Where will the points come from to enable us to bag the league. FWIW i think it will go this way.
Sat 11 Feb 06 Saints V St Mirren 3pts
Sat 18 Feb 06 Hamilton Accies V Saints 1pt
Sat 4 Mar 06 Saints V Airdrie Utd 3pts
Sat 11 Mar 06 Ross County V Saints 0pts
Sat 18 Mar 05 Dundee V Saints 1pt
Sat 25 Mar 06 Saints V Clyde 3pts
Sat 1 Apr 06 Saints V Stranraer 3 pts
Sat 8 Apr 06 Brechin City V Saints 3pts
Sat 15 Apr 06 Q.O.S V Saints 1pt
Sat 22 Apr 06 Saints V Hamilton Accies 3 pts
Sat 29 Apr 06 St Mirren V Saints 1pt
Will it be enough a further 22pts giving us 66pts meaning the Midden require 67 only 16 points from 33 its a struggle i think..

Its gonna be tough - no doubt about it. The big games are obv St Midden twice but also County and Dundee away where we normally struggle. I'll go for 23 points. Still wont be enough IMHO.

completely agree with above posts. As i have been saying for the last 3 weeks, i believe we have left it too late. Get a good run together, playing a solid team, keeping clean sheets, will give us a very good base for next season. Similar to what the midden did last season, and look where they are now. I would be delighted for the boys to prove me wrong. But doing this, and depending on Gretscum's tranfer activity, we will have a very good chance next season.
it all depends on this saturday. a must win for us. if we win, will st mirrens bottle crash? will our confidence be so high, so good we can do to places like ross co, dundee etc and win? win this and anything could happen. its time to separate the men from the boys

mr sheep's predictions look ok, doubt we will go all the way to may unbeaten but you never know, a win on saturday will get the tails up and if ross county can stay in touch there is every chance st mirren's bottle will crash near the end. kev mcgowne and andy millen are surely losing half a yard by this point of the season and i reckon ross co will drop a few silly points along the way. Should be a few tasty matches coming up. Trips to Dens and Love Street looking particularly good at the moment :D

Even with a clean sweep in the last section we can only amass 77 points. This total has been enough to win the league on previous occasions but it is a huge ask of a team who are not the finished article. It will depend a lot on how the performance on saturday goes with the new faces included and how much improvement we gain from that. We really need to get goals from the midfield as we seem to be short up front with the OC injury and Peaso and Savo not fit personally i think a total of 72 pts will be good enough as it is going to be tight between at least 3 teams which may play into our favour as if you look back the history of the league the more teams in contention the lower the points total required so i dont think we would want Ross County to fall out the race and perhaps if Hamilton can hang in there a four horse race would lower the points requirment even furtherto maybe around 68 if so that is a target that can be achievedallowing us to drop silly draw points but defeats would be hard to recover from.

No offence Broggie Man, but you might want to throw in a comma or a full stop somewhere. I'm out of breath just reading that! :***:
I agree with what you're saying though. The fact that the league's between more teams than just us and the midden is certainly a benefit to us, and a lot depends on how the new signings gel, as well as how quickly Savo and Peaso come back from their injuries.

I'd be more confident with 3 points in Dingwall than at home to Airdrie - Airdrie are our bogey team!

We shouldn't concentrate on other teams anyway, we should focus only on the results of St Johnstone. If we win every game, we'll win the league, no matter what any other team does.
Unless St Mirren win all their games  Even if we beat them twice, they still need to drop more points. When was the last time St Johnstone won 11 games in a row anyway?

I have looked at this in a different way,
If you look at the first half of the season (I am including the QOS game in December in the second half and St Mirren game in the first half of the season) St Mirren picked up 10 more points than us.
In the second half of the season we have been very consistent. Our results have almost been identical to the first half of the season and we have only gained points at Stranrear where we drew in September, however we have not lost any game we won in the first half including winning at Clyde again, Thus if we kept this going we would end up on 62 points , That would include losing to Ross County and Dundee again
St Mirren are however 4 points worse off than in the first half. In their remaining games they collected 7 wins and 4 draws in the first half fixtures. I cannot see them doing that again and whilst they may beat Stranrear (it was 0-0 in August) will they win on Saturday, away to Ross County or Clyde.
I still think St Mirren will win the league but a Perth saints win on Saturday would put a major doubt in their minds
Hope the above makes sense to someone :***:

All I want is a win on saturday, from there who knows.
All the fans seem up for this, lets hope the players respond in kind.
It's one thing to ask the fans to be up and back the team, its up to the team to respond on the field.
A win and its 4 wins on the trot and it gives us the platform to build on for the remainder of the season.

A win tomorrow takes us 4pts behind St Mirren. In the intervening matches Saints only require to gain 1 point on St Mirren leaving us in position to win the league at Love St.
Superior goal difference is worth an extra point at the end of the season :)
