I heard all the Soap Dodgers on the Radio tonight when I was driving back from Inverness, Radio 1 were at the student union bar.
You could hear the russle of Shellsuits in the background. Must have been nearly 80 of them toetapping their slip on shoes.
Looks like it will be a good day of trading for the pickpockets and drug dealers.
Who are they getting??? Jimmy Shand, Danny Wilson, Ricky Ross all compered by George Galloway.

Should be a good weekend, judging by the last couple that have been on - have they said anything about one being a dance day and one being a bands day like last year???
I may have to register and get mysel some tickets!!!

I may be interested in this if there are any decent bands on. Any word on who might be appearing?

Nobody confirmed but you would expect the likes of Madonna (wooohoooo!) and Arctic Monkeys etc...
I have registered - bring it on baby!!!

They know who is on but they just wont say *** They kept mentioning oasis but i hope not. A few bands releasing new stuff soon... embrace (they are in dundee in april too), placebo and a few others. They got the foo fighters last year so just shows you how big the bands they can get are.
Just hope they keep the tickets locally to start. Im worried people from from engerland etc are gonna come along and poach them. We never get stuff like this.
Looking forward to it tho! Rock on!

Got this e-mail from Radio 1 regarding One Big Weekend:
Hello from all of us at Radio 1.
We've been very busy setting up Radio 1's Big Weekend.
We've confirmed most of the artists and the line-up is
looking very good. We cannot tell you who they are yet
but expect some big stars from the UK and America as well
as cool new bands.
Everyone we talk to in Dundee is very excited about the
weekend. As well as taking over Camperdown Park we've
got plans a big dance night in the city itself. In the
run up the weekend Colin and Edith are going to tour
around Scotland too.
Make sure you are listening to Radio 1 on Monday 24
April when we will announce the line up and give you
more information about how to get tickets.
Do you live in Dundee or have you been there? We want
to hear from you. We want loads of info, recommendations,
photos and video of Dundee on our website. If you have
a blog and youÂ’ve wrote about Dundee send us a link. If
you'd taken photos and they are online send us the link
them or upload them to Flickr and add them to our group
(http://www.flickr.com/groups/radio1bigweekend/).
What weÂ’d really like is short videos introducing us to
Dundee. If you can film your favourite place or thing
about Dundee send it in. You can upload them to a website
and send the URL or email us the video.
We are also looking for really good photographers and
music writers to come to Radio 1Â’s Big Weekend and cover
the event in their own way. If you are interested and
write a blog send us a link. If you have a photographer
and have photos online send us a link too.
Email all your links and details to radio1.bigweekend@bbc.co.uk.
I'm sure all you Dundee 'lovers' out there will be able to come up with some good stuff for what's in bold, portraying the 'real' city of jute, jam and insolvent football clubs  :***:

The locals in tinkytown probably think they are referring to a toilet so no doubt someone will respond to them saying that they are the only house in the street with an indoor one :***: :***:
draw for the tickets starts tomorrow. some good bands going that i wouldnt mind seeing.

must say I'm a bit disappointed in the line up. An awful lot of "Blands" appearing, especially Snow Patrol and Keane. Wouldn't mind seeing the Editors, Bloc Party and Hot Chip, but not sure it's worth the effort for just those three. Those who you who have been to this sort of event before, roughly how long a set does each band play?
wouldnt mind seeing DIRTY PRETTY THINGS, THE STREETS AND RAZORLIGHT. i'm sure most only get to play only 4 or 5 tunes each and the headliners get a few more. could be wrong.

Don't think that'll work my friend. Did you use 10 different addresses?
If not it says here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bigweekend06/tickets/drawfaqs.shtml) that they have a method of filtering out multiple entries.
Jenni

I hope they dont do that. Theres 4 of us at my address and we all want to go, so we all need to apply. Maybe they'll just filter the names?

I'd guess they'd probably have a way of matching names to the electoral roll or something, so you should be ok.

just like to say that royal mail do an excellent job, you pay first class (pennies) and the letter is delivered the following day - great service and value for money...
anyway - I'm looking for 2 Saturday tickets.... any spares?
Ive got 2 Sunday tickets that can be swapped?
would also consider swaping 1 of my Sunday tickets for 1 Saturday ticket..
long shot I know... but looking to see Primal Scream... already planning them for TIP but this weekend would be good.
ok... you i take back the comment on scumdee posties...

Just back from this. Quality day out. The Fratellis, Dirty Pretty Things, Bloc Party and Primal Scream were the highlights. Bloc Party & P Scream were particularly jumping.
Saw about 30 dundee jakeys jumping the fence about 4ish. Funny sight but i saw three of them scrapping and getting chucked out about ten minutes later!!
Seems like I missed a quality day of football tho!

Was at this yesterday, excellent day out. :***:
The Fratellis were fantastic, as were Boy Kill Boy. Razorlight were their usual high standard, got the crowd going. Dirty Pretty Things were awesome, loved their performance. Bloc Party were tremendous also. Caught the end of Muse, not really my cup of tea really so wasn't fussed about them, also caught the end of The Streets set which was quite enjoyable, crowd went mental for 'fit but you know it' :D
not really a fan of Primal Scream to be honest but watched the first 20 minutes or so of their set, thought they were excellent. Snow Patrol closed the event with a fantastic performance on the Main Stage. The new songs from the new album all went down a treat aswell as their old classics, was slightly surprised to see they didn't choose to close with 'Run' though. :?
All in all an excellent day out, even more enjoyable when you consider it was completely FREE. :***: :***:

Had a brilliant day too. Pity I can't get tickets for today. :(
Streets I thought were poor but Snow Patrol lifted the roof off the tent.
With all the rubbish strewn outside you knew it was Dundee.

A great Saturay in the broken sunshine.
Great layout, and looking forward to T in the Park more than ever now.
Primal Scream and Bloc Party were highlights for me, excellent end to the day.
Primal Scream headlining T in the Park, already booked my spot.
Corine Bailey Rae, Gnarls Barkley, Orson, Razorlight and Muse other bands managed to see.
First time seeing some of them, live music buzz is great!
So glad I managed to swap my Sunday tickets for Saturday. However another great day Sunday, who were your highlights of a great free weekend.... well bar the cost of the pints of carlsberg... tasting good :)

Not long back from the sunday gigs. I was at both days and sunday was even better than the saturday. The editors were fantastic.. then we were suprised with franz ferdinand, who were amazing too. Keane were great to see too. Not forgetting The View.. a wee band from 'drehburuh' in dundee and they were brilliant. The bassist is off his head!!
Great weekend :D

I got to both days thanks to Bear's raffle coming up trumps... shattered now, but will provide an update later on the gig guide... but I agree that Sunday was a better day, but Saturday had more highlights.
