  1. Never misses a turn. I'd rather read the collected works of Fergiefootball and 101 than suffer the wit and wisdom of this clown who forgot to grow up.
  2. Oops - transpires this my own fault and not the fault of the club! Tit!
  3. So how come I haven't had the Saints In Europe charter email from the club - although I did get the one on Friday 5th? My other emails are coming in OK, so how does "first come, first served" work when they don't send you the details!
  4. I like Tommy more with every interview. Nae pish! He answers the question and gives a decent response.
  5. Do you think that once Saints have priced up travel for both possible destinations they might publish both with the option that you could book by paying for the cheaper option and then pay the remainder later if it turned out we were going to the dearer option? The advantage is that it wouldn't mean a huge rush on the 12 July when the actual opponent is known and would allow people to plan ahead. I'm assuming that the vast majority who would intend going to Belfast would go to Trondheim if that was the way it turned out.

Wonder how long it'll take the BBC website to pick this up. They've been running with any type of rumour on all the other SPL clubs but the Saints page has been the same for what feels like a fortnight. Useless. Unless of course you want to know what Neil Lennon thinks on any amount of irrelevant crap.
  7. Yup, I agree - the kids in the room needed taught that middle aged men making v signs at a TV screen every time a member of the opposition appeared and regularly shouting "cu^t" at a telly is acceptable. More disappointed that the senior member of staff didn't do something about it rather than waiting for another customer to challenge the pathetic behaviour. Good grub at a decent price though and a decent game to watch despite the result.
  8. The team formerly known as Rangers should be advised that they must accept the SFA position by 12 noon on Thursday. If they do not, then their application to play should be denied and they should be advised that they may reapply at the conclusion of the forthcoming season. Brechin should then be given a bye into the next stage of the Ramsden's Cup. I have absolutely no doubt that Spartans, Gala Fairydean, Cove etc have been watching all this very closely and would be more than able to present a viable case for elevation to League Three within a few hours. Thereafter the SFL can make up their numbers from a selection of clubs who are fit to join the league. It is absolutely outrageous that the disgraced entity that is Sevco feel that they are in any position to negotiate which parts of their misdemeanours should be ignored. EDIT* now I see that Chips has said much the same thing as I wrote :-)
  9. Knock, knock! Who's there? Jehovahs Witnesses - get yersell doon tae the fitba!
  10. "A Party next Thursday" Post 9. OK it's a bit tentative, but it's the right sort of idea. We need to turn going to the football into a fun family event where the entire city supports the club rather than a chance to sit in the cold and shout obscenities (fun as that may be )
  11. We're all talking about how we can get behind the club and minimise the effects of the anticipated income / revenue fall. In general we are thinking only how WE can help. If we are attending as many games as we can then it will certainly be a drain on most of our budgets and with the best will in the world finances are finite. Perhaps then we should utilise the new found fan power. The forum and the club could be publishing a list of who has bought trackside advertising, who has bought advertising in the programme, who has sponsored players / games etc. We should then be making every effort to support these firms wherever possible. Co-ordinated fan power would hopefully encourage more companies to advertise and support the club in anticipation of our business. It might not even have to be direct financial support. The current initiative by the Tulloch Institute has been prompted by co-ordinated fan action. While helping the Tulloch, it will hopefully encourage fans along to the games and the face painting and similar initiatives for youngsters will have kids encouraging their parents or grandparents to take them to the match. Winners all round.
  12. CSKA Sofia have finally paid Celtic for striker Cillian Sheridan - two years after signing the striker. (Daily Record) What does that mean for Saints - if anything?
  13. The 1971 match at Ibrox - my grandfather took me, it was my first ever away game and I didn't get to another for about 7 or 8 years.
  14. I'd be surprised if Sky departed. I reckon they need Scottish Football as much as Scottish Football needs them. I imagine they make the vast bulk of their money from those who subscribe to watch English Football, but there isn't enough of that to fill the schedules 24/7. Even with Spanish football and the rest they still need to fill the schedule and every Scottish game fills two to two and a half hours. It brings English speaking interviewees (well maybe) and interest from Scotland and a surprising number of ex-pats across the UK and elsewhere. Even at the money they are paying at the moment, Scottish football is an exceptionally cheap way to fill their schedules. If Sky walk away or offer a ridiculous alternative, then it is time for Scottish football to grow a pair and come up with a decent deal for another station. We all have to expect that if the Newco have to apply for the 3rd Division there is going to be less money available across the board. We have to get used to it and learn to behave with integrity and to live within our means. Of course some of us have been doing that all along!
  15. Montrosesaintee says it all much better than my own effort! Dear Mr Brown It is 42 years since first I joined my grandfather on the terracing behind the goal at Muirton. Since then I like you and your family have experienced the highs and lows of being a St Johnstone supporter. I’m quite sure that you have a myriad of such letters to read and that your time is valuable so let me briefly say this. St Johnstone are a family club that has survived through integrity and good management. Please vote no to any newco being readmitted to the SPL in any fashion. Were the circumstances reversed you can be sure that St Johnstone would be applying for admission to Division 3 already. Even if you are the only chairman in the league to vote no, you can hold your head up as having voted for integrity, financial propriety and in the spirit of sport. I honestly believe that a vote in that manner would attract more rather than less gate receipts and investment in the club. Your father’s comments in the past have illustrated his despair at how clubs can buy success by cheating the system. Please vote No.
  16. So you're entitled to an opinion and he's not. You're entitled to shout yours out and although he keeps silent you're still considering assaulting him. Get a grip you t***!
  17. Disnae alter the fact. If you can't enthuse the fans then why would they pay to come along? You have to offer more - make them certain that they are part of the club and that the club is part of Perthshire. It's unlikely that the "product" is going to undergo some miracle transformation, so you have to look at how you can improve the "experience" by including the fans, listening to them and enthusing them. Whatever words you use, the problems still require solution.
  18. At three home games in a week, the rain and wind and the Aberdeen match on the telly, I think you could have offered tickets for £1 and still struggled for a crowd. If you look to American sport then the attractions for the kids and families are apparent - unfortunately footy doesn't stop every few minutes like gridiron or baseball to allow crowd participation. Cutting prices to £10 doesn't seem on its own to attract twice as many supporters - and I suspect it's unlikely that those that attend at £10 spend a further £10 on pies and bovril. The club has to look at ways at getting new fans in and then engaging them and the existing supporters. Imagination is required in big measure -so here's an idea... Top six or bottom six one of our last two home games of the season is likely to be fairly meaningless and attract an indifferent crowd. It is likely to be in May when the weather is better. Why not have fancy dress day at McDiarmid. Charge £10 admission. Everyone could turn up looking like a proper t***. Pre-game and during the first half a selected group of judges could scan the crowd and at half time the best dozen could be brought out onto the pitch and winners could be chosen (and suitably mocked). There could be a first prize and a runner up prize for adults and for kids. First prizes could be a season ticket for next season with runners up prizes of two tickets for every home cup game next season. We could even offer a prize to away fans of two tickets to each of their club's games at McD the following season. Everyone has a laugh, it brings a fun end to what will have been a decent season, it gets bags of publicity - it surely wouldn't take much to get it on the Scottish news before and after the game and on Soccer AM and it leaves you keen for the start of the next campaign. What has it cost Saints? Apart from £10 entry which they might have done anyway, the prizes cost nothing - they are giving away tickets to seats that would be empty anyway. I can just see Steve Lomas on the touchline dressed as Daffy the Duck!
  19. No denying that cutting the wage bill is a priority. Having ditched almost all the strikers at the end of last season, Del was in the position that as close season progressed he might end up with no fit strikers at all. So he brought in a few early doors while negotiating with Haber. Suddenly - just as it seemed all was done SoS both became available. My feeling is that having hedged his bets early doors he was suddenly left with one or two strikers more than he had intended. Suspect some will move on - but obviously that might be dependent on what happens in January - it might not be those that the manager wants to move on!
