Songs for players got me thinking, and then walking to work this morning, I heard a player mentioned and so, born is a new topic...

What tunes mention Saints players, past and present?

As I previously mentioned... The bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band sung, "Can blue Men sing the whites?". That's a current player.

The Lightening Seeds sung a song about running sideways, passing back and rediculous hair-plugs... they called it "The life of Reilly". Past Player!

The song that made me think of this, this morning was The Stranglers singing Golden Brown is which I'm sure they sing "Lays me down with my mind Sheerin!"

Over to you...

Very good play on the actual words of "Lays me down with my mind she runs" - pity I can't think of any others at the moment. :(

In Pop Will Eat Itself's most popular track, Can U Dig It?, they are quite clearly heard telling fans "Alan Moore, knows the score!"

The Clash sold a record in honour of our own Tommy Lovenkrands entitled Tommy gun.

A bit more obscure - a band called Tabache had a tune called Castle Grant. Very moving it is too - it hits the spot!!

England rugby fans often sing about ace left-back Tait during Sweet Chariot "I looked over Jordan, and what did I see."

The Irish love singing about our ex-racist, Eddie... "Sweet Mollie Malone"

Oh how we wish he did... "I'm Lovering on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again!"

At weddings all over the country, proverbial under-acheiver, John paul can be heard... "Here come's McBride."

Scousers love singing about ex-Saintee, Mark... "Ferry, cross the Mersey."

The Proclaimers sung about Charlie, now star of Brechin... "King of the road!"

Swedish dance/pop troubadours, Ace Of Base penned a tribute to star striker of old, Henry... "Hall that she wants."

Little in kids in Sunday School, the length and breadth of the country loved, mad-haired central defender, Benito... "Kemble Yah, Ma Lord!"

Showing the Scandinavians love their Saints, Roxette showed their appreciation of Phil or Phizzy... "She's Scott the look."

See you all next week
