I would bloody love it if Lomas ended up managing Dundee. It would make our derbies absolute must-sees.

  9. I think we have a great chance to upset the Dons on Saturday. Aberdeen are clearly struggling to fill the void of their center backs and suspensions and we for the first time in a long time are going in to games with some decent form and confidence behind us. Really looking forward to this game, lets hope we get a decent crowd.

It was definitely plural. What was enlightening is that in the minutes from the 2017 AGM, he says fans/shareholders would be surprised if they knew the salaries of some players. He's not wrong! Interesting why he's chosen to disclose the information now...

  13. It'll never happen, but I'd love to see a return to the old format of European Cup just for champions, Cup Winners Cup for cup winners and UEFA Cup for the best of the rest. I think these competitions have really lost their way over the last couple of decades - too many of the same old mega-rich clubs playing each other over and over and over again. I read somewhere recently that viewing figures have really nose-dived too. Other than occasionally watching the CL final and of course watching the Saints European games, I haven't watched a CL or Europa League match in years. I think there's so much that could be done to shake these tournaments up but the small number of powerful clubs at the top will never allow anything to happen that doesn't directly benefit the richest.

We were at the game. Half empty, with lots of cynicism mostly directed at Mulgrew and Naismith (until he scored). McGinn had a few howlers in the second half and maybe should have been taken off. It was a relief to come away with a win, but we should be thrashing these sorts of teams and werent able to.

  17. Normally I’d say we shouldn’t give up the East Stand, but I’d give them everything except the Main for this one. The difference between having 7000 Celtic fans and 4800 isn’t going to massively change the advantage in terms of noise in the ground. It will be like a home game for them regardless. But in terms of income we could be looking at an extra £45,000. It will be on tv as well so even more cash. In terms of people saying never mind the money, give them the usual allocation rather than hand over the advantage then I don’t get that. If we decide to sod the money for an old firm game and just gave them 1000 seats and left 7000 empty, I would be fine with that and could understand. I still think we’ve got a real chance of beating them, and will go to the game optimistic we will, and I don’t see how giving them 2200 more seats changes that. We’ve gone to Celtic Park and Ibrox in the past year in front of 50,000 and got results. The simple fact of the matter, whether we like it or not, is other than cup finals and big European games, the people of Perth don’t really give a **** about St Johnstone. Sad but true. And if selling our soul for this one match and having a near full house means we can bring in a quality central midfielder, and for the rest of the season we get to enjoy some great performances and success, then let’s do it.
