  1. I was up at this absolute shambles of a ground and all I can applaud is the folk who managed to sit down during it . I stood at the back hiding behind a big **** off girder to take some of that chill belting in off the artic circle , that was till the 3rd went in then we rapidly retreated to the 1st boozer we could find .Waste of £26 but a guid day out apart from the fitbaw.

  2. The 3-2 scoreline flattered Killie who were bossed by Saints for most of the game. In the 1st minute Saints could have been a goal down when the diminutive Alex Samizadadeh ( who was the only threat to Saints with his trickery) was flagged offside when it appeared he was clean through. A great triangular passing movement, and a cut back from the right was hammered into the roof of the net from close range ( in the 8th minute) by midfielder McCann, who proved to be instrumental in most of Saints moves over the piece. Saints continued to create chances and but for bad finishing ( namely a Jamie Docherty header, when free at the back post missed the target from point blank range ) should have been further ahead, before Jack Wilson from a Kyle McClean corner made it 2-0 with a thumping header just before the break. 2nd half much the same as Killie were hemmed into their own half, with any hoofed clearance mopped up by the impressive Liam Gordon. Killie got an unexpected break in the 72nd minute when a free kick from no.8 McDonald took a wicked deflection off Saints defensive wall and changed direction , with keeper Ross Sinclair unable to make up the ground as the ball spun into the net. More pressure in the 82nd minute resulted in Cameron Ballantyne finding the net. 3-1 to the Saints. As the match neared it's conclusion, Killie got another break when Comrie (I believe) inexplicably put too much pressure on the attacker, when the ball was heading away from goal on the byline and conceded a penalty. Soft, but nonetheless a penalty. No.9 Innes Cameron who didn't get a look in all evening, stepped up to score, sending Sinclair the wrong way. Impressive passing performance by the team who should have won by a bigger margin.

  3. Keep saying this and one of these days I will actually do what I say and give the god forsaken place a miss... first of all the away fans are herded in to restricted view seats, with no protection from the North Sea.. it was miserably cold with wind whistling in across the stand.. then we had some Saints fans who decided to stand, no problem with that provided they had stood at the back, not only was it irritating to the folk behind them who had to move seats.. it was irritating to us further back having moved and still being denied a good view of the pitch. I thought it was only the old firm who had no regard for anyone else... still no one said Saints fans are perfect!!

  4. I take it you are thinking that a director of football role could take on the recruitment role that TW has talked about. Tommy old pal Steve loans is still unemployed maybe he could do the recruitment role.

  6. I think it would have been a big final six games of the season for Alston and the management team would have been watching him closely. As it is, they have to base their decision on what he's offered up until now. I know he was injured for a spell this season but he's played not an awful lot over 50% of the available league minutes in his time at the club, so I think it's fair to say hasn't really established himself. Rory McKenzie is maybe slightly more forward minded but the fact that TW was after him possibly doesn't bode well for Alston. If he were to leave Saints, would he get another Premiership club? Would you be worried about facing him? I'm open-minded on him probably but would level the charge at him that his best games come when the team play well. Do you ever come away from a poor performance thinking that at least Alston did well? I can't remember that happening.

  7. Was really pleased when we signed Alston but have been disappointed . I don't think he is a winger or a wingback as like Spoony he doesn't have the pace. Getting a player better may be a problem though as the guy can't be faulted for effort & going on his Falkirk form there is a player in there.

  9. After the last 3 games a few on here were suggesting that the players they had vilified for most of the season had suddenly become good enough. I wasn't prepared to slate the players earlier in the season and was not prepared to say they have suddenly become good enough for next season. Aberdeen were clinical and taught us a bit of a lesson in taking chances on Saturday, just as they had done in the previous 2 games this season. But to keep things in perspective, they have a far bigger budget than us and have been the 2nd best team in the country for a few years now. I'm delighted we've done enough to avoid relegation, but we need some real quality in the door for next season. The return of Scougall might help, and if we could keep Williams I'd say that would be a real coup. We still need a strong CM, a striker, another wide player and I'd like to see a more commanding centre-half coming in.

Well yes. To arrange fixtures solely in the interest of a few clubs is demonstrably unfair to the others. What makes Rangers visiting Celtic Park three times more important than us visiting Fir Park three times? The final Old Firm game date and venue was set over a month ago, no matter who finished in the top half. How's that fair?

  11. Yep, some managers would dwell far more on the success of the past few years when given the opportunity but it's clear that TW still has the ambition to get Saints back to that level. Ambition that requires financing. Think we really need to push for seventh place for the financial benefits it brings. The top six will get their monetary reward, Motherwell will have at least three trips to Hampden and Dundee sold a player for seven figures, plus have outside investment like Thistle do. It's getting harder for Saints to compete, especially with dwindling crowds. I realise it might be against his nature but I think Steve Brown really does need to consider spending some of that cash in the bank this summer.

  12. Worth noting after today's results the best points total County can get is 43, and Thistle is 46. We're on 37. So you're looking at County having to win all but one of their games, due to their goal difference, and Thistle winning all but two of their games, for us to drop below those two. You'd then have to find a set of results which leads to that happening, and Hamilton/Dundee gaining over nine points on us. I've not done the maths, but I genuinely don't think we can be relegated since everyone in our half has to play each other

  13. Very decent of you both john and cagey, and much appreciated. This will get worse before it gets better....i really pity czaba, the club is toxic and he appears powerless in the face of such steep decline. If we lose on saturday i suspect he will resign, and luggy will stand in. Ever the optimist, i predict luggy turns us round and returns to dens in a play off, and haunts the dee one last excruciating time.......

  15. Comrie is better than foster at football. He is also less likely to get sent off, fight his team mates or kick referees door in.
