Amongst all the other excitement, has anyone else noticed that the official site says David Hannah has signed the papers releasing him from his contract today...?
Or am I several hours too late with this?? :***:

The Davester was a prince among men and has been harshly treated by the club and it's fans. I for one wish The Davenator well and I hope he makes a return to as manager sometime in the future.

I have to say I missed the bit where Hannah went from demi-god last season to pariah this season. Was there a particular event that prompted his exclusion from the team or did OC just not rate him (and tell him as much)?

Whilst not too sorry to see him go,there were a lot of poorer performers than Hannah,he looked like he cared at least when some around him hid!

All the best to The Davester - had a great season for us last year and I personally still think he could be doing a job for us at the moment. Hope he finds himself a club soon.
He's blue, he's yellow, he looks like Marti Pellow.

Thought he was capable as a player, but a knobber also, so best to let him go. Heard too many stories from reliable sources to believe otherwise.

The Davester has been handed a trial with Bury. Good luck to him.

wahey
In the paper today saying that he has turned down an offer by Bury as it was not enough for him and his family to move down south. The manager is speaking to his chairman to try and up the offer if unsuccesfull he wants to try and get a team in Scotland.
I personally hope he gets it sorted as he was one of our strongest players last season. All the best Davester.

He seems to have had a change of heart and has now signed for Bury!
According to their official site, he's agreed a month-to-month arrangement.

He has signed until the end of the season with an option of a further 12 months, including hotel accommodation!!!

Won't bother me, I have no reason to dislike Bury and I indeed hope they get out of the relegation predicament they are in, especially as I have a game as them on Champy (without the Davester it must be said!!!)

does that put him in limbo with regards to playing for the rest of the season, or could he still sign for a club up here?

Bury will have withdrawn his resgistration so he should be able to sign for another club. I think :?

I'm not so sure. If a player was released before the window closed then (up here I mean) then he could sign for a team after the window shuts (e.g Jon Voigt was released on deadline day, and signed for Arbroath last night).
But if he was signed up with a club when the window shut then he wouldn't be able to move.
What I'm not sure about is whether the same applies to cross border movement.. :?:
Daft Bloody System Anyway

He may be able to as at the time of the transfer window closing, he was not registered with any Club. Normally if you are released outside the window then you can't sign for anyone else.

But was he not registered with Bury - he played in a 1-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers IIRC.
If thats the case then he would have to stay in England as he cannot be transferred internationally until the summer, however the English lower leagues can still sign players until March (not sure if that is restricted to loans or transfers as the Baggies put a couple of players out on loan last week).

BUT he was nort registered with Bury at the end of the transfer window, he was a free agent. The fact that he signed for Bury in the first place surely disproves your theory that cross border transfers can't take place after the window :?
