  1. Need to do this until we actually get a decent striker...

  2. Even if we went down this season it still wouldn't be time to have a thread by this title.

  3. There was a period in the mid late 80’s where celery was taken to the game and thrown on the pitch to the tune of.... ”Celery! Celery!........ah rumpy pumpy pumpy pum, stick it up your bum .......Celery! Celery!........” classic nonsense which needs to make a comeback......! there was also one that went something like “if you want to go to heaven when you die, buy a Saintees shirt and a Saintess tie, when you’re put back in the earth, tell the the big man you’re from Perth, If you want to go to heaven when you die........”

  5. I certainly wouldn't be letting Callachan go, I know he divides opinion with us fans, but he as plenty to offer and much like Alston, is a very handy member of the squad to have. He was fantastic away to Dundee last season and was pass perfect, which leads me to think that if we could get the right balance of energy with positional sense then he could be an important player for us. Whilst I don't think McLean is ready to be a regular starter I was encouraged by what I say against Brechin (granted one of the very worst and unfit sides I've seen at McDiarmid). I think he could possibly hold his own against some of the lower sides in the league if required. I don't see McCann as being anywhere near the standard to at any game time for us next season.... Definitely needs a loan to a championship side to see if he's even at that level. That leaves possible departures of four players in my eyes.... McMillan, Anderson, one of our wider players and Hendry. Both McMillan and Anderson are miles away from what we need (as much as it pains me to say it about Ando). If we could move them in on in order bring in a second new striker and a player that can cover left back I think the squad would have much more balance..... Duffy can act as our fourth choice centre back and full back cover. A player in the mould of Chris Millar would be fantastic as well and would make a huge difference. I think Hendry would benefit greatly from a loan to the Championship, but as things stand can't see us allowing him to move on unless we can magic two strikers out the budget. I'd be happy enough with Kane, two new strikers and MOH as a potential fourth option upfront.

  6. Not unless we’ve re-signed Vine.

  7. Those two went on loan to the seaside leagues for a year, then a full season in the Championship (where they both did very well) before coming into the reckoning. McCann and McClean spent a few months at part-time clubs. There is a clear difference.

  8. To be fair it worked after we brought Zander and May back from loan. I think that was the plan as Murray was on the bench but diod not even have his shorts on, only having to put them on when the young lad was injured.

  9. There's no question that lower league football is a totally different game, especially on plastic pitches. The Forfar highlights showed players getting zero space to play football, players throwing themselves into blocks and tackles. It's a game of small margins, and the Celtic game will be the polar opposite of Forfar or Montrose. It doesn't change the fact that we need a striker and some confidence, but I don't think it's all doom and gloom yet.

    Taxi for Tommy?

Craig Swan in the Daily Record has us finishing top six says Tommy will get it right in the end.

  11. How the club felt that two young lads playing for Linfield and Stranraer last season were suddenly ready and capable for the top flight is rather questionable..

I wondered about Danny playing that central role while watching the Forfar debacle. He was pinging some nice passes long to Matty Kennedy in particular. With Drey on the other side it would open up play a lot. It was his shorter passes that were coming unstuck. Still think Danny could do the job though.

    Saints v Forfar

I’ve read this opinion many, many times, but it completely misses out a very relevant point - we’ve finished fourth three times since, and never been in any danger of relegation, whilst completely rebuilding the squad to a younger, more athletic group, which everyone was crying out for. ‘The cup win was five years ago,’ suggests we’ve been pish since. We’ve qualified for Europe a further twice since then, the same amount of times we qualified in the 127 years before Tommy Wright came to Perth.

Getting to the point where Brown will be thinking about it. He let him sign a lot of players last season & we finished lower in the league. The football has been abysmal & the crowds are drifting away. The start of the season has been a disaster just when we needed a boost ahead of a tough start to the league.
