Its shaping up to be a big game. Whether it be a title party, a chance to win the league or just another derby game its going to be big and we need to take a big support!
There was a fair bit of enthusiasm on Sat to hire a bus to take the Edinburgh Saints up to Dundee for this one, similar to the challenge cup final. Hopefully manage a stop off on the way for a few pints. What would be the chances of getting the same as last time Tractor Boy?
I have a quote from a coach company for a 16 seater (which im sure we would fill easy, but anyway....) which is 240 quid (15 pounds each) or we could get a 33 seater which would be 325 pounds (roughly 10 quid each, assuming we fill it).
Who would be interested? (for arguments sake, lets assume the match isnt all ticket at this stage).
Would be good to get an idea of numbers asap so we can get something booked up soon.
geoff was right!!

Gosh, it sounds like it's gonna be good.
Alas, I have a previous appointment that day so I'm not going to make this one :-(
Hopefully we can win it there so I can enjoy the trip to Perth the following week with my Morton supporting pal.

what about any potential pick ups in fife or something?
always a possibility if we're short of numbers.
Its looking like the 16 seater will be too small so the 33 would be the way forward. Even if we were to only get 20 odd folk, it would still only be 15 quid each. Anyone have a problem with this?

So far we have 20 confirmed for the bus (me, the livi massive (both of them ), tractor boy, davie (x2), andy (x5), kenny, baldy one, Thomas, Ryan (x2), Dougie, Roy, Nold and Nelly.
As i can see there are several possibles too that havent replied yet or dont know for a week or so whether they can go. (nellys better half? gav and harry? dougies +1? thomas' brother? emma? sutton? ormond boy? st jason? biffer? anyone else?!?!).
Given the number of possibles going from Edinburgh i think that its best that we hold off for a week or so before deciding about doing Perth pick ups.
in process of trying to sort out a stop off point for refreshment but suggestions and help greatly appreciated!! dont be shy!
will confirm the departure time of the bus in next day or so but i reckon it'll just leave from York Place like last time.

 you wont be alone mate! Ill find out and let you know!
I have managed to arrange a refreshment stop for the bus. We will be stopping at the Village Inn in Bridge of Earn (pretty much half way for us!). They have a pool table, few TVs which will be showing the footy, are kid friendly and will be putting a spread on for us (sausage rolls and the likes). Probably try leave there about 1ish to be in Dundee for 2 (after the last couple of times its probably worth getting to the ground a little early to avoid the mammoth queues at the one turnstile that they will be operating!)

Spoke to the siants ticket office this morning and they understand at the moment that its just going to be cash at the gate and that Dundee will give us "most of the ground". Certainly enough for 5000. Therefore we should be able to sit together. Definately get there early if thats the case!
I did ask that if it was to go to all ticket what the chances of us all sitting together were and she said that they wouldnt know until they found out the ticket allocation.
Heres hoping for cash at the gate

Right then, we have 33 folk confirmed for the bus (me, tractor boy, tractor boy senior, Davie (+1), Crieffsaintandy (+4), Nelly (+4), Geoff was right (+3), Ryan (+2), Nold, Marc, Kenny, Ormond boy, Roy, st Jason, saintDougie, McMerrySaint (+1) and Thomas (+1)). Off the 33 i think we have 3 kids (2 from crieffsaint andy and 1 from McMerry saint - is this right??). The plan is to charge the kids £5 each for the bus which means the adults (and big kids) will need to pay £10.33 to cover the costs. Since i wont be carrying a bag of 2p coins can i suggest rounding this up to £10.50 and either putting the change towards "refreshments" or just give the driver a wee tip to get us out of Dundee in one piece after we have (hopefully) won the league with celebratory drinks on board? Whats the thoughts on this?
At the moment we have 2 reserves incase of any dropouts (a tractorboy +1 and a davie +1). If we were to find another 12-14 reserves it would be worth while getting an additional 16 seater bus. This would obviously change the costs but may be something to consider. Would need to find out about this soon though.
The plan is to leave York Place (outside Connan Doyle pub) at 10.30am sharp. This means we can get to the Village Inn at Bridge of Earn for 11.30 and have an hour and a half there before heading onto Dundee. Hopefully get to Dense for 2 ish to give everyone plenty of time to get in the stadium. As i mentioned above the pub is kid friendly and has a pool table, tvs etc and putting on a free spread of food for us.
After the match its straight back to Edinburgh (Mathers) via a drop off at Boxden.

Anyone ken if the coach we've got has a pisser on board? I piss like a race horse when i'm drinking!:?
spoke to the bus company tonight and there is no toilet on the 33 seater. Looks like empty coke bottles then!
However, they were saying that they have 4 jobs for the 33 seaters booked for the 25th but only 2 x 33 seater buses. Therefore 2 groups will get a 49 seater instead, which does have a toilet on board.
I asked if we could get a 49 seater (for the same price) and will know on Thurs evening. Basically it all depends on which 2 trips are most economic with the fuel. Obviously if we get the bigger bus there is a chance for us to take more folk so will keep you posted. If this happens we have tractor boy, davie and dougie already in the queue for an extra seat each.
They also said on the phone that there was strictly no drinking (i didnt ask) on the way into Dundee as the police search all the buses (often when we get off). Shouldnt be a problem if you want to drink to BoE or on the way back (I asked about that!) provided we put the booze in the hold on the way into Dundee. The driver might say different right enough. cunningly disguised rum in bottles of coke anyone

havr you thought about going straight to Dundee before the game? I can offer the use of Downfield social Club, which can take a few coaches. Beer is just over £2 a pint and it has pool tables and a snooker table.
You could also use the lounge if there was enough of you and use the cd player to start a party

Good suggestion although it would be a bit unfair on the village Inn, in Bridge of Earn if we were to turn round and cancel at this point. They'll be expecting an nice wee cash injection from the 30 odd of us turing up for an hour and a half. Plus theres free scran:razz:

Thanks for the offer mate, but we have somewhere booked for this time round. Some folk will struggle to make it to Dundee without a beer (no names!) for this match hence the half way house at Bridge of Earn. Maybe consider it for next season though when we come back to play United?!

Should hopefully find out over the weekend what size bus we're getting. Hoping for the larger one (especially since there is a toilet on board!) and if this is the case then theres no problem. However, if it remains the 33 seater then im afraid your 4th reserve!
No worries, I'll just get the train otherwise.

Thanks for the offer mate, but we have somewhere booked for this time round. Some folk will struggle to make it to Dundee without a beer (no names!) for this match hence the half way house at Bridge of Earn. Maybe consider it for next season though when we come back to play United?!
At least I have a clear conscience and know that it's not me that you're talking about

Dinnae panic! It'll be fine, you should get a ticket and im sure if we sell the allocation then they'll give us some more! maybe!
Mary is heading up to McD first thing tomorrow to pick up a few tickets. what i have suggested is that she tell them while she is there that we have 33 booked on a bus and see whether they can block off 33 seats for us. since there is no way that Mary can pay for all of them, maybe we ask whether we be given until wednesday for the edinburgh saints to phone in and pay and those tickets that arent sold just go on general sale on the Thurs. Especially as picking them up from McD isnt really an option for most folk. Not sure if this will work or not but worth a try!
I cant call the club tomorrow as im back at work, plus it will take a couple of hours to get through. PM me your mob Craig and ill drop you a text/ call when i hear tomorrow what they say.

For those getting tickets on the phone or in person, if you mention that you're on the Edinburgh bus, they will do their best to seat us all together but there are no promises!

Thanks, just phoned and my tickets are being sent out to me K24/25, which is apparently where they are saving a block for us. I also have a second season ticket and am able to get another two tickets for the game if anyone is having problems. First to PM me will secure them.

Apparently they have reserved 33 seats for us, 12 of which are away already (im assuming saint o leith x6, tractor boy x4 and mcmerry saint x2). Geoff was right was saying that as long as your booked on the bus, they werent too worried about the season ticket issue.
Thomas_sjfc
20-04-2009, 03:40 PM
Mon the saints!!
It is now just me coming on the bus mysef. There is no plus one with me now.

Prices will be as i mentioned before. Departure from Mathers on Broughton Street at 10.30 sharp. (take note Marc - 10.30 sharp! we all know what state your usually in after your end of month friday night poker session!)
