Remember being at the match huge crowd..... too wee to see anything. Also remember my dad falling on top of me when broggy slid the 3rd in. Featured match on Scotsport on the Sunday. Very unusual for Saints in those days!

I was bubbling
Got pelted with stones when Saints went ahead, lots fighting in the Saints end too.
17,000 crowd.
It is all on dvd.
Still cannot believe Tulloch came for the ball, every time I watch it I shout for him to stay on his line. 20 seconds from the whistle.
Great shot when the Saints players are all celebrating the goal in a huddle and John MacKay tries to jump on top, the huddle moves and he lands on his head.

Despite the disappointment at the very end, it was a truly fantastic day. Muirton filled to the rafters. I was in the south stand with a mate and his dad, I was only about 8 I think and we were sitting just behind some tv equipment, which for an 8 year oild is just as exciting as the footy. I was gutted when I wasn't allowed to go the replay. I've never forgiven my parents for that, bastards. I particulalry remember the great change strip we were wearing, white with a sort of blue/grey umbro stripe I think. wee john, I'd love a copy of the dvd, how does one get hold of a copy?

Despite people saying Muirton was packed, there was 17k there and still loads of room at the saints end.
I reckon we could easily have got another 3-4k in.

IIRC it was 17500 all ticket match ,thanks to the police .as Saints had wanted a 20000 capacity

yeah, it's all relative though. I think we opened that season against Stirling Albion and there were about 500 folk there. No doubt someone will have the exact attendance. It was certainly, up to that point the biggest crowd I had seen at a game.
Great days.

Amazing to think that only about 8 years later the capacity was brought down to 2500.
Same ground and same facilities.

Sums up what being a football supporter is all about, the sheer exctasy when THE GREAT JOHN BROGAN slid in the third goal then the total devastation when.. well you all no the outcome.I admit I was greetin at the end.It is maybe just the years dimming my memory but I remember Pelosi nutmeging Derek Johnstone with a backheel and running round him(no mean feat in itself) and setting up an attack.Nobody I have spoken to remembers it.

My first "Big game" and we almost won (A sign of what was to come for the next 25 years)
Stood behind the goal Redford got the equiliser in with my Dad
Like "Jimmy Wallace" my Dad would not take me to the reply and I wanted to go but I was only 8 so I guess he was correct

It was my birthday the day before and a few of us were up the house after the boozer and just started off the next day where we finished the night before - like Wee John every time I see that cross I'm begging wee George to stay on his line but he never does :( ..the ball just trickled in  I remember being in the Back Bar of the Windsor that night and having a great auld Saintees sing song.
At the replay I reckon we had a good support but we were all over the place as I don't think there was even real segregation in those days. It throws up the great trivia Question though..
Q. Who did Ally McCoist score his 1st goal at Ibrox against ?
A. Rangers !

The thing that pissed me off most, was, the Huns had already had a goal chalked off ,and i thought, they canny score again! Also remember getting pelted fae the Huns when we were in front. You must have been goading the f***kers tae Wee John!!

It was just about one of the great cup shocks of all time. Normally the old firm can hold a two goal lead against a team from a division below them. McCoist was brilliant against his future employers, Brogan, Pelosi, Morton too. Three goals of a fight back to take the lead and then the fighting on the terraces started. :***: They can take a defeat eh ... wankers. When they equalised after that mistake from Tulloch, some of their fans who were having a go at us just before that then held out their hands to offer a handshake. NO WAY !!!
I thought when they took the lead they didn't look that great at all. Disappointing start, ecstatic middle and horrific end to an eventful cup tie. Robbed. It's amazing how we still think of it as a defeat.

I went to this game with my dad. For some reason best known to him we were in the Rangers end, which was great as the fightback started. I also think we should have had a 4th in the the last few minutes. Brogan was wrongly(?) given ofside when he was through on goal.
The Perth Rangers fans around us were congratulating us before the equasliser. I must admit I never saw any trouble from where we were stood!
:?
I know if Tulloch had stayed on his line it would have been saved but I think the defence panicked when the ball came and three of them went for it.
Isaw it again on TV next day with some African students I knew. they thought Saints were great. They were also impressed I was there :o Didn't get to the replay though. Just as well it was terrible watching the highlights on TV!
