, vast majority of our remaining games though.

To win the league you have to win when your not at your best, and thats what we did today.Loads of good passing and movement in the middle of the park , but not much in the way of end product in the final 3rd of the pitch.
I really think Albion are a shit, spoiling team and I,m so pleased we dug that win out. Maybe they will do us some favours against Scumdee and Hamilton.
Full marks to Del for the changes he made, which won us the game.

think its all been said really dire game today the worst i have seen the pitch looking but that can not be helped with all the rain.
anderson should be disappointed for his error that gave them a goal and irvine did not seem to have a good one at all got skinned a lot by their winger.
as has been said though its the score that counts and thankfully we did it first time this season we have looked like beating them, would like to see a stat for the possession we had today.
Irvine seemed to be having trouble with something around his upper hip from what i saw from the main stand.
john hughes will have been happy with what he saw of craig from the stand.

Clyde losing a 2 goal lead spoiled the day a bit & this was a game that we would have drawn if Coyle was still here .
McInness has to take the credit for making the subs so early in the game.Moon & Davie made the difference because Cameron & Peaso were doing nothing. Another game when Peaso & Sheerin thought they would have a day off although Sheerin did get in position at right back to cover Irvine who was out of position so he can`t be accused of not trying.
We controlled the game in the first half but we should be able to kill of teams when we are on top.In another game Ando would have kicked the ball out for a throw rather than trying to let the ball run out but I think they thought the game was won & were fannying around.

Thought we totally dominated the game against a Stirling side that defended well (though Ellis was good for them). Jacko's goal was excellent but only rounded off a great run from Craig who was outstanding. As for the Mooner - even I thought he was set to pass for Savo when he let that shot rip.
Didn't think there was a weak link in the team - Stanic and Irvine took knocks and Ando was perhaps at fault for conceding the freekick for their goal (though the marking on Aitken at the freekick was very poor) but we knocked the ball about well and looked confident for most of the game.
Keep that up and we'll be fine for a good challenge.

Not so much complaining about Cameron as disappointed by Del. Cameron played very poorly on Saturday - but I admit I didn't see him against Dunfermline and you did.
Firstly, I have been very public in criticising 4-3-3 and I am intrugued to hear people saying we are left sided when we have Peaso on the left?!
For me, if we accept that Del is gonna stick 4-3-3; our three best midfield players are Moon, Peanut and Craig. If you play them, you have to play Moon on the right - no choice to make there. Peanut and Craig are similar in that neither are out and out wingers but are more comfortable on the left, so one goes left and one goes centre.
Cameron was chosen over Moon and came off for Moon. Peanut could have been sacrificed - given his age, Cameron should be the fitter of the two, we're talking raw fitness here not match sharpness. To me, if there was any doubt that Mooner would last 90 mins, start him and replace when expired with Cameron.
The whole thing provokes bigger questions, what is Cameron's role and what was the rationale behind his signing? It looks certain the Del will now stick 4-3-3 and Hardie is due back soonish. MMM could be played wide left but that still leaves Cameron as either a replacement for Moon (surely not?), Peanut (short-term?) or Craig (no contract on offer?).
Craig Levein spoke recently of how he almost signed Buchanan from Cowdenbeath last year but decided to wait and see how he played in Division One; perhaps he is doing the same with Moon and we are resigned to losing him and thus we're looking at Cameron as a replacement? But Millar is on his way so he would "replace" Moon. Further, from the way BB played against Montrose in the reserve clash (December?) he is a better option than Cameron, at least he is our player. A rough diamond, but a diamond never-the-less.
Bear in mind that Jacko started (and scored) against Raith only because of the injury to Big-Mac-Breen. I think Del's judgement is dubious, I do not think it is a personality clash.
One last story. A young player in our team spoke (very privately) of his dismay when OC signed a journeyman player who pushed the youngster further down the pecking order. He considered leaving Saints and became despondent with Club and Manager. Nobody at the club would be pleased to swap Lilley for Jacko nowadays.
I hope we don't lose Kevin Moon in the belief that Cameron is a better prospect. Mooner is a Saintee, Cameron is not. He deserves far better than he's been given thus far.

In what way has Derek McInnes treated Mooner unfairly?
He never started against Stirling as he hadn't trained... if he'd had started and went off early goosed, you'd have been complaining then too.
Cameron must be a decent player, he's an international, we have not seen the best of him, but after just seeing one game, you are already writing him off.

Was the ginge keeper a good player & how many under 19 internationals go on to be big time players so just because you play for Scotland at any level does not make you a good player.

Not at all. I'm a firm believer in starting talent over fitness. Mooner got about 30 mins and didn't look goosed at the final whistle
Cameron must be a decent player, he's an international, we have not seen the best of him, but after just seeing one game, you are already writing him off.
I said he was very poor in the one game I've seen. He may have talent, but we are not a Dundee United finishing school. To my mind we don't know the full potential of either Moon or Cameron, but Moon should get the nod because of his versatility and liklihood to remain a Saintee. Also, Jacko wasn't good enough for Scotland, so let's not read too much into U21 caps

Saintee as in contracted to Saints and a fan
I'm not anti-Cameron, just worried and concerned by Del's judgement. Cameron might well be a good player, even a great player, but he has proven nothing to the majoirty of Saints fans yet and I see no advantage in playing him over Mooner, who has shown all of us glimpses of talent which could help us to earn promotion next season. Even from the "board dinnae want promotion" point of view, why not sign/play Moon and cash in on him?

1 So a young inexperienced boy has missed out on one game when fit, in a period when Mcinnes is still trying things out... doesn't seem that unfair to me.
2 So if Mooner started, pulled up after 5 minutes, you would have nothing to say... aye right!! Then Cameron came on as his substitute and played as he did we'd have been stuck with him. No qualms from me on the way McInnes handled this... nobody can deny he won us that game, out first win v Stirling Albion this season!
3 One game... decision on him as a player... terrible attitude! McInnes has taken on another midfielder so that he doesn't need to play himself, fair play. If we did not sign a midfielder, we would be relying on Moon (injury prone) and Barr (untested) along with Sheerin and Craig. If Dyron Daal was a Saintee through and through should we have played him before Kenny Deuchar? No chance!
4 Yeah, if Coyle signed me in a moment of madness, then McInnes inherited me. I would be a massive Saintee and contracted and not many would put more effort than me... but at the end of the day, every professional footballer would be a better option than me!!
5 He has two games (one to you) yet you accuse him of not proving anything... Rocco Quinn took a few games to bed in! I'm sure that McInnes and the board are or will be signing up Mooner longer term.
You're getting very mature in your old age Kev, hard to argue with any of that...
Yer arse:wink:

1 So a young inexperienced boy has missed out on one game when fit, in a period when Mcinnes is still trying things out... doesn't seem that unfair to me.
He was universally MOM and then dropped!
Why not play him until he is pooped then sub him? We obviously disagree on this. My opinion is you don’t know how long a player will last, so start with him (if he’s talented enough for the first XI) and sub him when necessary.
3 One game... decision on him as a player... terrible attitude! I have stated that he played poorly in the game. I have not said he is a crap player. McInnes has taken on another midfielder so that he doesn't need to play himself, fair play. If we did not sign a midfielder, we would be relying on Moon (injury prone) and Barr (untested) along with Sheerin and Craig. and Hardie and McCluskey. If Dyron Daal was a Saintee through and through should we have played him before Kenny Deuchar? No chance! Aye, but for a few weeks we thought we had a realistic chance of landing Deuchar. Also, the league was a reality at the start of Docs loan.

We are discussing one of our best players being dropped for DUFC trainee. Not a crap fringe player being replaced by a huge talent.
5 He has two games (one to you) yet you accuse him of not proving anything... Rocco Quinn took a few games to bed in! I'm sure that McInnes and the board are or will be signing up Mooner longer term.
Mooner has proved enough to stay in the first XI. What has Del seen in Cameron (in training or whilst at Tanndump) to think he is CURRENTLY better than wee Kev? Had he been brought in to replace Peanut/been a likely long-term Saintee, I’d be happy enough; but I don’t see that happening.
Mooner’s contract extension should have been finalised/announced before now. I don’t think we have a former who doesn’t think he’s worthy of new contract and we will face an ever-increasing battle to retain him if we are fighting for the title next year.
In summary; Mooner is good with great potential, Cameron may be good and may have great potential. Mooner, I believe, wants to remain a Saint for the next wee while; Cameron, I believe, wants to remain a DUFC player. Mooner should start ahead of any other midfielder on our books on present form.
