  1. You sound like you will be at the front of the queue to burn books and turn in your family and neighbours! Don't bring kids to a football match? That seems a bit backward, fits in well with the rest of your rant though.

    Coming Home

I know a lot of people on here started out in Perth and have ended up moving to different places all over the world. Just curious to know, are there many among us who have successfully returned to Perth after time away? I've lived in England for the last 13 years and would love to move back to Perth but it seems quite a difficult thing to do (in particular with regard to finding a suitable job - from looking at various job sites, it seems there's not much that is regularly available unless you're a teacher, social worker, driver or retail assistant). Would love to hear people's experiences of doing this (or attempting to).

  4. In the 10 years in the Top Division so far we have played 368 games. We have conceded 456 goals loosing on average 1.239 goals per game. Of goals against we lost 217 in the first half and 239 in the second. Breaking that down further, goals against in the first 30 minutes = 142 , 31.14%, 2nd 30 minutes, goals against 133, 29.17%, 3rd 30 minutes, goals against 181, 39.69%. This clearly shows that it is the last third of games where we loose most goals. However, the worst period overall is the last 10 minutes plus added time at the end of the second half where we have lost 81 goals or 17.77% of all goals against. An interesting example of this was a game at Parkhead in season 2010 /11 where we held Celtic nil nil at 90 minutes only to loose 2 nil to 2 added time goals. 1-10 minutes, against 44 = 9.65% of total. 11-20, against 50 = 10.96% 21-30, against 48 = 10.53% 31-40, against 50 = 10.96% 41-45, against 21 = 4.6% First half added time, goals against 4 = 0.88% 46-50, against 12 = 2.63% 51-60, against 46 = 10.09% 61-70, against 54 = 11.84% 71-80, against 46 = 10.09% 81-90, against 62 = 13.6% 2nd half added time, against 19 = 4.17% Figures show that goals lost is spread pretty evenly across all 10 minute periods except the last 10 minutes plus added time. How many of these goals in the last 10 minutes were match winners I don't know. One really interesting fact is our strongest period defence wise across the 10 years has been added time at the end of the first half. We have only conceded 4 goals in first half added time and remarkably they were all in one season, 2010/11. We also concede relatively few goals in the first 5 minutes after half time, only 12 in total and 3 each of those were in seasons 2009/10 and 2016/17. Our defensive record over the 10 years has been fantastic. A superb effort from the team which has a major bearing on our success.

  5. You might be surprised at the stats. Difficult to argue that loosing an early goal is always difficult to recover from and some goals scored by the opposition in the last 10 minutes are sometimes just consolation goals. Actually statistically the first 10 minutes is where we concede the least % of goals in any 10 minute slot apart from combining the 5 minutes either side of half time. Will post some stats on the affect of the early away goal in due course but in the meantime stats to follow on goals against. Makes interesting reading.

  8. Why does the fact that it's a football match make it OK? Here's an alternative suggestion: maybe the person who shouldn't be going to football matches is the guy who can't go to them without randomly shrieking abuse at people? Honestly, some of the behaviour you see from grown men at football matches, under the bizarre excuse of "it's a football match", is just downright odd.

  9. This whole thing is b*******. Reported to the police for being rude to someone? If your kids are affected by swearing at a football match, sit somewhere else. Or if there's nowhere else to sit because...and here's the thing...IT'S A FOOTBALL MATCH, the solution is simple -don't bring them to a football match. People are getting fed up with this precious victim garbage, because what you end up with is freedom of speech and association stamped on by the State. Once we start down that route, all bets are off and things get really ugly. Thankfully the wheel is starting to turn. History tells us very clearly that erosion of liberties like this (particularly when it's dressed up with the"for the common good" excuse) never ends well... The times in which we live, eh?
