Due to the insistence of Hazel that the Dobster is cuddly rather than a couple of fish suppers over his ideal playing weight, I feel that it was time for the fans to have their say.

Needless to say after a week Hazel will have to change her signature to reflect reality. C'mon Saintees let's be avin ya!!!!!!

Is this a comparison thing

Compared with quite a few of us on here he is definitely a 'lean, mean fighting machine', but compared with OC he is a 'double barrel of lard'. :***:

Seeing him play, he is a fat, slow tub of goo.
I used to think he needed a break, now I realise he needs a break FROM EATING!!

Not that there is anything wrong with being a couple of haddock suppers above the ideal fighting weight  , for a pro footballer to be like Dobbie, having "been worked really hard by Coyle in training every day" (quote Hazel last week), questions need be asked.

However, he would still have done a better job than Coyle on Saturday!!!

"been worked really hard by Coyle in training every day" (quote Hazel last week)

When did i say that?

I said about the fact he was made to run home from Kilgraston...then mentioned that Coyle was giving him some unfair criticism on thepitch at Gayfield. That is all.

Chopper that is a good point although i assume he was injured. Coyle was shocking on saturday looked well off the pace and his constant moaning almost reulted in me offering him the seat behind me in the east stand. From what i saw i would have had doris on from the start but back to the Dobbie thing i would persevere with him he is a good player his touch for some reason has deserted him but i think he needs a run in the team without the moaners berating him every time he comes off second best in a challange and for gods sake stop punting high balls at him...

To be honest I'm not even that sure it's Dobbie's weight/fitness that's the problem. Let's face it, he wasn't exactly svelte when he was playing well for us at the end of last season or at the beginning of this one. I think it's his confidence that's low, for whatever reason, and it's badly affecting his form. I think this is shown by the fact that, when he was flying high one of his trademarks used to be his willingness to shoot from anywhere. His long-rangers always looked dangerous and added a different dimension to our game. In his last few appearances, he's been in positions where the previous Dobbie would have had a shot, but he's passed the ball on instead. When a striker starts looking reluctant to have a shot at goal I don't think it's fitness that's at the root of the problem. If Coyle's constantly having a go at him about his weight, could this be denting his confidence?

Not heard anything about Kilgraston but I know that pre/at the start of the season Coyle would run back to McDiarmid with Dobbie after morning training at the Inch.[/b]

I said about the fact he was made to run home from Kilgraston.
Just Dobbie was made to do this? I'd hazard a guess that his confidence will be pretty low then (especially if all the stick he was getting from Owen at Gayfield is the norm). Basically I'm agreeing with Gary but I'd be disappointed if these stories are true as it's tantamount to bullying the guy!

Yes, i had heard he went to ge ton the minibus home and Coyle was like where do you think your going, you're running home with me...so of Owen and Stephen went jogging all the way back to Perth.

He is singled out for it because of his size, but there's a damn good few of them who could be at better fitness than they are just now!

(and before anyone says rich coming from you, i am (clearly) not supposed to be an athlete!!!)

Would you not say some of Copyle's criticism aimed at Dobbie at Gayfield was a bit over the mark sometimes? I thought there was things he was getting the blame for that Coyle was clearly the one in the wrong over.

"been worked really hard by Coyle in training every day" (quote Hazel last week)

When did i say that?
Last week, when I commented on him not being as thin as he possibly should be!!!

Anyway, back to points raised and BH has got it spot on with confidence. We will see tomorrow as I assume Coyle, Doris and Dobbie will be in the reserves line up against East Fife.

Broggy, Dobbie was not injured - he was in the stand because he had been dropped from the squad - he still had his bag with him that he brought to the game.

That being the case Chopper I'm pretty disapointed at OC unless there is ofcourse something we dont know. Dobbie even performing under par would have brought more to the game in ten mins than OC did in his entire appearance

Do he didn't have a hamstring injury at all then?

Are you sure he didn't have a fitness test pre match?

Well he was walking fine down the stairs and didn't mention it when asking why he wasn't out there coming down the stairs at half time (it was one behind the other rather than both squeezing onto the same stair :***: )

According to Jim in the Tully, Dobs is still injured - quite surprising as you would expect someone with a hamstring injury to be limping at least slightly :?

I wouldn't say anything dodgy - he may well have had a fitness test before the game and wasn't going to be risked. After all, hamstrings are the worst injury footballers can half as they never properly recover unless given complete rest for an absolute age.

dodgy in the sense that two seperate stories have been picked up, if the stories are to be true of OCs treatment of dobbie, i think this is very poor man management. Oc can't moan at anyone at present time IMO.

IMHO Dobs looks slimmer and fitter now than when he first arrived at the club, but is playing the worst football of his career here.

From what I have witnessed personally at games, occasional training sessions etc, Dobs & OC do not get on, which is unfortunate for both parties and even more so for us as a club.

I am positive that Dobs has suffered a total break down in confidence, just like 99% of us would do if we suffered constant criticism. I am a great fan of OC but I personally feel he is wrong in his treatment of Dobs, unless there is something we don't know about, and I find that hard to believe with the amount of moles we have on this site

Quite agree Rory, after Saturday's performance I hope OC also took note of his playing on the video he made the team sit and watch. In my mind, it was not what I had expected and he looked like a lost kid playing with the big boys :?

More than once this season Dobbie has looked slower than Chris Hay. Only problem is that Chris Hay scored often if he ever made it near the goal

This proves that at the start of the seaosn when he was getting a game that Mr Dobbie was in fine shape and was losing the weight - he stops playing in the first team and strangely enough he becomes a "fat git" (as you so kindly put it, Gezzy!)

Coincidence? I think not!

If there's ever proof needed that reserve games may not be needed as a challenge but to keep the fitness up that is needed.

You wil all eat your words sooner rather than later (although it may be with another team  )

OOoooh the Dobster! oooooooh the Dobster!
