  1. When you consider on Saturday it took an average of around 35 people 3.5 hours to clear 30% of the pitch plus get the surrounding areas gritted then you can see how long it takes to clear a full pitch. Those 35 people were like burst balls by then - most of them over the age of 45. No way they could carry on for the full day. I'm reasonably fit and my back was killing me by half eleven. You have to remember that the snow you dig out in the middle of pitch has to be dragged 50 yards to the side and dumped on top of an ever growing mountain of snow. And it's heavy. And it's slow. So all the volunteers left on Sat and they had absolute blizzards on Sunday - another 4 or 5 inches of snow laying. Nothing you can do about that and no clearing could go on. Even if they covered the areas that were previously cleared you still need to dig that out again. On Monday they got landscape gardening company to come on (for free) to clear the pitch as best they could. Remember everyone is at work - not easy to get volunteers. By that point the thaw starts and the ground starts to get a bit soggy. Then today, it's absolutely pissed it down the full day on an already soggy pitch. I'm not sure what else they could have done? Sometimes in Scotland the weather is just shite.

  2. I think people are being really unfair on Albion Rovers and their efforts to get the game on. Please remember this game was postponed due to the elements and a really large snow fall. Rovers are a lower division club with limited reduces to real with this. It sounds like they have done all they can. With all the resources we have, we have had games postponed when the pitch is playable but didn't clear the car park. We live in Scotland, what do you expect. All credit to Albion Rovers and their fans (and some of ours) for their efforts to date

  3. The terracing would need to be cleared or the police could call it off. Snow had to be left on the pitch to protect from the frost. They said they tried their best. If you had a spade instead of a keyboard maybe the game would have been on.

  4. We have a new Star of the small screen alive and kicking in Barossa Street. Well done BAZM who appeared in last nights episode of The Forrest, looked like you were having a ball apart from maybe the sing song at the end. Had to do a double take to make sure it was you but your RAB clothing advert gave it away!

  5. We might be a team with our SPL compliant 10,000 seater stadium and our super underground heating system but we should show more respectful to teams in the lower divisions like Albion Rovers. It doesn't seem that long ago that Muirton Park was limited to under 5,000 because it was such a dump. Instead of moaning and coming over all self important, try and thank the helpers from two sets of supporters who volunteered to try and get the game on for all of us.

  10. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/st-johnstone/582494/st-johnstone-boss-foolish-not-try-sign-danny-swanson/ "Meanwhile, defender Brain Easton could be facing another spell on the sidelines. The left-back only returned to action in the last game of 2017 after a two-month lay-off following knee surgery. He may have to go under the knife again, though. Wright, who confirmed Paul Paton will also miss tomorrow’s Scottish Cup clash with Albion Rovers, said: “Brian is a concern. We’ll have to send him for a scan. “He had a problem around his pelvic area at the start of the season. He got an injection during one of the international breaks and that made a difference but last week the problem started to come back. “We’ll see what the scan shows. The fact that it’s come back suggests that we might need to get him a small operation."

  11. This could be a very important 8 days for Tommy in his career. We're not that far off the relegation pack and we've a slightly weakened squad, especially with the news that Easton is out for another month or two. Others in and around us have brought players in too. With 60-80 grand (?) per position at stake in the league perhaps now might be the time for Steve to push it a little to save us from getting dragged into the pack below? I guess it depends on how much faith he has in the existing squad to steer us clear.

  13. I see comments relating to Saints' shares on other threads. Would there be much demand for a share issue? I'd love to own a piece of my club!

  14. The turnstiles in the North Stand at Cliftonhill, are apparently turnstiles taken from Muirton Park and sold to Albion Rovers at the time of our move to McDiarmid. Not sure if we'll be anywhere near them on Tuesday, but might be able to get some reminiscing on the go for folk who remember them.
