Is it just me or does he talk the most shite you've ever heard? In my opinion he ruins a perfectly watchable programme (Offside that is!) with his ramblings.

Also, special mention for that Julian guy on Scotsport SPL - his pish when he is introducing the games at the start of the programme is ridiculous.

Agree Jamie, Watson has goen down hill faster than an olympic skier! He used to be a wee bit funny on the radio but his pal Tam Coward decided that he should join him on tv, probably to make his jokes seem funny :?

Not sure what Cossy will make of this thread but he is lucky that he escaped :***:

to be fair, Johnny Watson only performs the stuff, he doesn't write it. He is an actor, not a comedian. I still think Watson's Wind-up on radio has some brilliant moments, especially the piss take of Cathy Jamieson.

I used to like him alot but now I just think he his doing the same old stuff that we have been hearing for years. Chick Young, Dennis Law, and Alex Ferguson saying proud very proud etc. There are a few others that we hear all the time but i cant remember them at the moment. If he was to do some new stuff i think he could be a hit again. I heard him doing Tony Mowbray and Jimmy Calderwood and they were pretty funny but he needs some new material very soon or he will just sink even lower.

I did however think the one off show of Frank McAvenie was class, think it was called Macca. He should do a series of that and i would definetly watch it.

.

Couldn't agree more, I found an old tape of only an excuse NYE 1996 and he is still doing the same impressions now... him and Alistair mcgowan, bag o shite.

After Watson's previous performances I switched over to ITV for Scotsport SPL as soon as he came on. Bit disappointed I did now!

I'm 37.

I know i nearly did the same, glad i didnt, he was going on about the saintees, rounding off all these names describing how good they where and then how bad Dundee where, the coagies was amongst it :***:

His material was much better tonite

I don't rate Watson at all. IMO Only an excuse has never been as good since Tony Roper gave up a few years ago. The programme should've remained as a radio show and been able to bring in guest actors like Ford Kiernan, from Chewing The Fat, who used to do some impressions on Stuart & Tam's show on Radio Scotland a few years ago

He's awful since he joined Offside - one or two funny impressions but some are just truly awful - Roy Keane one especially!
