Just spotted a wee article in the Sunday Post saying that Savo's comeback has been hit after he had a recurrence of his problem while out walking his dog!!!

It said in the Sunday Express - if I remember it properly - that he thought he would be out for 2 weeks, then would need another 2 weeks training before he was ready to get back into the squad.

A bigger emphasis now goes on Dobbie recapturing his form now i think.

Its not a major blow at the moment i don't think, having brought in Hardie who puts in enough work to replace Savo, still would like Savo in the squad for atleast the last few games of 'the chase'

We are missing his workrate and his tracking back - meaning more pressure on the midfield to work up and down the park (which they have done well).

And hopefully the Dobster will get his chance to maintain the level of performance he produced against Hamilton against Airdrie! :D

Thought we would miss him at first but OC played - and got the best out of Jason, then MacDonald was back, then Dobbie stepped in and we've still gone unbeaten in the league in 2006! :)

I don't actually think we're missing him at all - the midfield have looked much better without him there trying to do their job, as it's made them work harder and cover more ground. We're also much stronger in attack when we have two players who stay up front instead of spending so much of the game tracking back. I'd have to say that, at the moment, I think we look a better, more effective and dangerous team without him. I think results sort of back that up as well.

Sorry BH i dont mean to be getting on your case but the fact that you have stated that Milne was constantly tracking back covering the midfield may go some way to explaing the dip in goal scoring form so perhaps with a fit Milne we may be even stronger..

After his initial burst of goals, Milne wasn't particularly prolific. I agree that it's because of his constant tracking back that he wasn't scoring very often, but will that change once he's fit and back in the team? Surely if he comes back fit he'll still spend all his time back in defence/midfield, unless he's specifically instructed not to. I've nothing against the guy, but I just think we've looked a stronger, more fluent and more dangerous team since he's been missing. The midfield has proven that they don't need him back helping them out all the time - in fact, in my opinion they've proven that they actually function better without him. Just before he became injured I was arguing that he should have been dropped for a while anyway, so I don't think his enforced absence has made us any weaker.

We have said this about Jason also. If a player has an energy level and expends a percentage of that energy level covering his midfield then we would not get the potencial from him. I also said i didnt want Jason covering i wanted to see him play and i agree with you that the midfield is now stronger but we dont have the woryy factor on defences now because Milne was a pest on the field he never gave up and I for one think that is what we lack at the moment. Coyle didnt have the legs Hardie was out of position and Dobbie doesnt play that way. Often when a game is balnced at 1-1 or 0-0 it is a mistake that wins it which is more likely when you are puting pressure on the other teams defence. I just think it is an option at the moment we lack. also i would point out we also lack the hieght option unless we go with Hardie up front until the return of Peaso who wins his fair share in the air..
