  1. I think there are obvious signs that the Youth programme at Saints is slowly starting to beat fruit. As a rule most clubs, anywhere in the world, only have a handful of players who ever make it from any 'generation' if any at all but it's to Saints credit that we have a few who look like they might achieve something with the club. Based on what I have seen there are a couple of the younger group who have a real chance as well as long as they keep at it and keep improving. Arron Comrie has really caught the eye in the few games I've seem him play. As for people saying that the young lads must not be showing up well in training or this one has a bad attitude and so on it's purely conjecture. There may be any number of reasons why they aren't pushing on in terms of starts in the first team. My own personal feeling is that Tommy Wright is the most pragmatic of managers and simply doesn't trust youth. That's only based on what I have saw. Remember, Chris Kane came back from a good scoring spell on loan, played a handful of games where he did well, particularly against Aberdeen in the 1-1 draw and against United at Tannadice. He was barely seen again for the rest of the season. We have to question why - especially with MacLean offering nothing in terms of goals and often general play. Wright should have had Kane in the side at that point, gaining experience and probably performing better than Macca was. Even going back to Stevie May it's easy to forget he wasn't even meant to play against Rosenborg that night. I often wonder how things might have panned out if Midge had been fit......
  2. I don't agree at all that crowd size has direct correlation with periods of success. Saints are a prime example right under our noses. Motherwell have had periods of 'relative' success with low crowds. In England in recent years Spurs have regularly finished above clubs with far bigger crowds - Villa, Liverpool, Everton on a very regular basis, not too mention consistent top 5/6 finishes including quite recently finishing above Man City, United and Chelsea. A success of a football club is in my opinion defined by a few things. A manager who can work with what he's got. The right players buying into that managers plans. Unless you are Chelsea or City and have a sugar daddy.
  3. Just because they are both left footed Liam and Lappin shouldn't be classed as similar players cause that's where it ends. Liam will create and score much more regularly and can help out in a variety of positions. Lappin, though alright in his own right, isn't as flexible and is a more limited footballer not to mention 4 years older.
  4. There's no comparison really. Liam Craig is much better.
  5. Brad McKay is going to be a big player for Saints. He's a Footballing defender by the way based on the 2 and a bit games I've seen him play for Saints. Liam Craig did well. As did McCabe, without being outstanding.
  6. I actually thought it sounded like there was a recording being played in what sounded like Arabic.
  7. I agree. Think it was totally non football reasons that he opted to stay down there for. Though you never know. Really liked him though and would happily have him back at Saints.
  8. Jesus where to start? Strange starting team for one thing. Was clearly never going to work and by the 20th minute should have been tweaked. Fair enough we were probably marginally better than Alashkert but never really fully in command and apart from our goal and the flurry near the end we created the route sum of **** all. I've no idea why we seem to **** it up against these so called minnows. Maybe we are just shite. Lying in bed last night thought of the 1999 team and how they would have hoovered this lot up and quite probably by a distance. Take off the blue tinted specs and might be the case that although this era will be remembered as a successful team they are nowhere near the best Saints one. Maybe that's just down to the overall picture and standard dip in the Scottish game in general I don't know. Now, to clarify, I'm not saying Scottish football is necessarily boring or crap to watch etc, but the standard throughout is way below what it was.
  9. Hello Hendon, Lark Saint, Tranmere Saintee, PerthSeany, Patsy etc.
  10. Aye based out at Scone Aerodrome but serve the whole of Scotland.
  11. You understand it completely wrongly. My mate done his in 2009 and still has issues now after maybe 5 separate surgeries or so. In fact he's going for another in September.
  12. What a load of shite. My views are my own and very often these are in conflict with any happy clapper brigade. Obviously you only take in what you want to bit there's one or two great folk on here when it comes to 'football matters'.
  13. But does he have a ticket for Thursday?
  14. How can you be racist, to a faith? Serious question.....
  15. Aberdeen away levels of ticket madness, quandaries and all manner of chat. What an exciting and nailbiting and frankly breathtaking thread this has become.

    Joma

Joma are absolutely fine. Much better than Adidas and Puma for football gear, unless it's bespoke stuff. The quality of Nike/Adidas/Puma replica kit is outstandingly bad whereas the Kims stuff in my experience has lasted well.
  17. I'd also saw we were playing Stenny that day......
  18. I'm using the figures that Postie presented. Over the season the away buses made a loss of 191 quid. Once the football cards are taken into account they will have made a small profit. The worst offenders from memory were the shorter trips to United and Dundee but I don't have the figures in front of me just now. Over the piece the away bus isn't the issue and while it is disappointing that there is one or two that did make losses there may be mitigation as to why and its would be daft to not run a bus to that game based on last season. For example it's entirely possible that Ross County away on a Sunday on opening day would have been a slight loss but if it was a Saturday it may have been different. Etc etc. Any organisation worth it salt should be able to evaluate that it's more about making sure that the numbers add up over a determined period. In our case over a season. If perhaps we don't run a bus to certain games people will in turn stop using the bus for other games. The home bus is of course an absolute skelper that is hemorrhaging money yet some were keen to keep it, as it stood. That's beyond my tiny mind.
