  1. Brilliant - Match thread now taken over by 'barbers' banter.

  2. No, I don't either. Some on here have had it in for SL from the start too and are clearly unable/don't want to change their views. However, I've a bone to pick with you......you make comments on here that are far too sensible and measured - we can't have such things on a footie forum!! :-)

    Ultras

was recently at a hamburg vs bayern munich game, interesting experience. They both had ultras sections, and the stadium was sectioned off where the 'ultras' were standing only for both home and away fans, but you needed special passes (gold cards) to get into the 'elite' standing sections. We tried to get into these sections from our seats but got rejected. The atmospheres in both were great, singing, dancing, drums, and each had a 'conductor' with a foghorn managing the songs and timing... we were in the Bayern end, and I'd say around 6000 Bayern fams, of which 2000 were standing and the Hamburg end had around 7-8000 standing fans. The stadium is set up so the seats are added for any international/europe match (have to be all seated by law) and then retracted for every home game so you have that mix of seated and terraced. While you walked away from the game thinking it was very germanic and over structured , you also couldn't help but feel that this was the future of a good mix for vocal / energetic fans and the family environment. As andy mentioned, saints setcion could be ultra small, but I would peronally love to stand for a game in a special section and for sure it would create a better atmosphere, even if only 100 strong...call it what you fukking want. Not sure on scotish football law on this, but having just been to celtic park that green brigade bunch stood the whole game and did the same shit anyway. Personally, the family concept of our sport, all seating etc has killed the atmosphere and probably a big reason attendances are down over the years. Lots could be learned from germans, other countries if clubs made the effort to learn. And as some other info, Hamburg are shit, never win much if anything, mid table to bottom, and have sold out every home game this season, last season with 57,000 fans per game. Also, they have cold beer served everywhere, with guys carrying kegs and also fresh pints being delivered to your seat....not sure how that would go down in scotland, but we did see a 65 year old bayern fan tumble 10 feet into a lower section crushing a few of his own supporters...worth every penny

  5. I believe that cup games take priority so I think that means they could make us play the cup game on Bicing Day

Any chance of one of the mods changing the thread title? Perhaps to something along the lines of 'Singing section'...

Satisfied. We're 4 points off second place in the SPL, does anyone honestly believe we're underachieving? Don't care about his ineptitude in interviews, his job is to get results for Saints (which he very recently did 6 times in a row). We've been a bit shaky of late but the same was true at the start of the season and things turned around. Really not into the 'SACK THE MANAGER NOW!' attitude a lot of our number employ when things haven't been going our way for a few weeks. There are more productive ways of supporting the team and it often feels like anyone we have managing/playing for us has to prove themselves afresh to a section of our support every week, no matter how much they've done for us in the past. At the end of the day football's about entertainment, and the last few months have been pretty exciting. What more can you ask for?

  10. Aberdeen are charging £17 on Dec 22 for a 14yr old which is disgraceful. Sunderland are charging £1 for U16's for their match against Spurs on the same day. My son had encouraged about 8 of his mates to go but they are put off by the price. Unless we get a sensible pricing structure in the SPL the crowds will never improve.

    Double Game Ticket?

None of us get paid to do this but we all want to see the best for the club. I've watched the ice hockey team here in Glasgow go from nothing to regular crowds in excess of 2000 without any exposure to the media, it's all been done through a collective effort of supporters. Yes I said 'we', but if you dont want then dont. Meanwhile we can all go back to slating the club because perversly we love it.

  13. Honestly, you'd think we were marooned at the bottom the way some folk go on. The guy has done the job for a whole year and needs a break from some.

Positives -Good signings -Excellent organisation of back 4 (a must if you want to be successful, the rest is experimental) -Rebuilt the team quickly and impressively after losing key players (Morris, Fran, Sheridan) -Is getting the best out of key players McKay is growing in his role (last weeks red mist aside) Davidson is similarly starting to fulfill his potential. -Getting results, Saints are stick on for top 6, every chance of better. -5/6 straight wins (I think?), no mean feat this season, I doubt any other team has matched this or will before the season is out. -Instilling a winning mentality, no surprise the team were petulant last week, just bested the team who were very recently top of the league, all over the park, and lost a late goal after missing a penalty, it hurt and the team showed it! (Again yesterday showed a lot of balls.) -He and his team are universally underrated, (even on here) never a bad thing. Negatives -Changes the team too much -Is dreadful with a camera or microphone in the vicinity -Has to balance aggression/passion with a more measured approach, as this is spilling on to the pitch. -Never talk about sevco! (all these can be changed without too much difficulty!)

  16. In a few months, is already one of the most successful Saints managers on paper. MOTM, winninig sequence, shot at Europe, looking good for top 6 for only the seond time. Very satisfied. Not happy about the twattish behaviour on the touchline. The anti-Lomas guys have never, ever said what he has to do to satisfy them, other than bewildering nonsense abou how Scobie should have been two inches to the left when he got that long pass in the friendly against Ballymena Rovers, his subbies are shite (but only when we lost - apparently they become brilliant and Christ-like when we win), he once folded his arms and looked bored when we played CowRangStDU, here's 14 paragraphs of detailed tactical analysis that proves when we beat Celtic we were actually shite, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. In specific terms, in terms of results and placings, WHAT would satisfy you? I asked the Beloved. She replies she is very satisfied by Lomas' performance. I wasn't aware they had met.

Satisfied. Great signings, some strange selections and formations. But he is a young manager gaining experience Passionate, kicks every ball. Could do to curb his 'enthusiasm'. But he is a young manager gaining experience Comes across as a bit arrogant at times, when I've spoken to him he seems a bit aloof but maybe thats just me. I don't have to want to go for a pint with the man, as long as he does a good job for St Johnstone I'll be happy. Which so far, he is!
