  2. Going even further back I can remember when Saints' PR consisted of a billboard (borrowed from an Evening Telegraph seller) outside St Pauls saying "Match Off". If they were really making an effort it would say "Match Off - Snow".

I've only been on two of the trips as well, Luzern and also Vaasa in 1999. Both incredible experiences and, as said, we were about as lucky as you could be in getting to visit somewhere as beautiful as Lucerne. The scenes when MacLean scored and then the buses back into town after the game were memorable. Finland really was a step into the unknown (although scary now that was 28 years after last playing in Europe and we are now 20 years since the Clark campaign) but again, incredible memories. Only a couple of hundred Saints fans but the centre of the town - and O'Malley's bar - seemed to be taken over by blue and white.

My two experiences of watching us play away in Europe were Monaco and Luzern, which were both incredible trips. Rosenborg's a bit more of a sore memory for me as I'd booked up to travel and then had to pull out due to illness. But I'd also give a special mention to the home game against Luzern, which I think was possibly one of my favourite ever experiences at McDiarmid. Fantastic performance on the pitch, a thrilling penalty shoot out ending, and a brilliant, noisy atmosphere under the McD floodlights. It's not always possible to get to all the away games for all of us when we qualify, but it's nights like that Luzern game at home that make me desperate to watch us in Europe again. One thing I could never understand was when some people started treating these matches as if they were some sort of inconvenience. For me, they were the absolute pinnacle.

  7. In fairness, we think Saints can do bigger things because we've seen Saints do them.

  8. Aye but we could be bigger if people wanted it to be ,this “small club” mentality is really starting to get on my tits , get some of the so called money we have spent on some new faces before we’re all doddling along to our “small club” in the 1st division where a lot of people on here seem to believe that’s where we belong .

  9. How can Tommy go from stating his number one priority this window is a striker, to now saying we need to shift players in order to bring in new ones. So what, we spent the budget on Duffy and Parish? The PR around this is pathetic and it makes Tommy and Brown look stupid. Every single window this tired old line comes out, the clubs failure to present itself in the media appropriately is so poor and it's beginning to look like it's not a lack of resource, but just a lack of care and experience. The club needs freshening up and not just on the pitch.

    Season Tickets

Just as well there wasn't home game last Saturday, you would have missed your 2 free games. Why are they leaving it so late to send out tickets ?. Were they waiting to produce them all in the one batch ?. Probably cheaper that way.

  11. Using paper forms is a big part of this problem. It's the worst possible way to collect data if you want it to be accurate. On-line forms next year should help but given that someone will have to punch the data into a system at some point in the process I'm struggling to understand why the club still use paper for this. Looking forward to the day when we can renew with one tap on a phone, pay with paypal, and use the phone as a ticket.

    Betfred Cup

Neither were beaten, both got a bit of positivity. Neither were laughing stock of Scotland like us (for those who knew it was on). Shouldn't be comparing ourselves to a top flight relegated side and a play off survivor... in your comparison we are worse off than these two teams. It's abysmal to contemplate any positivity from a defeat from Montrose. Its not the end of the world but a few years back we were playing in Europe, shows the massive change in emphasis. Don't care for league cup now, players clearly cant be arsed either.

  15. I think he’s doing a great job generally speaking too. There are a few flaws which I think generally stem back to communication but he’s managed to oversee a very successful period in our history, hired our most successful manager who he has allowed to build his squads and has backed him in most windows, particularly since 2014. He’s managed all this whilst keeping us out of debt and a seven figure bank balance even with dwindling crowds. I wish he wasn’t as risk averse as he is but I don’t think we can really underestimate how lucky we are to have someone like him at the wheel.

  16. I don't understand the claim about the budget either, unless we we're either significantly over it last season (possible) or it's been reduced significantly (less likely, although not impossible). What I'd say there is there are clearly players earning far too much if little over 20 pros and a handful of kids is swallowing up around £1 million. Getting shot of McMillan would help but that will still leave us just three strikers. If we don't get Stevie May, I really worry about what we'll end up with. It'll be another Morgan or Johnstone but this time we don't already have the players at the club to get by.
