I was thinking about getting the train at either 11 or 11.30 - what do you guys think? Plus who's all getting on at Haymarket?

My mad, mental, slightly weird Italian mate who lives in Linlithgow has a free pass from the Mrs for the day so is coming along to see some real football. Any idea if all the train stops in Linlithgow? If not, he can just meet us in Falkirk.

Haymarket is more than likley for Nold and myself. I'm pretty sure the train does stop in Linlithgow though.

All trains from Edinburgh to Falkirk Grahamston stop at Linlithgow on route.

There's the Railway Tavern directly across from the station in the center of town. Then It's about half an hour trek down to the stadium.

This was taken off the Scottish Football Ground Guide:-

Being on the outskirts of Falkirk there is not much in the way of choice of places to drink. Neil Stewart informs me; 'The nearest pub is the Mill Inn on Thornhill Road, which is around a five minute walk way, going towards the town centre. There is also the Tam Bain in Mary Street, Laurieston, which is around 10 minutes north of the stadium'. Kevin Dunn adds; 'There is a bar called Pennies at the old ice rink, just off the Grangemouth Road. Go up Grangemouth Rd towards the town centre and you will pass the college and the old ice rink (which is now an indoor football centre) on the left hand side. The pub is just down the right hand side of the old ice rink, near to the Saturday market'.

Otherwise it is probably best to drink somewhere on the way beforehand or else take the 20-25 minute walk into Falkirk town centre where there are plenty of bars to be found. Lindsey Coombs adds; 'I would recommend the 'Behind the Wall' bar in the town centre, for a drink before the game. It has won supporters awards in the past and is located in the centre of Falkirk, close to Grahamston station.

Not too sure if the locals will be that friendly in there, good boozer at normal times, but before the game not sure

Why not all meet at the railway tav as Dougie suggests and make a decision then, should be there about 12

11.30 train it is then.

We went to Behind the Wall after the postponed game. It was OK. What about The Tropix Bar - Chopper, Nold, Dougie et al went there last time - or was it crap?

Edited to add: I've got a ticket from Chopper for you Dougie.

Andy the jail tour bus is going to sportsters(Princes Street,FK1 1LU) pre game.If your walking up the hill towards the town centre from the cabby(RT) you go through the underpass (or over the roundabout) its one of the streets off to the left.

I know where you are meaning, could head up in that direction after our rendezvous at the Railway, or to the tropics,I will go with the flow, just looking for a nice cool beer

So see you all on the 11 30 train at Waverley and meet the rest of you when you board at Haymarket

Tropix was a decent boozer - pints well priced, busy with a lot of Falkirk fans who were all pretty good and certainly a very welcoming lot. As previously mentioned they run a bus for a pound each way to the ground from the boozer as well so may be a good ending point pre-match.

I'll be getting on at Haymarket. I might be going into town before though, so I'll just meet you at the station about 11.30.
